Smaller park with 30 amp and 50 amp rv spaces, tent camping spaces and camping cabins. This used to be a KOA but is now privately owned. We stayed in site G6, a very long pull through (110') which was nicely level. The entire park is comprised of hard packed dirt/gravel and is open with limited shade. It gets windy here, and the dust can really kick up. All sites are FHU with cable and a few sites have a picnic table (ours didn't). Park is easy to get in/out of and is close to the highway but with minimal traffic noise. There is a nearby train, but the horns were nominal. They have decent amenities on site such as a pool (open May through September), laundry area, horseshoes, playground, fishing pond, dog park, propane service and even a café that serves breakfast and dinner. Office has decent selection of snacks, drinks and rv supplies. Bathrooms consisted of three showers and three toilets per gender and were cleaned daily. Utilities worked well and Verizon service was very good. Free wifi but we didn't use. Park is a good choice for a convenient overnight stop and we would stay again. We camped at Van Horn RV Park (formerly Van Horn KOA) in a Fifth Wheel.

Super clean, big sites, good interior roads. This place is a nice spot to stop over. They have a small fenced dog park and a cute playground that were nice too. The little cafe at the campground had decent food for a reasonable rate. This will definitely be on my list of preferred overnight stops. We camped at Van Horn RV Park (formerly Van Horn KOA) in a Motorhome.

We stopped on a trip out west and were favorably satisfied. While Van Horn is a desert and sandy town the RV Park does a good job of keeping the park well maintained and clean. Sites are spacious and our pull through was easy to park and the interior roads easy to navigate. Nice little dog park area and the park is well lit. Would stay here again. We arrived late, but they took good care of us. This is a great park and we will go back. We stayed one night on our trip, but would have loved to stay longer. Very level sites! They have a small diner that is open for breakfast and dinner. Work campers run it and the food was freshly cook, real eggs, etc. Loved it. Overall Rating:

We have camped at Van Horn RV Park once before. The PROs: Well-managed; friendly and accommodating staff; extremely safe; nightly rate is reasonable; on-site cafe; small store stocked with basic groceries and camping supplies; dependable electric/water/server service; and quick access to Interstate #10. The CONs: Few if any shaded sites; most sites are closely spaced; and, because the CGs is set on a flat desert plane and its interior roads are gravel, expect that there be times when the wind kicks up a bit of desert dust. Note: It's our impression that CG gustes are pretty evenly split between over-nighters and long-term residents. We camped at Van Horn RV Park (formerly Van Horn KOA) in a Travel Trailer.

Very clean park. Pull through site was easy in, easy out. Grounds were mostly red stone. Store was clean and well stocked with "extras" as well as an attached cafe serving breakfast and dinner at very reasonable prices. The managers were both friendly and helpful. I would recommend this park for enjoying the surrounding area for a few days. We camped at Van Horn RV Park (formerly Van Horn KOA) in a Motorhome.

We stayed for one night in Van Horn, headed westward to El Paso from Fredericksburg. This was previously a KOA park that has gone private. Typical of West Texas RV parks: it has no shade and gravel & dirt sites. The sites were level and the utilities worked. Each site has a courtesy light on the service pedestal which was nice at night.

This is an older RV park but the price, power, water and sewer services were fine. The park is near, but not too close, to I-10 so is relatively quiet. We heard a train horn in the distance occasionally, but not intrusive.

A cafe was on site however we did not use it. We did have an excellent dinner experience with some other overnight RV'ers we met, when we tried the Van Horn Cattle Company which was a gem of a restaurant in the town of Van Horn.

The park seems to function largely as an over-night park that filled in the afternoon and emptied out in the morning. We camped at Van Horn RV Park (formerly Van Horn KOA) in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Convenient for a affordable stopover and the town of Van Horn had a good restaurant (Van Horn Cattle Company). The food was excellent, well presented and was reasonably priced. We highly recommend this restaurant.

We stayed for 3 nights on our way west. This was an old KOA park that had gone private. It had that West Texas characteristic with no shade and gravel and dirt sites. The sites were level and the utilities were all working. They had a cafe on site however we did not use it. The park seemed to be an over nite park that filled in the afternoon and emptied out in the morning. They had two dog runs which on the website appeared to have green grass. Actually were dirt and patches off tiny burrs which had our small dogs limping. We didn't use them after the first day. That was one of our beefs with the place. Anything that looked like grass had burrs in it. The other problem we had with the place was the WiFi. If you are going to advertise that you have free WiFi it had better allow you to use it. Doesn't have to be fast but at least usable. Even in the middle of the day when the park was near empty it could not be used with any assurances. There is limited eye appeal in this large flat crushed gravel park, but obvious effort has been made to make the best of what it is. A few trees, metal sculptures, etc. It has the feel of a place that is well cared for. Site was generous and fairly level. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Showers/washrooms are a little dated, but in good shape, well maintained, and clean. They are in the process of being renovated, and the first step was a new floor. Looks like some sort of acrylic with a gray background, and colored flecking. Very attractive, durable, moisture proof, and easy to clean. New counters and fixtures on on order, and all should be spectacular when completed. Van Horn is a stopping point when crossing the huge empty expanse of West Texas, but this place has made itself into much more than a pit stop. We would definitely stay here again. This was our third visit to this park. We will probably return for overnight accommodations when travelling I-10. We received a friendly greeting. Our site served our needs. Most of the campers were, like us, in for the morning and out for the evening. We camped at Van Horn RV Park (formerly Van Horn KOA) in a Fifth Wheel.

We were very pleased with our one night stay here. The staff were friendly and accommodating. Our site was pre-assigned before our arrival, but the staff were able to move us to another site that suited our needs better. Easy access from Highway 90. In our spot, we had good WiFi outside the camper. All hook-ups worked fine with no issues. We were only here in the evening hours, so the lack of shade did not bother us. The only reason for 4-stars instead of 5 was our cost. We learned a valuable lesson about booking. Always call the park direct to book your reservation. We incurred a 39.6% upcharge booking online using RoverPass and did not get a Good Sam discount. We camped at Van Horn RV Park (formerly Van Horn KOA) in a Travel Trailer.

Nice place. Plenty of room for our slides. Could get a little muddy if they got a bunch of rain. Pedestal was sitting in direct sunlight and with both air conditioners going on 30 amp we tripped the breaker a couple of times. Coach was not pulling 30amps as we are aware of our electrical loads. Told them about it when leaving and she said they would replace the outlet. Good Wifi an no problem with my sat dish. Good place to overnight or rest up. Take a look at it with Google sat maps to see how to get from interstate to entrance. Not hard. Will stay here again. We camped at Van Horn RV Park (formerly Van Horn KOA) in a Motorhome.
