9 RV Parks near Sunset, Texas
Jan 2019 - $3.00
Stayed at Bay Landing in January in the off season. All buildings in our section were closed except business office to use internet. Staff was friendly. Roads were poorly maintained with large pot holes. Staff was trying to minimize these by putting large rocks in some of them. Sites were of good length and rustic right by the lake. 50 amp was an up-charge and not available in every site. Not good in this day and age. We did have full hook-ups in section 3 but only certain sites of the 25 sites had sewer. Most of the park was full time residents and did not have sewer hook ups. How does that work? Wild life especially dear were very plentiful. Overall not a bad park. - Wilhelms
Sep 2018 - $3.00
A great hidden gem of a park! The staff are very friendly and helpful! Lots of weekend activities for those interested. Most folks hang out to chit chat or play games in the main activity center. The sites were spacious and kept very clean! Even the annuals that are on site had well kept sites. Great views of the lake from various places throughout the campground. Groceries and dining was very close by (within 8 miles). First campground we'd been to within Thousand Trails where we met the campground manager. We would definitely come back here when in the area! - TxDorsey1975
May 2018 - $10.00
A very large facility, spread over many acres. Gravel/broken asphalt (lots of potholes, uneven paving) roads with a FIVE (5) mph speed made getting the 2+ miles from the gate to campsite a long drive. Campsites are set back from the road a distance, which allows plenty of space for tow vehicle, boat, etc. Replacement of picnic tables is highly recommended, as most units had extremely warped seats and table tops. Located on Bridgeport Lake, water interests can be met. The facility is family-friendly with miniature golf, court sports and spacious grassy areas. There is a pool, but was not yet opened for the season. - SeenAll50
Aug 2018 - $20.00
This park was right off the highway which was perfect for me as I was merely looking for a place to pull off and continue driving the next morning. Rate was either $18 or 20 with my Good Sam discount. My site was a pull thru which the owner said they leave available for people like myself. Site wasn't very level and had to put blocks under one side. Not bad but just enough that I would probably notice during the night. Grass was in pretty bad need of cutting but that didn't bother me in the least. Trains did run by right next to the campground pretty often so bring ear plugs if you are a light sleeper. Bring ear plugs if train noise bothers you at night. Power pedestal was easily accessible. Nearest restaurants several miles away so consider that when ready to eat. That said, I would stay here again if I ever pass back through. - rcknrbn
May 2018 - $13.00
Easy access off 287, relatively flat sites and good power and water. The staff here could not be nicer or more welcoming and even went so far as to run up to the cafe and collect our dinners for us as we were tired. You can hear the road traffic at night but it was not an issue. We'll stay here again as it's a great one night layover. - D and PK
Sep 2017 - $22.00
We stayed one night at this park while traveling to a destination. The park was not fancy but it was nice and fulfilled our needs. Our site was level enough that we didn't need to unhook our truck from our fifth wheel. Little restaurant close by could walk to. Easy on and off entry from road. Convenient. The park could use a little work but we would stay again and would recommend it for a one night stay. - Bax
Jan 2019 - $35.00
I have been to this park many times on the way to Colorado. However, this time it was different. The restrooms were spotless, the store and reception area were completely remodeled and the owner/receptionist was pleasent and helpful. I realized how much I liked the huge trees and updated look. My wife was very happy with the laundry room as well. - Michael Brooks
Oct 2018 - $28.00
We overnighted in a 5th wheel. Per the gentleman at the desk, ownership has recently changed. They are renovating the office so things were under construction. There appears to be 2 sections in the park, one with trees and secluded, the other (where we were) right on the frontage road by the freeway. The space was easy to get into (pull through) but there was quite a bit of freeway noise. The site was a little off level. They did have a few things in the little office store, including ice, which we needed. They gave a Good Sam discount and offered an addition discount because I'm a Vet. We would stay again for an overnight stop. - Motorcyclekelly
Oct 2017 - $25.00
Lot grass needed cut, clean restrooms, and showers. - Soup
Mar 2018 - $15.00
This place gave us the creeps. I was in the office paying for a campsite, and my husband came in and said to get my money back...we weren't staying. We both had an uneasy feeling - dogs running loose, an employee who appeared to be stoned. Sites are very close together and unkempt. - HuskerMama
Sep 2017 - $25.00
Pulled in before setting up went to use bathroom, walked in bathroom, no a/c, roaches in both sinks. Looked in showers same roaches had been there for some time. Pulled out with out staying. Called Manager with what we saw in both bathrooms, he replied he would check into in a few days, as he was out of town. - Soup
Apr 2017 - $15.00
This was just an overnight stay. Not much better than a Walmart parking but it was quiet. It is a funky, small, rundown place with mostly permanent residents. The lady managing the office was very nice. Greeted us as we arrived and said pick a spot then just come up to the office to register. Doubt that we would stay here again unless just for overnight. - Rick & Karen
Oct 2016 - $10.00
Selma Park is about 4 miles from State Highway 287. As such it is a convenient waystation for us.
1. Park is unkept - grass was knee-high. Sticker-burr grass was everywhere (if you have dogs, don't let them out!). Sites were not level, for the most part, and there was soil erosion in many places that made rig placement difficult.
