We had a full hook up site - was able to get from under the trees to get a clear shot for satellite TV All the sites we pull through site parallel to the road, ours had a pad, picnic table and fire ring - last night we had 12 deer come out and stayed for about an hour, say lots of water birds and a roadrunner We had a partial view of the lake. We camped at Lake Corpus Christi State Park in a Motorhome.

Access to the park is good. Big rig friendly. Pavement all the way. Parameter roads are paved. Signage was good. Check in was quick, informative and the staff were very friendly. Our site, Opossum loop site 10, was a pull through, partial hook up, with a concrete pad. It came with power, water, a covered table and a fire pit. Sadly, had we parked so that our levelers were all on the concrete we would have stepped out into a mud pit. It was raining upon our arrival. We moved forward so we would step out onto grass which made for a very big first step. Our front wheels were very much in the air. No attempt has been made to mitigate erosion. Soil on the side of the pad has washed onto the concrete table pad. We looked at other sites thinking of moving. Most were in the same condition. The park setting is beautiful but some drainage work and the addition of some gravel would go a long way to making this a great park. It is clean and quiet. There are no restaurants or services within walking distance. Groceries etc are about 15 minutes away in Mathis. We paid $20.00 plus a $10.00 park entrance fee per day and feel we received good value for our dollar. Even with the sad shape of the site, we would return. We camped at Lake Corpus Christi State Park in a Motorhome.

Rate reflects use of Texas State Park pass to waive daily entrance fees. This is a beautiful park. Two separate areas, one full hook up and one with 30A/water only. All sites are pull thru, half circles, some are a little tight but there are plenty for big rigs. There are lots of large shade trees that can be a challenge for slides and larger rigs. Water pressure was good, electric was steady. There is a good park presence in the form of maintenance and ranger staff. The lake itself is very large, very pretty. Several boat ramps, numerous areas for bank fishing. Very nice walking trails and plenty of birds to view, they do have a bird blind area, but it wasn't stocked so we didn't see any bird activity there when we visited. There is an old CCC building here with a viewing area over the lake. It's a very nice state park with knowledgeable and friendly staff. Quick enough drive to town for groceries and there are several restaurants. We enjoyed our visit and would visit again. We camped at Lake Corpus Christi State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

There is an HEB in town. We ate at Smolik's BBQ restaurant, in town, (they have location by the freeway). We didn't care for the sauce, but the meat was good, sides ok, and its very popular with the locals. Town is small, not much else to do there. Nearest WM is in Alice, about 30 miles.

Nice park. Friendly staff. Nice loop pull through site. Like other Texas State Parks, camping fees are on top of a per day admission per adult. $25.00 camping + $10.00 for two adults per day. We were on the move, so did little exploring, but would plan to spend more time on our next visit to see more of the park. We camped at Lake Corpus Christi State Park in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

Rate reflects having a TX State Parks Pass to waive the daily access fee. Nice older state park. The Javelina loop is full hookup, 30/50 amp. The sites are all pull through although some could be a little tight for larger rigs. The concrete slabs are fairly level but short, about 25 feet but extended on each end with entry/exit asphalt so leveling can still be accomplished without issues. Power was steady as was water pressure. Sewer hookups are a little high so some sort of hose elevation system helps. Covered picnic table was a nice touch although not all sites are covered. All sites do have a concrete slab for the table. Fire ring/grill combination. OTA TV picked up numerous stations. Verizon signal was adequate for Internet access. Also have electric/water sites and water only sites each costing less accordingly. Lake has fishing piers and non motorized craft rentals. Several hiking trails, one leading to a bird blind. Old CCC building was interesting to see. A couple negatives: first, the abundance of ants of all sizes. They try to climb up your water and electrical lines to gain access to your rig. We sprayed for them and did not have any invaders. Also the restroom/showers could use a good cleaning. Lots of accumulated dust on the light fixtures, dirty floors and crickets and spiders. Lights are photo sensitive and I had trouble getting to recognize my presence after dark, making it a very dark experience. We camped at Lake Corpus Christi State Park in a Motorhome.

This is a really nice state park. The rangers were super nice and helpful, and even brought me doggy poop bags from their own home when I forgot to bring ours. All the sites were pull-thrus in the section where we stayed, and it was just a short walk to the lake. Only two reasons kept me from rating the park a 10. The slabs on the sites are quite small, so my 38' motorhome just straddled the slab. While the site was large and had a nice covered picnic table, the area was muddy and there were lots of ant mounds. Overall, I really recommend this park, but next time we'll come when it's cooler, and bring our straw mats to minimize the mud tracking. We camped at Lake Corpus Christi State Park in a Motorhome.

.A lovely park with good pull-thru sites with FHU. We stayed in our motorhome in No.45 with a view of the lake which has a good fishing pier. This park is frequented a lot on a daily basis but it never felt crowded. We had a covered patio with picnic table but as it was very hot, we did not use it much. We did not use the amenities. It was a nicely shaded site with tar drive and a small concrete slab - sufficient for our 35ft motorhome and tow car. We camped at Lake Corpus Christi State Park in a Motorhome.

