Our stay for one month is $600. This RV Park is on the tip of the island, so you are close to the water everywhere. There is a lot of construction of new beach pavilions and it will be very nice. It’s a great place to bring the family. We camped at Isla Blanca Park in a Travel Trailer.

Came here for two weeks after we could not extend at a nearby park. This park is in pretty rough shape due to all the construction that is going on. Instead of working on one thing at time, they have everything (except the sites) torn up at one. The site plan on their website shows "future state" - not what it currently is. Multiple restrooms are closed, most parking at the beach is unavailable, there are no concession pavilions or boardwalk, and the amphitheater and multi purpose building is not available. Our site had cable, but it was pretty poor. A lot of the sites have been previously modified with no obvious control by the park. $29.99 for a week of unusable WiFi is a joke - don't even think about it. We had fire ants at our site, but good response to getting someone out to spray. Interior roads are paved, but rough. It's too bad this park hasn't been managed better - it has a great location. If we're ever here in the future, we would definitely pay a little more and stay at the other park. We camped at Isla Blanca Park in a Motorhome.

We have been looking for a nice location for December/January snowbirding and were hoping to find it here. Sorry--it's a no-go. Park is on the tip of South Padre Island, so you are steps away from a beautiful beach. On a nice day, there would be few places that would be nicer. Amazing sand castle creations await you. However, in December/January, the winds gust two days out of three, so hard that we pulled our slides in many days to save our slide toppers--even did this in the middle of the night because the noise was keeping us awake. We had fire ants upon check-in that maintenance addressed promptly. There are sand burrs everywhere, and they continuously track into your rig. The salty sea-spray will do a number on your rig, paint will feel grimy in no time. Our steps were corroded after 3 weeks and would not retract without repeated lubbing, exhaust pipe for AquaHot had rust in same time frame. Local RV Wash vans circle the park daily and are very economical--use them! The park is undergoing major reconstruction. All of the public facilities are being done first. Half of the campground bathrooms were closed, however little work was occurring. There are huge differences between campsite conditions, even those side-by-side. Some are paved and have patios, some are grass, some are broken concrete, some have windbreaks--all for the same price. Looks as if seasonals customize their sites. Some hookups are on wrong side or awkwardly placed. Many sites are at difficult angles to back into. They ask you to pick a site when reserving, but without park knowledge, it's just a guess. We could not reach hookups on our first site regardless if pulled in or backed in. The office staff is disorganized, always a line in the office. Poorly planned park--hopefully renovations will significantly improve conditions--if done consistently, comprehensively, and correctly. Did meet a lot of wonderfully fun fellow campers. If we return, we pay the big bucks and stay at the KOA. We camped at Isla Blanca Park in a Motorhome.

I just wanted to mention the strange layout of some of the campsites. We were in C234. I was getting ready to back into the site even though all the utilities would have been on the wrong side, someone came out and said you were supposed to pull into the site. O.K., but the problem is then you have to really work to get your truck out, especially if there are campers on either side of you. I guess this isn't a problem for a MH but it is for a 5th wheel or a travel trailer. Also once you do this then your tow vehicle is no longer on a pad and you have to deal with some very soft sand to try and get out. Thankfully I had 4x4 or I would have been stuck. The best thing about this park is the location. We camped at Isla Blanca Park in a Travel Trailer.

We were disappointed that wifi was an extra cost, and those who paid for it, said it wasn't worth it. The site we had was very narrow, but long enough for a 40 foot rv and our tow. The "stickers/thistles" or whatever, are everywhere, not just the brush areas. You must walk on the asphalt or road. We had no cable, but apparently some sites have it. Some sites also have a cement patio, but not C424. There was a large ant hill on the site. Weather was pretty bad the 4 days we were there.....only one day nice enough to walk on the beach. There is lots of construction going on inside this park and work trucks were up and down the road continuously. TV selections in southern Texas are pretty poor, unless you like Spanish tv. There are many, many restaurants and bars to visit on both the island and Port Isabel. My husband really enjoyed Pier 19. Sites are close and this site was barely wide enough for our rv to fit on. I saw no fire rings, quite possibly because it can get very windy here. We camped at Isla Blanca Park in a Motorhome.

Stickers everywhere where we were. We chose a spot in one of the square configurations for a view of the bay, which we had. The squares are very odd,in that, if you don't pull in the utility's were on wrong side. On some if you pull in you won't have concrete slab which is a big square for all four sites. Other sites seem to have good space but most are filled with winter Texans who come every year. No weekly rates this time of year. We camped at Isla Blanca Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Access to the park is good. Signage is adequate. Check in was informative but very drawn out. A two page form had to be filled out. Official pictured ID was required. Our check in clerk was very pleasant but the red tape was not. The park is divided into different sections depending of the amenities your request and what is available. We chose full hook ups but no cable. Our designated site B21 was outside of the main park over by the marina, The section was small, the sites well laid out and well spaced. The parameter road was paved but in very rough condition. B21 is an end unit with an extra wide patio. We parked on the patio as it was rainy and we didn't want our landing gear buried in mud, There was no table or fire pit. The patio, power, water and sewer were it. All of our amenities worked as they should. We found the park to be quiet and pleasant. There is Sea Food restaurant a few steps away that also sell fresh fish and ice. We did not test the restaurant but we did buy some huge very fresh shrimp that were awesome! We paid $45.00 night and feel we received good value for our dollar. We would return We camped at Isla Blanca Park in a Motorhome.

The beach was wonderful. We thought the Sea Turtle Recovery Center was good. A visit to the Light House was okay. Go for a drive to Beach Access Road 5 to go for a Drive along the beach. $10.00 for a day pass or if you have a true 4X4 go to access road 6 to get on for free. It would help if yo have a little knowledge on how to drive on loose sand as well. You can drive north on the beach for about 30 miles.

