Water Valley is a tiny community with an RV park that is located just out of San Angelo, Tx. Tom Green County maintains the park. When you arrive at the campground, you park where there is an available site (first come, first serve). An attendant will come by your RV to collect payment. Even though there are no sewer hookups at the sites, there is a dump station. This is a beautiful park, next to a small river. It is very quiet & you can't hear highway noise. There are no showers, but there are small wooden structures with toilets. There is also a stone, covered building/pavillion that can be rented out. The lightening bugs are wonderful to watch here. There are lots of trees. This place is perfect for just getting away. - SassyPapasan

Not set up for anything but long term campers. Utilities were at the rear of RV and shared. We will not stay there again. Go farther into town! - MajandMrs

We loved this place and wished we could stay longer. We stayed in Red Arroyo, which sits a little higher so it was windy! And the landscape is a bit harsh - but that's west Texas. You can see both horizons, watch both the sunrise and the sunset. And the sunrise when we were there was at 7:44 AM since you are very far west in the central time zone. So you don't even have to get up early. The sites are beyond spacious and ours was level, utilities were fine. We appreciated the shaded picnic table. We went searching for the longhorn herd but did not see them. Saw the buffalo herd, though and a lot of deer. - janci

Plenty of space between sites. Fairly level pull through sites. I just needed a spot to spend the night while going across Texas, it was a good park for that purpose. - Sanders Michael
May 2018 - $20.00
We stayed for 2 nights on Site 4 of the Red Arroyo area with FHU. We did not have a view but the setting was still very nice. Had we known that a little further along we could have had a lake view, we would have asked for that. We didn't use restrooms. The level pull-thru was plenty long enough for our 35ft motorhome with tow and well away from the other sites. Nice covered picnic tables. Rangers were extremely helpful when we rang to book and advised us to enter via the South Entrance. A very quiet park but not much shade. It was very windy but also very warm. Would stay here again. - OzFrosty

They asked to call a cell # 15 min before arriving, I got no answer, called the office again and she had someone call me. Entrance is a little tight but not awful. Then directions to office are not obvious. Paperwork for overnight was intrusive... Date of Birth??? Employer??? 3 pages long... obviously set up for long term rental. They Recommend surge protection on Elect. Park is clean, reasonably quiet (a little road noise). WIFI instruction sheet came with a gift bag of 3 mini bottles of water, a packet of tissues and some candies. The instructions included the comment "When it works, it works, when it doesn't it doesn't"... slow, but ok for email. Map of park on wall in office is not to scale, I followed the route and couldn't make the turn, but circled around took a different route and made it OK. As an overnite it's OK. - Casarolls

Good value in a lovely town; we enjoyed two nights here. Gravel interior roads and sites which were "buddy" so we shared our common areas with the neighbor on door side and were very close on the hookup side Friendly folks offered good check-in experience and escorted us to our pull-through, just long enough WSE site with all functional services including cable tv. Iffy WiFi, good Verizon. Pool was closed. We enjoyed our two nights here as we explored the pretty river walk, nice downtown, and the lovely water lily garden. Would stay here again if in the area. - Janau NC
Oct 2018 - $33.00
We really liked this park. In some ways, it was a typical KOA, roads and sites were level gravel but pretty close together. There were some "premium" sites with much more space, patios, and fences between sites. The tent sites were very nice with raised spots and plenty of parking. The recycling center was great! I was absolutely thrilled to find an affordable KOA. We travel a lot and often avoid KOAs because of the expense. All utilities, including cable and wifi worked well and we were escorted to our site. Staff was very helpful, giving city maps and offering suggestions. The restrooms and showers were ceramic tile and very clean. There was even a huge handicapped shower stall. The laundry was small, with only 6 washers and dryers but very economical at $1.25 per washer and $1.00 per dryer. We would definitely stay here again. - SandyA
Sep 2018 - $35.00
We stayed one night at this park and it was excellent for that purpose. Our premium site was at the back of the park and it was a pleasant spot facing a the side fence and looking out into a green space. Much of the rest of the park, however, appeared to be a jumble of small sites, most of which were pure gravel with no tables, landscaping, etc. Most of these looked as if they were occupied by seasonal and/or long term occupants. We had to drive by lots of these sites as we were lead back to ours. Check-in was very efficient; we were handed a package of information without the desk person feeling obligated to explain all of it to us. I'm not sure why this park thinks it rates a KOA "Holiday" designation, rather than being classed as a KOA Journey park. An important tip about getting to the park if you are following the park's driving instructions which tell arriving customers to use Loop 306 to get to Knickerbocker Rd. Unfortunately, on the north side of San Angelo, the highway signs don't identify the road as Loop 306--the only signage calls it US 64. The Loop 306 designation shows up along the way but not when you're on US87 headed south. - docj

