Right next to I-20. Little noisy & naked out. Caliche roads so very dusty. Over half the park is oil field residence. We used a a one night stay going north so was adequate. Not a long term stay place IMHO. Clean, WiFi worked ok and Verizon cell good. Air TV good too. CBS a little week signal. Would stay as an overnite only. - Lonewolftx
Oct 2018 - $35.00
The lady who checked us in was very nice and helpful. Easy access to I-20. Nothing else good to say about this park. Traffic noise was horrific all night long. No sleep that night. The campground was full, I mean full, of workers in every imaginable kind of rig. There are apparently no restrictions on age or type of rig. From new looking fivers to what looked like home made somethings. Pick up trucks were parked everywhere making navigating through the narrow streets and tight corners challenging. We had to ask our neighbor to move two trucks before we could get into our spot. The sites are very narrow. The neighbors on one side of us had children's toys laying all over their yard with a toddlers swing set assembled in their spot. Our spot was barely long enough to hold our motor home and toad. Plus it was a muddy mess the day we were there. Very unpleasant experience. Will not stay here again. - 4 C Power Plant Retired
Apr 2018 - $35.00
A real oasis along I-20. Clean, safe, we'll managed, family friendly. The couple in the front office are welcoming and very helpful with local info. Wi-Fi speed very slow but ok for overnight email downloading. Located very close to I-20 so reasonable level of almost constant road noise. Our site (A17) was very level with lots of room for our fifth wheel. We would definitely stay here again. - Dunwoodyradio
Apr 2019 - $28.00
OK overnight spot right off I-20. We were the only overnighter there, with many open spots. The rest were full timers who were quiet. The site was a pull through so we did not have to unhook our car. No picnic tables. There was no one to check you in. Just put your money in drop box. If you have questions you can walk to RV dealer. It is a small dealer and didn't have any parts we needed. - webbsafari
Mar 2018 - $25.00
Great stop over park right off I20 for self contained units. Easy on and off the highway. There are no bathrooms or shower facilities. Long gravel pull through sites can accommodate the largest of rigs and trailers. Located right behind an RV dealer and parts store which is handy if you need any parts. Their store is incredibly stocked. We will stay here again in our Big Rig motorhome. - lmg
Sep 2017 - $25.00
Quite surprised how nice the park is, behind an RV service company. Close to Abilene, we had good wifi and TV antenna. FHU for only $25. The water quality was good; electric good. There were a couple of laundry rooms but no bath facilities that I could see. Quite a few full time residents, but the park itself was kept nice and clean. The only place I could find to let the dogs loose was a wooded area behind the laundry room, which was OK for one night. - Kerch Family
Jun 2019 - $35.00
Right off the interstate and close to town. In the middle of mesquite trees but sites were level and gravel. Lots of brambles and weeds to catch in dogs hair so be careful of that. Office has limited hours as the manager is maintaining the park. There was no little around. It appears most of the occupants are long term. - leciel19
Mar 2019 - $32.00
Long sites with plenty of room for big rigs and their tow behinds. Plenty of grass with rigs a good distance from one another. It appears quite a number of folks either store their rigs here, or stay year round. Road noise from I-20 isn't an issue at all - barely noticeable. - Todd and Heather
Feb 2019 - $31.00
Typical west Texas campground, perhaps a bit less dusty than usual and a bit more grass and small trees. Good gravel access roads with long pull thrus. Campground is beginning to shows signs of not being kept up. The ruts on exit from sites are getting bigger (not enough gravel width and not enough site pitch thus a lot of people end up running off the gravel). What gravel there is on the site is getting thin in spots and unlevel (front wheels off the ground). Small pieces of trash scattered here and there - not really something very noticeable, but another sign of the direction this campground seems to be heading. Overall very easy big rig access. Power ok but this was February. Previous stays during the summer showed potential power issues. Did not use the other utilities. No problems with satellite access. Verizon was 4 bars with 6.7Mbps; T-Mobile was 2 bars with 10 Mbps, campground wifi had good signal, but did not try connecting. No recycle on site. We will go elsewhere in the future. - SeaLandSkyPhoto
May 2019 - $27.00
I think we had a discount, but I'm not sure what. Maybe military, maybe just for having lived so long. Review mainly reflects the service we received. Sites were narrow, but with enough room to extend slides and not need to unhook from 39' TT. Pet area was small, but clean, with toys and even a squirrel feeder for their entertainment. Host went above and beyond to ensure we were comfortable, even to taking us to Chicken Express to purchase dinner when we weren't sure we could safely unhook the trailer (malfunctioning tongue jack). Then, in the last few days, we received a postcard thanking us for our stay. This is Texas hospitality at its best. When we are travelling that way again, and we do often, White's will be at the top of the list if we need a place to stay. - CCandtheLADY
Mar 2019 - $30.00
Cleanest dog park we've used so far. Excellent service & value but as it's on the freeway frontage road, there's no avoiding hearing traffic. But very good on/off so good for a night while traveling through. - The Thompsons
Nov 2018 - $29.00