Stayed Dec-Jan. Renovations on total park restrooms and building complexes. The men started early in the mornings. Better love to fish or wind surf. A lot of wind with slide out canopy's being ripped off. Be sure not to pass up the folks offering motorhome/camper wash and wax. Sand and salt takes its toll. Rates a month were $600 a month plus 100 dollar deposit for electric. We used only about 50 dollars for the 2 months we were there. People very friendly. Wild life included coyotes, salt water aquatic animals, and birds. If you love shrimp and fish, Spanish food, this is the place. Planned activities but we did not participate. Port Isabel was a cute little town and going to Progreso, Tx was a eye opener for this winter Texan. Looked like many festivals were starting in February. Did get a bull riding event in. Speaking Spanish was a plus but not required. Highways were the best with higher speeds. We camped at Isla Blanca Park in a Motorhome.

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $70.00
Overall Rating:

This is a county-managed park that holds more than 600 RVs, so it is little more than a parking lot in a great location. It sits on the southernmost tip of South Padre Island, with the Gulf of Mexico on the east side and the ship channel on the south side. There are no sites right on the beach and almost none with a beach view (the dunes are in the way), but the following are sites that sit closest to the beach and provide a shorter walk to it, so they therefore might be worth the $10 per night "premium": S01-09, C436-457, S24. However, there are some sites with unblocked views of the channel, which is fun when the big ships come through: S15-23, C398-C406, and other sites at the very end of the rows along Channel View Drive. The sewer connection in our site, C419, was at the very back of the site and therefore useless to us. We ended up using the one and only dump station in the park. Be very careful when first arriving at the park. You have to stop at an office about 500 yards before the entrance. The office is much closer to the KOA than to the entrance to Isla Blanca. Stop there first to get your site assignment and initial the most ridiculously long contract ever used in an RV park (and I'm a lawyer saying that). Then you'll have the choice of three gated entry lanes to go into the park. The far left is for those who have checked in, but IT IS NOT WIDE ENOUGH FOR MANY RIGS. There is actually a middle entry lane that is wide enough, but it had a barricade in front of it the whole week we camped there. We suggest that you pull off and talk to the entry attendant before trying to take your camper into the park and risk scraping it on the concrete pylons at the entry. Many of the campers are left in place there for months at a time, even if the local owners can only drive in on the weekends to enjoy them. So the weekends are much more crowded than the weekdays. The beach and the fishing jettys were popular at all times during our week-long stay in June. We camped at Isla Blanca Park in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

If Isla Blanca beach is too crowded for you, drive north on the island to County Beach access #5 or #6. Your Isla Blanca pass will waive the $10 day fee on these beaches. You can drive on these beaches (be careful not to get stuck in the dry, deep sand). You will have very few neighbors on these beaches. #5 has amenities such as bathrooms and vendors. #6 is just you and the sand and the sea. We spotted several dolphins playing just beyond the breakers during high tide each day.

This campground is the Southern most in the Texas. Borders the bay and the Gulf of Mexico. PRO: It's beachy, warm, and windy. Lots of winter Texans. Had a mobile wash crew clean and wax our 29' for $100. Mobile RV service and propane available too. Walk to the beach, bay, or town. Free bus service just outside the gate. CON: County maintenance is behind on upkeep for the sites. In Feb. 2018, it was about 95% full. The registration closes at 6:00pm and is located 300 yards North of the park entrance by the KOA. Prior reviews cautioned about grass burrs or stickers. We did not find that to be accurate and should have brought the bikes anyway. We camped at Isla Blanca Park in a Travel Trailer.

Stayed here a month in Dec and bad luck....a lot of lousy rainy/cold weather. Luck of the draw. Cable TV worked well this time....last time, it was bad. Everything worked well but beware of the sticker burs in the grass....don't go barefoot and careful with dogs paws. Used Sierra RV for some repairs....they were good. Gas company (Hinojosa) usually has trucks in the area you can flag down or call and they'll be there quick. Also, lots of people there to clean your RV. Being so close to the beach is wonderful. When it comes to bang for the buck...it's hard to beat. We camped at Isla Blanca Park in a Motorhome.

This is a run down camp site. We couldn't find the sewer then found it under an overgrown grassy section. The camp sites are right by the beach!! Beautiful and the people who stay here during the winter are fantastic. We had to leave early as our dog got goats head stickers in him and it caused an infection. I was diligent taking them off him however they are relentless. Speaking of relentless, the mosquito's are super bad here!!! The campground next door is much nicer and it is mostly gravel so the stickers would be less of a problem and you can still walk to the beach however it will cost to come in. The staff for this campground albeit they are nice. but they don't really care about anything and do not have any information regarding the park. We had to pay for electricity. It's a weird thing they have you drive in then turn around in someone elses stall then drive back and back into your stall. There is no turn around at the end of the road. The guy at the building ( where you sign in) say no problem there is lots of room to turn around ( I looked at the map and went back in to ask even before we went in) NO ROOM TO TURN AROUND. We would come back without a dog and stay at the other campground. We camped at Isla Blanca Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Rate reflects weekly rate. When we first got there with 2 other couples we were all supposed to be booked in the same row but when we went to our site another unit was already there. Tried calling but the phone was busy so ended up having to drive back to the office. Luckily we got another site. Also make sure about the height of your coach as the entrance gate is only 13 feet high. Ours was over that so we had to pull through a side gate. Also watch out for tons of sand burs. Easy access to the beach which was pretty clean with nice sand and bathrooms. No pool which is a bit of a downer for us but not a deal breaker. Very reasonable monthly rates and most sites are well spaced. Lots of returnees who will install their own concrete or paving stone patios, fences and even out door showers! We would return.