Lovely park to RV camp in. Full hook ups or electric / water for a few dollars less. All sites are pull through and that probably is a plus for some people. The restrooms are small and that could be a problem on the weekends as the park is heavy used by day visitors and tent campers then. They have a nice fishing pier and non motorized water craft rentals. We camped at Lake Corpus Christi State Park in a Travel Trailer.

We hadn't been to this park for many years. All the RV sites are pull through, but some are cramped just because it's an old park. All the RV sites have level cement pads and the electrical hookups seem to be recently redone. The picnic tables are covered look to be fairly new as well. We stayed here for 3 weeks. The "c" style parking was very private as typically only your neighbors were visible. The first night we were given a spot that was very tight for the size of our rig (39'). We went back to the park ranger the next morning after someone had pulled out and they were extremely helpful in helping us move to a spot with a lot more room. We would definitely stay here again as the campground was quiet and clean. We camped at Lake Corpus Christi State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

We stayed in the Catfish Cove Campground. It is water only and primarily for small motorhomes and tents. It has large sites with covered picnic tables, some shade trees and right on the water. We found 2 short hiking trails, one with a bird viewing area. One large aluminum fishing pier and also a smaller wooden fishing pier. We camped here in 21' Roadtrek. We will definitely come back here. We camped at Lake Corpus Christi State Park in a Motorhome.

Campsites in Opossun Bend loop are "eye brow", maintained and clean, 30A power was stable and water adequate, WIFI was available but weak, the nearby fishing pier produces crappies near the wooden poles using minnows or jigs, catfish hit stink bait off the T. There are hourly web based paddle board and kayak rentals available. Verizon jetpack was strong, antenna TV depended upon site # and obstructions. Use footwear - goatheads abound, bikes should have flat-proof tires for trails. The shower/toilet facilities are typical spartan state park, the Catfish Cove loop was the nicest facility and worth the walk/drive. We camped at Lake Corpus Christi State Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Best places to eat in Mathis were Vans on Magnolia St and the national fast food establishments. Alice and Calallen (30 minutes) have better eating establishments and more fast food. Sheriff and SP occasionally positioned by the park entrance. Mathis PD sometimes runs radar at Hoffs Food Stop on 1068 (S Aransas St).

This park has been heavily used and it shows it! Having made reservations 11 weeks prior, arrived at 315pm on a February Friday to find only 3 FHU sites available in Javelina Loop where it is pull-thru and the only FHU sites in the park. Most sites occupied by out-of-staters. Ranger had us select site upon arriving at entrance gate, sight unseen, but did give us flexibility to alter our selection upon viewing the available sites and calling back to the ranger station with the new site number and then returning to update registration documents prior to 8pm and we did just that! Pull-thru site with limited space from concrete pad to edge of woods, which barely allowed space to deploy our awning. Rigs with slide outs would definitely be cramped in this site. Concrete pad provided level parking spot for TT without any leveling assistance required, but erosion and wear exposed the concrete edge as a trip hazard. Aluminum picnic table was on its own concrete pad and in the open. Metal fire ring nearly full of ash and cigarette butts. No lantern hook. Woods behind site heavily littered with plastic beverage containers and boxes. Site utilities pole was in good condition. Sewer connection was a bit "uphill". Park entrance gate closed 10pm to 7am, but a access code was provided at check-in. VERY QUIET campsite, except for the occasional coyotes howling. Unfortunately, many campers displayed large flood lights from dusk to dawn, destroying the dark sky experience of the campground. Restroom/showers were clean but just worn out and desperately needing renovation. Nice bird observation area. About a 1 mile hiking trail from Javelina Loop to the Old Park Pavilion built by the CCC in the 1930s. Very nice floating aluminum dock within walking distance from Javelina Loop along with a fish cleaning pavilion. Was able to get 2 bars of AT&T cell service and successfully live streamed DIRECT TV. We camped at Lake Corpus Christi State Park in a Travel Trailer.

This review is for Javelina Campground; full hookup loop, with "c"-shaped roadside pull-thru sites. This is a clean, well-maintained State park. Interior roads and sites are paved (chip seal). Most sites have covered picnic table on a concrete slab. Sites are roomy, mostly level, with trees and grass. There is very good lake access, with a large fishing pier, and grass mowed down to the lake. The only negative I found was the old, very out-dated showers & restrooms. They badly need more, new restroom/shower facilities. Otherwise, this is a great park, and we would stay here again. We camped at Lake Corpus Christi State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Rate is for FHUs but doesn't include $10. park entry fee. Our first stay here was 2 years ago & we were here for the second time for an overnight on our way to South Padre Island from Austin. Crowded park but plenty of room for 35' Coach & tow without unhooking. Was able to get satellite by pulling to very front of site even tho some trees on site. #36 is in the Javelina Loop & has semi-circle pull-thrus. Our site had a covered picnic table on concrete area. Very pretty park with lake and picnic tables all along it. We camped at Lake Corpus Christi State Park in a Motorhome.
