Overall Rating:

This is probably the nicest KOA we have ever stayed at. We dealt with five different staff members, and all were very friendly and helpful. Park is beautiful, with lots of trees. Buildings are modern and well maintained. Park roads are smooth and easy to navigate. Sites are gravel, but fairly level. Long enough to easily park our coach and toad. Decent grassy patio space with picnic table and charcoal grill. Showers modern, very attractive SW ceramic decor, and spotlessly clean. Handy to downtown by car (15 min) or bus ($1.30 PP each way.) No traffic noise from I-10. Far away train horns a couple of times, but not loud enough to disturb. We would stay here again, and actually plan it into our travels. We camped at San Antonio / Alamo KOA in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

We got a stone chip in the windshield on our way from Houston. KOA staff hooked us up with Lightnin Glass mobile repair, who was very accommodating. Bus stop to town right across the road from the park. Great park.

Clean park with plenty of amenities. There is a small private restaurant that offers breakfast and possibly lunch. We had the breakfast and it was hot and fresh. There is a Valero gas station not too far away but we chose to travel a little and gas up along I -10. We camped at San Antonio / Alamo KOA in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

There isn’t much in the area, very industrialized so we took an Uber to The Riverwalk and had dinner. There is a bus stop nearby but we prefer Uber.

It was rainy the second day so Uber to The Guenther House for the best pancakes ever.

Tips for other Campers:

There is a bus stop right outside of the park and you can ride all day for $2.75 per person. A lot better than parking a dually downtown. Definitely check out the Riverwalk. We biked the Missions Trail totaling 23 miles all on a bike path. It was a great path and was well maintained and safe. We started at Mission San Jose which had lots of parking.

First off let me start by saying don't freak out while driving through the area to get here... We had a deluxe patio pull through site. Our site was a concrete pad with a table, bbq pit and swing. It was a little tight parking the truck in front of our rig. The premises are very clean and well maintained. They have a little walk up food shack that served breakfast and dinner at pretty reasonable prices. They also have a great park area, pool, peddle cart and small pond for fishing. They also rotate activities throughout the week. While we were there, they had bingo and a movie. The store had all kinds of useful items you may have forgotten or need at great prices. Every employee we had interaction with was very friendly and helpful. This park is great for families! We camped at San Antonio / Alamo KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Great location and close to downtown San Antonio (10 minutes). We took Uber to and from the park to downtown. About 30 minutes to Natural Bridge Caverns (you can stop by IKEA on the way there!)

This is a nice campground. The sites are level and not too close together. The trains and highway were not a noise problem. The campground was in the midst of resurfacing the roads when we were here, so a lot was closed off. We were put on the other side of this 40 acre campground from the fenced dog run, so it was quite a long walk to get there. There is a very nice walking/bike path. There are a lot of grassy areas along the path and in the campground and they all need mowing. All in all, a pleasant place to stay. We camped at San Antonio / Alamo KOA in a Motorhome.

As far as KOA's go - this one is much nicer than most. Many older KOA's have a problem accommodating large rigs towing a vehicle. Here, the roads are easy to navigate and entry and exit to your site is no problem. The only negative with this and generally all KOA's - is that they are priced to high for what you are getting. However,we will visit here again when in the area. The on-site restaurant and meeting hall is a great place to stop , chat and meet new friends. We camped at San Antonio / Alamo KOA in a Motorhome.

This is a very nice park. It has a mix of both shaded and sunny sites, a small pool, playground, bicycle and pedal cart rentals, live music or movies occasionally on weekends with breakfast in the morning and burgers, hot dogs etc. on Friday & Saturday nights on a seasonal schedule. The park entrance is across from the local bus stop which provides easy access to great downtown attractions. We have been coming here for 8 years and have seen many positive changes. CONS: Pricey for what most campers need unless you are into resort destinations. Hard to justify the daily rate if you don't have children travelling with you. Owners have been investing money into the park. The Deluxe sites with concrete patios, lawn chairs and an umbrella are nice but come at a high nightly rate and tend to be the last to fill. Some of the interior roads need repaving and some sites need more gravel. WIFI is marginal - consistently measured slow at 600kbps or less with constant drop offs. The park is located in a mixed area of industrial/residential and when sitting outside there is constant 24/7 'white noise', but was not as noticeable when inside the coach. The biggest negative of this park is the very one thing which costs almost nothing to fix - Customer Service. It seems campers are treated the way they are because they are staying there because of the 'KOA brand'. In our 5-month stay, we noticed very little 'welcoming' or smiles in the office at check-in, and found not one, not one single employee riding around on yellow golf carts or green utility carts would wave to campers or stop and talk with campers unless the camper waved first. From our observation this appears to be a trickle-down effect from the owner. A focused top-down effort on making customers feel welcomed and valued would transform this from a good park to a great park and wouldn't cost a dime. It's one of a few things campers expect. We camped at San Antonio / Alamo KOA in a Motorhome.

A decent KOA. Sites are not roomy but not too close. Well organized campground with friendly staff. A nice bike path runs right past the park, which was also good for dog walking. There are lots of burrs/stickers in the area, so our dog was constantly covered in them. Uber to downtown was convenient (a little far for a bike ride IMHO). Verizon signal was good. There was a small pool that we did not use, but it looked clean and the kids were having fun in it! I would definitely stay here again if I wanted to visit downtown San Antonio. Standard small KOA sites but over all the park was nice and well kept. Saturday night they had a concert in the pavilion. Our site had the dump station behind it so we got to hear the idling vehicles all morning till we left. At 44 ft we were to long to pull out of this site. Its a 10-20 dollar uber ride to the River Walk. Water pressure kept dropping as the park became busier. We would stay again but not at the site given this trip. We camped at San Antonio / Alamo KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Big park about a $8.00 Lyft ride away from downtown, the city bus also picks up right across the street from the park. Escorted us to our large graveled pull through site.