We are here for the winter. Gravel roads and sites, but not too muddy, even in rain. Picnic tables could use upgrades. Nice staff who help in any way they can. Nice shade trees. Many of the sites have a good amount of space between, but others are tight. Also, the road is a bit tight since many folks park their vehicles a little on the road making maneuvering a little hard. Hook ups are convenient. Internet seems to work well most of the time, although sometimes slow. Campground is on lake and there are ducks, tons of deer wandering through the campground....people feed them corn (watch for the deer manure), and some turkey wondering around. We like this campground...very quiet. Lots of folks are transient workers, so during the day, no one is around. Not a good place if you want to meet new people and have fun activities going on, but a nice park with a pretty setting. I promise, it is the only one in San Angelo that has lots of trees and is more than a gravel parking lot....we have searched. - Garebones
Sep 2016 - $50.00
Daily rates have jumped from $38.00 to $50.00 per day! Pricey? Compare the area's other RV Parks.... not a RESORT!
Has a very good store of RV goods and Ice, some food and cold beverages.
Many shade trees.
A little out of town, but right on a lake for fishing, swimming, water sports. - Blackie13
Aug 2016 - $55.00
We loved the new site renovations. They are large and spacious with fire pits and picnic tables. Quiet and peaceful on the lake. Lake front views, great walking/running paths. Bath facilities left a little to be desired. An upgrade to those facilities would be super. We have an RV so we were fine, but would have benefited from nicer facilities for restroom and bathing with having larger families. Love this park, great distance from our home in Midland. Can't wait to come back. - thecollinsclan

Park for active and retired military only. Two areas.. trees for long term, parking lot for others. Easy access, pull thru though we don't unhook and was out over travel lane and nobody had a problem. Stayed 1 night and didn't unhook due to early departure next morning. Check in was easy, very nice and professional. Would not recommend extended stay due to lack of shade trees and sparten parking lot conditions. We will stay again because of cost and convenience. Great park for passing through. - Semper Paratus
May 2018 - $20.00
We arrived at Goodfellow Rec Camp on a Wednesday afternoon for a two-night stay. We had made telephonic reservations 45 days out. However, the Office is closed on Wednesday, so when we arrived the Camp Host directed us to a couple 50A FHU back-in sites from which we could select. We parked and connected. Sites were concrete, however they had not been swept or edged in some time. Trees had not been trimmed, grass mowing, weed-eating, edging and cleanliness through-out the park was not a priority. An oddity was the enormous cast steel ground box with lid that covered the water hook-up. It had to be manipulated to access the water hydrant. No idea why that was there, it was so hot from the sun, when we arrived that you couldn't lift it without gloves. Trash cans had overflown near the restrooms. Camp host was very friendly and offered his assistance several times. I visited the Office the next morning to pay, they were not welcoming nor informative. Just took my payment. No welcome, do you have any questions, here is what we offer, etc. This park is in an excellent location, and with some work could be an outstanding park, however, currently it is not. - T_E_B
Nov 2015 - $15.00
The older area of the park is ok, with some shade, but the new area is just a parking lot. Not a very interesting or pretty park, but it is near a lake. It looks like a nice place for a big picnic, but not really great for a destination stay. The host was super friendly and helpful. The park is a few miles from the base, so no base services, but there is a gas/convenience store within walking distance. There was some traffic noise during the day, but it was very quiet at night. The wifi was inoperative and apparently, no one knows how to fix it. The cell service was good. I wouldn't go out of my way to visit this park, but it was a handy enough place to stay for a night. - KAP99
