This is a nice small park with a small no wake lake. Crosstimber area has full hookups but spaces are tight for a larger rig. There are lots of hiking trails if you're into that. Verizon cell and Jetpack service were excellent. We camped at Meridian State Park in a Motorhome.

We stayed here in the Cross Timbers campground (full hook up) in a travel trailer by reserving 207 days in advance prior to arriving (thru the "old" Texas State Park reservations system). We arrived to the cleanest campfire ring we've ever seen! Park Headquarters staff was very friendly and helpful. All sites in Cross Timbers are pull-thru and relatively close together. Our campsite was up against the park road, right past the Park Headquarters, so there was a lot of traffic during the day and into the early evening, mostly boaters. We had no AT&T coverage at the campground and only 1 bar at the Park Headquarters, which was a bit scary due to anticipated severe thunderstorms. Campfire wood available at Park Headquarters via a locker-type vending machine. We camped at Meridian State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Very nice and large park. A lot of space for RV. Wifi does not work. Verizon works very well. The price for one night is $ 25.00 but in addition you have to pay $ 5.00 per person per night. Very quiet during the day and at night. At night, the park is closed for security. We camped at Meridian State Park in a Motorhome.

A smaller State Park on a small lake contained entirely within the Park. The Park has a very nice fishing pier and a good many hiking trails that are well marked. The full-service campsites are all pull-through and very close together. The Park has Park Police who were often visible. Camp Hosts clean each campsite after folks leave to include the firepits. A lovely Texas State Park. We camped at Meridian State Park in a Motorhome.

Beautiful location with a no-wake lake. At the top of the Hill Country, the views are fantastic. After a rain, the water runs over the limestone ledges.

You won't find a more friendly or helpful staff anywhere! We camped at Meridian State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Overall Rating:

This is a nice, quiet, well-kept state park with 8 pull-through sites and about 15 (small) back-in sites. Almost every pull-through site was taken during our time there. The park rangers patrol all aspects of the park very regularly, which we appreciated and made us feel very secure. Restrooms with showers were very close. There is nice, small "no wake" lake within walking distance of our site, with multiple picnic tables and grills right on the water and a nice fishing pier. Excellent place for kids to fish---the ranger office will loan you rods if you need them. Several nice hiking trails from 0.4 mi to 2.5 mi. Two geocaches maintained by the park. The only negative was that Wi-Fi was pretty weak (but functional) and that AT&T cell service was nonexistent, but this is not the park's fault. We will definitely visit again. We camped at Meridian State Park in a Travel Trailer.

We cut our visit to Meridian by one day, due to just boredom. It's a very small park. Only 8 full hook up sites. Zero cellphone coverage, therefore my personal hotspot on my phone was useless. If you like alone time, then this is the park for you. We camped at Meridian State Park in a Travel Trailer.

$25 per night was for a level asphalt pad with full hookups site in the Crosstimbers campground. We do have the TX Parks Pass we purchased for $70 (it allows access to all 90 TX state parks) last year-otherwise it's $25 per night plus a $5 per person daily entry fee. Sites are generous grassy areas with a picnic table, fire ring, and pedestal BBQ unit. The whole park is loaded with different types of cedar trees and cacti. There were abundant types of birds flitting about. The night sky is very dark so the stars are brilliant. All the facilities were in great condition and the park staff was very friendly and helpful. There are miles of multi-use and hiking trails. This campground is located about three miles from small town Meridian where there is a very nice grocery store and a couple of restaurants. The park does have public Wi-Fi access, which worked acceptably most of the time. AT&T service was very poor inside the park but full bars of 4G LTE just outside the park. We had to use our booster to receive phone calls via AT&T. Verizon coverage was full bars of 4G LTE. We received 17 over-the-air TV stations and many radio stations. We camped at Meridian State Park in a Motorhome.

We camped at Meridian State Park near Meridian, TX in site #3, full hook-up site for $25/night in December 2014. All FHU sites are pull throughs. Asphalt pads. Some are tight for large RV's. Do not take a large RV into the W/E sites, no turn around. Great hiking trails. Several old CCC structures. We would return. We camped at Meridian State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Very nice small state park. There are 8 pull-through sites with full hookups (30amp) that most any size of RV could fit in with some maneuvering needed on 2-3 of them. More sites with only water and electric and are back-in. Has cabins/shelters also. Arrived on Wed and only one other unit was occupied. Weekenders arrived Friday and the park was near full. Still, not noisy, no late-night parties. Lots of kids and dogs and all got along. Lake is small but fishable I hear. Good getaway from DFW for weekend: only 70 miles from south edge of Fort Worth. Texas Parks pass will save $5/day in/out fee. This is an old CCC constructed park that has been kept up well. NO TRASH that I could see and the rangers/staff were friendly. Lots of open areas to walk dogs and only a minor amount of soft burrs to bother them. Each FHU site has an aluminum table, charcoal grill, fire ring and lantern hangers. Not much to do in Meridian (2 miles) or Clifton (15). There is no ATT reception, but I hear Verizon works. We camped at Meridian State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

There was a lot of trash all over this campground. Trash in the weeds, trash on the trails. Dumpsters were overflowing and there were massive amounts of flies everywhere. The park rangers are very strict: making us remove our Pepsi cans from their cozies to prove it wasn't beer. This happened in broad daylight, about 2-3 hours after arriving. My 8 year old was told she had to throw her flowers on the ground before he could leave our campsite. They also have a strict 10PM quiet policy and if they hear you at all, they will come to you. I have stayed at a lot of parks and never had park rangers ride us about any infraction they could find. I could understand if we were a nuisance, but we certainly were not doing that. We were a family of married couples, grandparents, grandkids, not a bunch of rowdy drunks. I had been warned by others about this park but didn't believe it till I saw it with my own eyes. I will never visit this park again. We camped at Meridian State Park in a Motorhome.

Exceptionally nice state park! The Park staff are very nice and informative. They are really proud of their park and have good reason to be. The sites are pull through and have a fire ring, lantern pole, picnic table and a waist high BBQ grill. Each pull through site has water, electricity and sewer connection. Plenty of shade around the picnic table and plenty of room for an extra vehicle at the site. The facilities are starting to show some age but are in good shape, well stocked and kept clean. It rained while we were here and the camp host came by each site with plenty of time before the storm a let everyone know it was coming so we could prepare. That is a nice thing to do, so you don't lose an awning to the wind and have time to get everything outside put away. The trails are very nice and the Lake is beautiful, clear water with plenty of tables near the water. My family enjoyed the park very much and will go back whenever possible. We camped at Meridian State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Very nice clean park. The staff were great and very helpful. The only problem we encountered was a large mud hole in the middle of our site. The lake is nice with new fishing piers. The boat ramp is closed due to low water conditions. We would stay here again. We camped at Meridian State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

I like the Texas State Parks, however, they are beginning to show some age and it seems there isn't enough money to modernize them. This one is very small but out of the way and quiet. One word of caution. If you have a trailer or fifth wheel over 30 feet, there is only one loop of campsites that you can get into and even then some of those sites require some careful maneuvering. Here as in every other state park, the ranger and office workers are among the best and are very cordial. We camped at Meridian State Park in a Fifth Wheel.