We stayed for one night on our way to New Mexico. The office was closed on Saturday when we arrived but the staff opened the office to get us logged in. Our site was narrow but we managed to get in and open all slides to the surprise of the manager. Very helpful staff...we would definitely stay here again!! - RJ56
Oct 2019 - $45.00
The only BIG gig I could give this park is they need paved streets! This is our 2nd visit here and the interior roads are still a white crushed limestone and its like powder and the wind blows it onto everything! Even sitting outside you get covered. Big spacious sites, clean and dog control is perfect! We really think the interior roads could deter future visits. - Jackie thornton
Sep 2019 - $45.00
This is a relatively new park and has been designed with today's RVs in mind. They have pull-though sites that handle our 63' combined length. The young lady who checked us in was friendly and efficient. Good thing we called ahead for a site - there was a "No Vacancy" sign on the door when I went into the office. Good cable TV, good data reception with Verizon (did not use the park's wifi). - DreamCaptn
Aug 2019 - $45.00
The sites are well maintained and numerous pull thru sites for easy parking if you are towing a vehicle. Friendly staff who are welling to make their customers at ease. Since it is West Texas don't expect a lot of healthy grass. - bpatter1
Nov 2017 - $35.00
This is a nice campground. There are no trees but the sites are laid out in easy in and out fashion (most are pull through). The campground is close to Outdoor Recreation and the camper storage area. All hookups worked fine. The Wifi is excellent. The ladies bathroom had 2 stalls and two large shower stalls with locker space. The men's room had one stall and one urinal with the same large shower area. The cable tv worked fine. The laundry room was sufficient. The campground is fairly new. Our charcoal grill had not even been used. There was parking space at the campsite to fit our tow vehicle. The $35 fee is high for a military campground (most are $20). - Melodycthomas
Apr 2017 - $35.00
Dyess FamCamp is overpriced for the area, for the campground, for the space, and for what it offers. Many much better, much nicer military Famcamps are way less money.
This is basically a parking lot, with short sites, spaced closely together. The back in sites are not even numbered so that those arriving with reservations know which site to park in! Sites are short, and pretty close to neighbors considering the vacant base land all around.
There are many homesteaders, and they occupy many of the pull thrus. Move the homesteaders to the back ins, and let those passing through have the pull thru sites.
The bathrooms don't even have hand soap at the sinks. The information board on the outside of the laundry/shower facility has no information on it. The folder with "base maps" inside the laundry room has no maps in it. We have stayed in Famcamps across the nation, and even at $25 per night this one would still be overpriced. Truly, this Famcamp is a disgrace in the overall system.
The only thing saving this campground financially and for occupancy appears to be the long term homesteaders paying by the month. - AC7880
Oct 2016 - $35.00
We went to the campground coming in off the road and there were no available sites. The next day we went back and got a site and the next morning we were told we had to leave because our site was assigned to someone else. We were not told this the day before. It appears that Dyess FamCamp is for homesteaders or people living on base who choose to stay in the campground instead of living in base housing or off base. Don't bother to stop here hoping to get a place to stay for the night or multiple nights because the homesteaders have it locked up. - Debby W
Jun 2017 - $35.00
Very friendly workers. We were literally parked along one end of the paved parking lot with 50 amps & water. We stayed 2 nites & there was a 3 nite max. The rate was $35/nite which was high to us, but we are not VFW MEMBERS anywhere. Members I'm sure must get a discount. It was very safe we felt, but there are cars coming & going until about 11:30 pm. - slawrence
Dec 2016 - $19.00
We are staying on there newly opened part. It just opened up 2 weeks ago. Brand new laundry and bathrooms with showers. Large sites large, level and gravel. The staff is very friendly and helpful. I would stay here again if I am in the area. My daily rate was based on the weekly rate. - rynosback
May 2016 - $25.00
Five electric and water hookups. Dump station provided. No shade. Site surface is a concrete pad. We have friends in the area and it is a good place to park for a few days. - Trvl4Evr
Jun 2019 - $47.00
We had a really great stay and were pleasantly surprised by how nice this park is. Nothing fancy, but exactly what we needed and wanted. Staff were friendly and helpful. - bcbounders
Sep 2019 - $52.00
Overnight stay passing through. One of the nicest KOA's my husband and I have stayed. Well-maintained grounds with interior roads improved since a couple of past reviews. Pull-through site, which was long enough for our tow vehicle. No problem with placement of hook-ups at our site (46) for 40 footer. Nice trees. Great WIFI and phone service. DISH mounted on roof worked great. Would definitely stayed here again. - DMR2011
Aug 2019 - $45.00
Nice place for overnight stop off I 20 or to spend a couple of days in Abilene. Checked in by a very knowledgeable, efficient, and friendly young lady. Not the prettiest location but not bad for the Abilene area. Park is clean and well kept. - TexasBill
Jun 2019 - $45.00
From arrival I was impressed with the friendly staff and the helpful service I received. Excellent site, will highly recommend. Super nice staff. Goes that extra mile. - Dedmot
