This park is in need of some repairs. The pools are quite nice and kept very clean. We didn't use the restrooms located within the campground, but the ones near the pools were top notch and very clean! There are few 50 Amp FHU site available to transient traffic. There are several more that are "black bagged" (read: not available for use) in need of repair. The staff was helpful when needed, but I didn't really see them out and about or socializing at any time during our stay. We would likely stay here again, as is is close to family in the area. I wish they would work out a deal with the Corps of Engineers so that you could actually SEE and get to the lake easily. Not a whole lot to do around here. - TxDorsey1975
Apr 2018 - $3.00
This is a large campground with many camp sites. There are a few 50 amp sites, but they are limited in number with many sold to annuals. When we arrived on an April Monday there were still three 50 amp sites available to us so we picked the one we liked best and settled in. There are three camping loops: A, B, and D (loop C isn't open to the public). Loop D is closest to the campground entrance. While most of the campsites are full hookup, 30 amp sites you want to know that there are water-electric only sites scattered around the campground. You'll want to keep the campground map before you as you pick your site. Loop A, which is the farthest in from the entrance (over a mile) has a row of pull through sites. Again, keep an eye on your campground map as some don't have a sewer hookup. We had a nice 50 amp back-in site. While we weren't alone, there were many vacant spots all around us, making for a quiet, enjoyable stay. We were also an easy walking distance to the Adult Lodge. (I'll mention that the road by Loop A is bordered by a golf course and once we came within just a few feet of being hit by a golf ball.) Neither of the pools were open yet but we checked out the game room, workout room, and lodge. A bit farther is the parking lot for those wanting to hike the trail taking them off the Thousand Trails property down to Lake Whitney. Really, there's not much reason to come to Lake Whitney Thousand Trails to enjoy Lake Whitney. The only real negative to Lake Whitney Thousand Trails is the roads. Honestly, they are really bad. The mile in from the highway to Loop A gets worse the farther you get into the campground. While we liked the campground and enjoyed the campsite we certainly didn't like bringing our camper in over the pothole filled road. If I were rating this campground based on campsites and amenities, I think I would give it an eight. However, if you factor in the roads that rating drops down to maybe a six. - nazpaz
Mar 2018 - $3.00
Rate reflects 50 amp charge for thousand trail membership. Few 50 amp sites and some did not have sewer. Lots of sites covered with black plastic bags having electric problems but they were working on some sites. Roads in bad condition and many sites weren't level. Spread out with over a mile between office and children pool and the adult center and pool. Buildings old but clean. Park had lots of activities over spring break and a restaurant on site. Lots of trees for shade and two pools probably a nice place in the summer. Many trees and some sites hard to get into because of all the trees. Our fault but lost our awning to one tree. Watch out for the trees. We would come back to this park. - fulltimehusker

Nov 2016 - $14.00
Great view of the lake where we were able to tie the boat close to the campsite. Very quiet for deer watching. It is a CoE campground so not a lot to do other than walk the park, fish, and read; which is just what we like to do. The campsite flooded in the spring which may have contributed to the site surface being unlevel and although a pull-through it was not as long as other parks. Overall, an enjoyable long weekend! - PandL5thwheel
Sep 2014 - $30.00
This is a nice Corps of Engineers campground on the lake. The sites are spacious and well maintained. Restrooms have been updated and are kept clean. The grounds are patrolled frequently and rules enforced. It is a great family campground. - Fly N Camp
Sep 2012 - $20.00
We really enjoyed the park. The service was friendly and the park was clean. A very nice overnight stay to Colorado. - goodnightfamily

Very nice hosts welcomed us to the park and showed us to our site. However, this was not the type of RV park we usually like to stay in. Perhaps I didn't read the reviews carefully enough, but it's basically a permanent RV park where the folks own their site and have erected (very nice looking) metal buildings over their RVs, cars, etc. The only temporary RV sites are in the center of the loop - all very close and not really appealing. The pads were concrete but not super level. The nicest two end spots (in the photographs) are the hosts'spots. The wooded picnic area overlooking the lake is quite a ways down a hill & a bit of a hike and not near the RV sites. You can't even see the lake from the RV sites. Most of the temporary RV's appeared to belong to long term workers. Nothing wrong with that- it just didn't have the "campground" feel we were expecting, more like a trailer park. It did however, feel very safe as community is gated and the folks were all super friendly. - Jeni
Dec 2014 - $25.00
LakeLife is a lovely campground situated right on Lake Whitney. The park offers amenities such as nice clean bathrooms, free wifi, and laundry and it is run by very friendly and knowledgeable staff. Lots are paved with large trees for shade and privacy as well as open grassy areas. A short trail at the back of the park leads down to water, a great spot to watch the sunset! Additionally, McCowen Valley Park is located less than a mile down the road; great for hiking, boating, and even horseback riding.
LakeLife is conveniently located to conveniences such as fuel and groceries.
Highly recommend, pet friendly! We camped at Lake Life RV (Formerly Lake Whitney RV Community) in a Travel Trailer. - ProRVer
Sep 2014 - $25.00
Spent a week there over Labor Day weekend. Had been there also in 2012. The new manager/owner was very helpful. Check in was a little different (call owner's cell phone) put went very smooth. Had good neighbors. Had some problems with WIFI, but owner went above and beyond to get it fixed.
All in all a very good stay. We will be back. - Mad Mike

