We arrived 2pm Sunday and was told by the rangers the entire park without power due to rain storms downing trees onto power lines. Had to pay cash could not do CC transaction, but by the time we got to Woodpecker Hollow, the power had been restored! Fairly new pavement throughout park to include actual campsites. The paved portion of the campsite where we parked our trailer was surrounded by ankle deep water from the rains, so we had to walk in water to get to our picnic table and fire ring. It took nearly 2 days for it to dry up, so it was very muddy! Brand new restroom/shower building which has 2 family restroom/shower units. Showers and dressing area are completely private. Very nice. Hiking trails mostly in good condition except where downed trees where across the path. Nice fishing docks! No Park WIFI. Had 1 bar with AT&T. We camped at Caddo Lake State Park in a Travel Trailer.

We stayed on Woodpecker Hollow Loop and it was so quiet and peaceful. We would definitely come back. The other side seemed to have traffic noise. We didn’t enjoy fishing off the pier as much because of the foot traffic. Also- didn’t get a nibble, but we enjoyed trying. We camped at Caddo Lake State Park in a Motorhome.

Seeing Jefferson is a must. I would read about the history before going because it’s pretty amazing. Go to the General Store! Also, the Bistro next door has great food if you want to splurge.

Rangers and host are friendly. Freshly paved roads are easy to navigate. Utilities work well. Sites have a good amount of space between them, but are slightly unlevel. Newly built showers have 2 for men, 2 for women, and 2 for families. Nice hiking trails and boat ramp. Park is quiet at night but has considerable traffic and train noise during the day, including a boom every time a vehicle crosses the nearby highway bridge. As others have stated, we picked up a few ticks as well. We camped at Caddo Lake State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Stayed here for three nights visiting family in the local area. Well kept state campground that from what we were told by locals and rangers has received recent upgrades to include a restroom and shower facility between the Woodpecker (FU) and Armadillo (Electric/Water) loops. All the FUs were pull throughs but crest moon curved. We were 39' so had to pull out and try again so we could get the rig situated for the hookups and slides due to trees. We were still at a bit of an angle but unhooked without issue.
Great walking trails especially if you have pups. There are no lake views on the two open loops mentioned above. There is another loop, Mill Pond, that is on the Mill Pond adjacent to Caddo Lake but the loop was closed. Please note that the Armadillo loop that has electric and water, backs up to HWY 43. 43 is a 60 mph two-lane road that gets quite a bit of traffic noise to include large trucks.
We had site 20 and it did fit our 39' fifth wheel, it was a bit tight. We camped at Caddo Lake State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Even though early in the season, be sure to use bug spray before you walk in the woods as our dogs picked up ticks on almost every trail walk to include the underbrush near the campsite.

We stayed in the Woodpecker Loop which is the full hook up section. I would recommend the Woodpecker Loop over the Armadillo Loop due to the road noise in that loop. This would be a great park for a canoe or kayak. The canoe rental was closed while we were there. The trails are very nice. We had good Verizon service, satellite was really difficult, if the trees would have had leaves on them it would have been impossible Really my only complaint was the number of ticks, we really had to be keep an eye on the dogs, it seemed like everytime they went out we found ticks on them. We camped at Caddo Lake State Park in a Travel Trailer.

We camped in a 35' 5th wheel. The sites with sewer, electric, and power were temporarily closed due to construction. Very nice park and typical of why we love Texas state parks. Only downsides were very limited ATT service and some road noise from Hwy 43. We were parked in the Armadillo Run Camping area. Other areas probably wouldn't be as noisy. Park roads to and from the camping areas are narrow and hilly but we had no trouble getting our camper in place. Many of the camp sites were limited on RV length (ours barely fit) and some had slope. However, we'll be back. And, Hwy 43 is a wonderful alternative to Hwy 59 when travelling between Texarkana and Marshall. We camped at Caddo Lake State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

This place is a real gem. Quiet and dark at night, almost spooky. The lake is beautiful. We only stayed 2 nights, but I'd go back again for sure. The shower house was torn down, and they are building a new one, so we showered in the camper. Hiking trails were ok. We camped at Caddo Lake State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Town of Jefferson is about 7 miles away, a neat place with a good smokehouse, grocery store and other shopping (check out the General Store) . Town of Uncertain is at the end of the lake, has marinas and a few restaurants. The camp hosts here are great.

We hiked a little, found a geocache as well as a letterbox. Having been to Jefferson many times, we ate a The Hamburger Store on the way to the park. (as usual, slow service). Can also recommend the catfish restaurant just down the road.

One of my favorite parks. We brought our kayaks and put in at the park which is one of the most beautiful parts of Caddo lake. We did some geocaches at the park which was a lot of fun. It has some great walking trails. Just a beautiful park. I will be back to this park! We camped at Caddo Lake State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Caddo Lake State Park is in East Texas near the Louisiana border. It was built by the CCC in 1934.

The park has eight full hookup 50A RV sites and 18 water and 30A sites. The sites are large and private. Cabins and screen shelters are available.

The bayou is lined with cypress trees with heavy Spanish moss. The pond is great for paddling. Bring your own or rent a canoe.

The camping areas are in dense pine woods. Nice hiking trails.

We were in site 13 (screen shelter site with 30A) for one night (TPWD reservation error) then two nights in site 25 (50A full hookups). We have been here several times and will return. We camped at Caddo Lake State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Holiday weekend and the campground has a few spaces. I had reserved a full hookup months in advance and I'm glad I did - there were none available. There is a daily park fee of $3 added so daily total is $23 which is a very good full hook up price. Boating and fishing are popular activities in the park with easy access provided to Caddo Lake. Definitely a destination park for future trips. We camped at Caddo Lake State Park in a Motorhome.

We camped at Caddo Lake State Park near Karnack, Texas in February 2016. We were in site 22 in the full hookup Woodpecker Loop. $20/night for water, 50/30/20A electric and sewer. All eight sites in this loop are pull throughs. The Armadillo Run loop are water and electric back in sites. Camping areas in beautiful pine forest. The park is on Big Cypress Bayou with boat ramps and canoes for rent. Good hiking trails. Jefferson, TX is 12 miles away with groceries and shopping. I highly recommend this park. One of the most scenic parks I've been to in Texas. Very nice campground. The Cypress trees are beautiful. A couple of cons come with this scenic beauty. No WiFi is available and the only way to get a cell phone to work is to go to the top of the hill by the check in area. Also, there are lots of trees close to, and hanging over, the road. You can get through them, but if you aren't paying a lot of attention to them you could easily hit one. A guided tour of the lake is strongly recommended to fully experience the area. We camped at Caddo Lake State Park in a Fifth Wheel.
