We loved our stay at the Dinosaur Valley State Park. There did not seem to be a bad site, all of them are large, spacious and very wooded. We walked to river and but this was not easy, there is no easy way to get there, very steep and slippery. It was worth the walk, the river was gorgeous. Next trip I would prefer one of the odd numbers they are on the river side. The restrooms were very clean, well kept. We did not use the showers. There is also a small park for kids and a store that is in walking distance. We camped at Dinosaur Valley State Park in a Motorhome.

Love the town of Glen Rose, antique stores, other shopping. Great food there in downtown, The Green Pickle and the Storibook Cafe are great. Also love the Pie Shop.

This is a great park for kids. We took our 3 seven year old granddaughters, and they had a ball. They enjoyed wading in the river and looking at the dinosaur tracks. The hiking trails were not well marked; we got to the top of the mountain, and we were not sure how to get back down. We finally found the trail we came in on, but the girls were getting a little scared. We camped at Dinosaur Valley State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Overall Rating:

My wife requested I write a review on this park. She and a niece went there on April 28, 2018 only to hike the trails. When they returned, they told me of the terrible time they had. Slow check-in with two people working the gate. The trails were not marked so they could not find the trail with the waterfall. They attempted to use the ladies room. The first one was over flowing and they could not get to the stalls without walking in sewage. They drove to second one only to find they were overflowing as well. Only one stall available with a very long wait. They could not find any employee to tell them of the issues. We have found this type of poor service in many Texas State parks and that is the main reason we never camp there any longer. Seems to be the norm for State employees. We camped at Dinosaur Valley State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Just returned from 3 day trip. Grandkids had a great time swimming in the river and looking at dinosaur footprints. Campsites were a little close but not too bad. The sites were all shaded. We camped at Dinosaur Valley State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Nice sites in cedar forest. Some of the sites are too small for anything over 25 feet, but quite a few can handle big rigs. Lots of hiking, but most is on the other side of the river, so it is best to have wet boots for crossing. We camped at Dinosaur Valley State Park in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

Good little park to stay at. It would definitely be on your list if you had young children - they would love all the sights regarding dinasours. We only stayed here for 2 nights midweek and were kind of mystified as to why we were given the site we got. First of all, it was pretty had to get into with our 32 foot RV, as it was not angled at all - straight in with no ability to use space across to maneuver. This was really odd when there were so many sites that were vacant the entire 2 days we were here - closer to the river and easier to get into. The trails were pretty good - but signage was somewhat lacking (green paint on rocks instead). Had to cross the river on foot (no bridge) and perhaps this is easier when water is lower, but made it a bit difficult to walk after having totally soaked feet. Luckily we had wet shoes and changed - but others we met didn't. Very pretty and very interesting place, all in all. Loved the stone fire pits - awesome! We camped at Dinosaur Valley State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Check water levels on the river if you want to go hiking, and take wet shoes if it's above the rock level where you have to walk.

Overall Rating:

This is the most quiet campground I've ever stayed in. The weather was unusually warm for January and the campground was completely full. At 8pm both nights, I walked my dogs and could not heard a sound - no traffic noise in the distance, no noisy neighbors, no airplanes overhead - just peaceful quiet.

Plenty of maneuvering space for my 40ft 5th wheel (all sites are back in). My site was smooth and level. Several small parking lots to park your tow vehicle or toad. Sidewalks through the trees to the restroom/ shower building so you don't have to walk all the way around the loop if you prefer.

VERY clean restrooms, showers, dump station, and no litter seen anywhere.

MANY very nice walking, biking, hiking trails. I didn't visit the campground store.

Courteous and professional park employees. We camped at Dinosaur Valley State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

The Big Cup Cafe in Glen Rose just a few miles from the park is a great value - comfort food at very reasonable prices.

This is a great park. The sites are level, with good shade and large enough for big rigs. I think all the sites are back-in. Water and electric are available. There is a dump station, but no sewer at the sites themselves. My site was fairly open but other sites have very good privacy. The campground was about half full on a weekday and very quiet. The restrooms and showers were very clean. We camped at Dinosaur Valley State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

The park exists to protect the dinosaur trackways in the bed of the Paluxey River and along its banks. If it has rained in the recent past the water can be cloudy, making the tracks hard to see. But if the water is clear, the dinosaur tracks are easily visible.

Great place to take the kids. We had so much fun in the river looking at the Dinosaur tracks. The little museum they had was great as well because it gave us some relief during the mid-day heat. Campsites were clean, and I loved how historic the place was. It was great for my kids to learn some history! We camped at Dinosaur Valley State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

A good state park with a lot of dinosaur information, including per-historic tracks in the riverbed. Near the Fossil Rim Animal Park and a good place to stay for a few days while you take in the attractions in the area. Great pie in town at the Pie Peddlers. Staff very informative and helpful. Good park for walking and biking. Dinosaur prints were very interesting! However, there is no phone or internet service and no TV antenna reception. We were in site 16, but all the sites seemed fine. We camped at Dinosaur Valley State Park in a Motorhome.

Enjoyed our stay. Grandkids loved the dinosaur tracks. Picnic tables are on opposite side of RV at most sites so not user friendly. There is a long set of stairs behind one of the campsites that takes you down to the river. 7 dollars per person per day park use fee. Had several sites that would work for groups (up to 3 trailers). Restrooms were very nice and clean and central to campsites. Would stay here again. We camped at Dinosaur Valley State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Rate does not include $7 per person entry fee which is waived for annual pass holders. The dinosaur tracks were not visible due to recent rains which made the river too high and dirty, but it was still fun to be in the water. Some of the sites are very close together and would probably be best for a family or group that needs more than one site. Some sites are very tight to get into so a big rig might not be able to fit. Local attractions Dinosaur World and Fossil Rim Wildlife Safari make this a great place to stay. We will definitely be back. We camped at Dinosaur Valley State Park in a Travel Trailer.

The sites are really great. Most are spacious and level. We stayed in #4 and we had lots of room to spread out. There are walking trails through all the sites leading to the bathrooms and along the river. The river was wonderful. Shallow with some deeper areas for swimming. We spent hours playing in the water, skipping rocks and catching crawfish. The dinosaur tracks are cool but kind of hard to see. We weren't able to eat outside because of the massive amount of flies. We must've killed a hundred of them. Bathrooms were clean. The price of the campsite does not include the $7 per adult per day fee you have to pay. Kids 12 and under are free. We would love to come back here again armed with fly swatters and fly paper. We camped at Dinosaur Valley State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Great park for the kids. Nice fire pit / BBQ grill at each campsite, but watch the lengths of the sites. Most of them were fairly short, so our 30' 5th wheel was too long for most of them. Park was well kept, friendly park personnel and great trails. We'll come back for sure. We camped at Dinosaur Valley State Park in a Fifth Wheel.
