We tried to get into Atlanta State Park but it was booked for that weekend. We decided to try Rocky Point. It is a nice park right on Wright Patman. We parked at C12 right on the lake. It being November we had some high winds all that weekend. We did hike there but it was overshadowed for my husband became sick - food poison before we arrived. He did not realize it until we were there and set up. He is a trooper and as I said did hike and went to Atlanta State Park and hiked a little there too. It is a nice park and I do recommend it. We camped at Rocky Point COE in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

It is the Wright Patman Dam Campground. There is hiking to do or you can go into Texarkana for food and entertainment. Fishing is also allowed as well as boating. When we were there, it was November and the winds were bad so not much of that we could do.

Great park. Tight narrow roads in the park with trees at the edge of the pavement. Tight but doable. Some sites have sewer, others not. Not all have 50A service. Our site was not level, front to back and side to side but was OK with boards under drivers side wheels. View was excellent tho, rear faced the lake. Bathrooms are clean but not air conditioned, tough when it's 100 degrees! We love the park and enjoy every time we stop. We camped at Rocky Point COE in a Fifth Wheel.

Overall Rating:

This is a pretty park. If you don't have a reservation, you have to pick your site sight-unseen at the gate. We arrived around 3:30 on a June Thursday and got the one remaining lakefront 50 amp. There is also water at the site. There are a few sites with full hookups. Big rig navigation is ok but requires attention in some areas. Verizon data signal is perfectly useable and there are plenty of OTA TV channels. The lakefront sites in B loop have a front-to-rear downward slope. I could have lowered the front of our travel trailer only one more inch until hitting the ground (35' hitch to bumper). There is plenty of space between sites. We camped at Rocky Point COE in a Travel Trailer.

We enjoyed our stay. A very nice COE campground. Most sites were level. Very shaded. Be sure to call ahead and get correct address. There's only one address on the website and it corresponds to the main facility and not Rocky Point Campground. Quite confusing if you haven't been there before. We camped at Rocky Point COE in a Fifth Wheel.

Stayed here over the Thanksgiving Holiday. Lots and Lots of Tall trees. Using Satellite TV is hit and miss. Who needs it as beautiful as this park is. It is an older park. Some sewer sites near the Wash houses. At 3:30 in the afternoon, you would think the sun is going down due to the long shade of the trees. Well kept, camp hosts were great. Came by and checked on us to make sure we were settled in and happy. Our neighbors were friendly, as the whole experience was relaxing. It is not right on the highway, but off a few miles. This is one of my favorite COE parks in Texas. We camped at Rocky Point COE in a Fifth Wheel.

We were very disappointed in Rocky Point. Sites were old and needed to be repaved. The grounds were not maintained; the grass was at least a foot tall, some places higher, the bathrooms were old and dated and overrun with spiders, the spots were not level. We even drove around and found throughout the entire campground maintenance lacked majorly. The park host and other campers in this park were very kind. We camped at Rocky Point COE in a Travel Trailer.

Beautiful campground located on the shore of Lake Platt. Only 10 miles from Texarkana Texas. We stayed here 2 nights and didn't see any maintenance crews. Campground isn't rundown but it isn't maintained very well. No sewer but dump site inside the campground. playground and boat ramp inside campground. We camped at Rocky Point COE in a Fifth Wheel.

Overall Rating:

This campground is on the shore of Lake Wright Patman. The lake itself is nearly 20 miles long and around four miles across and it has several great campgrounds along it's shore. Rocky Point is one of the good ones. The campsites are beautifully laid out: paved parking surrounded by big graveled pads, barbecue grills, a utility table, fire pit, and concrete picnic tables. All 124 campsites have electric and water. Several have 50 amps and a few offer sewer hookups. A large number of the sites overlook the lake, providing wonderful views, however none of the sewer sites are right on the lake. During busy times you'll probably need a reservation to snag a 50 amp, full hookup site. There's also a big boat ramp. One slight negative is the proximity of the paper mill at Domino, TX. When the wind blows from the east the smell is in the air and its an unforgettable smell. Happily, the mill is to the east and that's not the most common wind direction. Because the campground is nicely wooded I had to do a long coax run to a spot where I could get satellite TV. It seemed that no matter what I tried my Verizon cell signal fluctuated between 3G and 4G but, in general, I was able to get online without too much of a problem. This great campground is just a few minutes off of highway 59 and is a really nice place to stay. We camped at Rocky Point COE in a Fifth Wheel.

Another very nice COE campground. Paved roads, lots of trees, beautiful views of lake. Some slope to some sites, and trees close to some sites may prevent awnings from being extended. We would stay here again. We camped at Rocky Point COE in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

This is one of the nicest COE campgrounds we have camped in. The park is very shaded with good asphalt roads and level asphalt RV pads. In addition, each campsite has a raised packed gravel pad which has a fire ring, picnic table and grill on it. There is enough room on the pad for lawn chairs, etc. The number of sites that are suitable for satellite use are somewhat limited due to the trees. Also, on some sites it may be impossible to fully extend awnings due to the trees. We camped here on two different days, a Saturday night and a Tuesday night over the past two weeks. The park was less than 1/2 full and very quiet on both nights. The park is probably very full on holidays and spring break, thus it is much noisier than normal then. Rate reflects Senior discount. We camped at Rocky Point COE in a Fifth Wheel.