2. Fire ants everywhere
3. Bathrooms were locked. We don't normally use them, but just fyi.
4. Dump station is a BIG problem. Water wasn't working. Ramp sloped away from the dump hole, so we had to use blocks to level the trailer to get everything out.
5. All the water locations had sign saying non-potable. We had our own, and others posting here said the water was OK, but was well water and as such couldn't be labeled potable. Your call...
6. Host wasn't around -we'll have to mail in our payment because there were no forms, and I won't just leave cash.
The shame of the state of disrepair is that this park has "great bones". The lake is attractive, there's a lot of waterfront, a fishing pier, and sites that are heavily shaded and some that are right out on a peninsula into the lake. This could be a beautiful go-to destination if they would clean it up. - TIN Diesel
Apr 2015 - $15.00
21 sites. Amenities: E,W, Dump. Bathroom and shower very dimly lit but clean. Sites with electric have relatively
new 50 amp service. Sites with water are labeled "not potable" but office person said its well water so the city can't label it potable. Site with electric & water are $15 (we had no discount). Verizon 2 bars. Mifi slow. Some sites have shade shelters, no grills. Some sites have tree shade some complete sun. Roads hard packed gravel, sites fairly level. We stayed in site 13, in a 39 ft motor home with well water and50 amp elec. Our Direct satellite TV service excellent. - User2477
Mar 2011 - $15.00
Close to home. Nice area on waterfront. Boats pull up to sites. Host is helpful and keeps watch out for others. - Sbates
Nov 2013 - $15.00
This is a decent city park type campground and is near town and Walmart. The city park looks more like a small fairground and is split into north and south parts by fence, the campground loop is in southern half of park behind city pool. Enter park at large gravel lot adjacent to pool. Showers are in small toilet block in front of community building which is in north half of park, 150 feet from campsites. M/F toilet rooms have 1 shower each, reasonably clean. Don't know about access to pool facilities in season. Sites are electric/water only but there is a dump in the exit of the campground loop. 7 day maximum stay. All sites have satellite views and there are a couple of off air English language TV channels. Good Verizon cell phone and Virgin Mobile (Sprint network) MiFi signals. The train tracks that parallel highway 287 are a couple of hundred yards away and are not too loud, no level crossings nearby to cause use of horn. Highway 287 is further away still and cannot be heard. - readontheroad
Jan 2019 - $36.00
We stayed here for an overnight on the road both ways between Sedona, Arizona and Shreveport, Louisiana. We are in a 36' coach and normally only use our own facilities, but this time we did not want to do all the hook-ups so we could get out early in the morning. We decided to shower in the bath house this time. WOW!!! The bathhouse was nicer than many hotels I've stayed in! Beautiful, large private bathroom with large shower area. Everything was beautifully appointed. Shower head was adjustable with multiple settings, seemingly endless hot water, and excellent water pressure. Everything was spotlessly clean. I may be easily pleased, but this made my day after a day of driving. We can very highly recommended this park as an overnight travel stop. It is extremely well run! - CamiB7
Jun 2018 - $40.00
Easy access from 287. Good Wifi, mostly level sites. Ours was open but many have trees. Some also have picnic tables. Interior roads easy to navigate. There is nothing around. Restaurants, etc. are only 9 - 10 miles down the road. We stayed here for a day to rest up from driving and would stay again if in the area. - dickens
Mar 2018 - $36.00
No over the air channels and poor wifi.. check in was nice. Few choices of rv parks before crossing Dallas. - Jimmy Swager
Feb 2014 - $25.00
We stayed at Paradise RV Park while my husband was working in Bridgeport TX for 1 month. This is a small very quiet park out in the country. It is all gravel and has no shade trees. There is no bath house but there is a washer and dryer available for use. The owners are very nice and the park is clean. There are no frill or extras but I would recommend them if you are in the area and need a quiet nights sleep or work in the area and don't want any drama that comes with some parks. We will use them again if in that area. - okies
Nov 2018 - $35.00
Good level concrete pads with good hookups. Nothing fancy but a nice place to stop for the night. Be careful coming in at the front and look for the RV entrance sign. Even then the driveway is very uneven on the way to the back where the park is located. If driving on 82 after dark be on the lookout for deer. We saw two and were grateful they were walking along the side and weren't startled by the traffic. They were big ones. - tb919
Sep 2018 - $35.00
This is a great little park and for us, it is halfway between Amarillo and home, an ideal overnight stop. The pads are concrete and level, the roads are crushed rock. If the wind picks up the dust from the roads, the conference center car park is like a sandstorm. Other than that, everything works just fine. The power, water and cable are good. The Wi-Fi can get a bit iffy at times but the AT&T signal is strong. I'm glad that I found this place and I'll be using it again on our trips out west. Come prepared. There is no campground store so bring groceries and anything else you will need!!! There aren't many places to eat (2 Mexican restaurants) and we never saw a grocery store but, I must admit, we didn't look too hard. - ETF
Mar 2018 - $35.00
This is a hidden gem! I was expecting the typical old motel with a run down patch of dirt with hookups, but not this place! The sites were behind a small hotel (not motel). They were spacious, very level, immaculate. We will definitely put this on our list as a stopping place when traveling this way. - Calteri