This COE campground is not very well maintained. It appears to need a good mowing with tall grass/weeds growing throughout the park. Even the playground area was in dire need of mowing. The sites which are gravel and grass are fairly spacious but a lot of them are uneven. Our campsite 67, beside the lake along with 5 others, were in a fenced area which was a bit mysterious. In looking at the other sites in this area, ours appeared to be the most level with a nice big tree which offered some shade There is no swimming beach as of this review although the day use area close to the park entrance was under construction so would assume there will be a beach in the future. Lots of nature watching here with white egrets making a nightly journey to bird island just up the lake from the campground, cranes, turtles and deer running through the park. We were invaded by ants in our motor home, something that we have never experienced. While the maintenance was disappointing, we did enjoy our site by the lake watching the egrets and the beautiful sunsets. Not sure we would return. - Budmobile

Great park good friendly staff well marked lots of room between sites, most had covered picnic tables all in very good condition. We recommend this campground. And only $14.00 a night it is a bargain - Johnjean
Nov 2016 - $14.00
We stayed at the Lofers Bend West Campground which is adjacent to the East Campground. It is an Army COE camp and very clean and well maintained. Campground was full the Weekend after Thanksgiving. Most of the park has paved roads, but we stayed in W03 which is on a gravel road. No issues parking, but leaving was difficult because we had to back the trailer following the same route in. The loop road was very rough with very low large trees and is basically impassible for most 5th wheels. Again, our location was an exception. We would stay gain. - MajorJeff
Dec 2014 - $12.00
I stayed here for one night and luckily was the only camper staying there. Lots of large trees and many spots right on the lake. Really spacious spots and easy to park. Also, herds of deer were milling around the campers. I would like to come back to spend more time and visit the park. - ProRVer

Oct 2010 - $40.00
This RV park shows no pictures of the RV sites on their website and there is a reason for that. The park is very ran down. The sites are so unlevel that there is no way to get your rig level no matter what you do. The road (Juniper Rd) that you have to travel down to the RV park is so rough and narrow you have to wonder if you will have a RV left once you get there. The owners of the park are very unfriendly and not helpful at all. When we arrived we were the only customers in the park and it remained that way for our 4 day stay. The wireless Internet service was a joke, there was no service. And forget using your satellite dish, too many trees. The restrooms and showers I did not go into, because they looked so old and run down. Way over priced at $40.00 per night. My advise is to go stay at the COE Park or Whitney State Park. - Tammy Blair
Nov 2007 - $25.00
Nice park that is a part of a full service marina. County road into park is a little rough but gravel interior roads are OK. Very large and wide gravel and grass sites, most with some shade. RV park has one section with some 50 amp service full hook up. The rest of the sites are all 30 amp. The other three sections are 30 amp water and electric only. Dump station on site. They also have air conditioned camping cabins for those who do not RV or tent camp. A great place to combine water sports and camping. - Bullrider

Oct 2018 - $24.00
We camped in the Horseshoe Loop with full hook up for the Columbus Day weekend, arriving Friday around 5pm with reservations made 183 days prior. Park Ranger assigned us to site #31 upon my request for a shady site. Site #31 is a asphalt pull-thru with a slight lake view, not lake front. About 1/4 mile from site to the lake. Fairly level site with a concrete picnic table and metal fire ring with a cooking grate. Generous space between our site #31 and the neighboring sites. Site #31 has next to no shade over the RV parking area. There are trees further away from the RV and picnic table. The restrooms/showers for Horseshoe Loop are away from all campsites. They are old and NOT ADA compliant, in fact, there is a small step into the facility. No ADA compliant shower or toilet stall. Cleaned daily, except for Sunday. AT&T coverage = 1 bar Camp host is in Horseshoe Loop, but never encountered them over the 3 days. Very quiet campground - no highway noise. Very happy to see campers without a million strings of lights throughout their sites. Facilitates very good night sky viewing. Saw a couple of deer only once, probably due to dogs at neighboring sites. - napunani
Oct 2017 - $24.00
Park was very well kept. It was clean, quiet, lots of deer. Sites were spacious, some shaded some not. WIFI was good, Verizon LTE/3G was ok. Water access good for boating. Firewood available in the park via vending machine (credit card swipe). Also saw an onsite airstrip where RC modelers were flying. The two trails were short, well kept and a nicely shaded. - starcraft35
Sep 2017 - $20.00
We stayed in Sunset Park area of the park and I can not say one bad word about our experience here. Well maybe that it was a little too windy for my husband to fish, but that is by no means the fault of the park. We had the most perfect spot in the whole park, right on the water. We sat out most of the day and enjoyed the gorgeous lake view and cool breezes, then at night we moved right out to the water and watched the sun set over lake. There is a fire ring which we used once. The public restrooms were damaged during the floor in the spring and are still not working but did not pose a problem with us. There are many walking, hiking or riding trails around the lake. Roads are in good shape. Was well kept, clean and well monitored at all times by the park rangers. You could not ask for nicer park rangers they were supper friendly and helpful. I know we will be back many times to enjoy this wonderful State Park on Lake Whitney. - True Texas

We usually like staying at COE parks and expect them to be rustic; however, this one was pretty run down and was in need of maintenance, mowing, etc. Our gravel site was somewhat unlevel, but not so bad that our automatic levelling system couldn't get us level. The restrooms/showers were filthy, and shower heads were missing in both the ladies' and men's restrooms making showering most difficult. We would not stay here again. - golfkitty
Sep 2015 - $7.00
There are many deer and turkeys that visit you daily and some of the greatest sunsets over Lake Whitney. The sites are level, partially shaded, and within view of the lake , with distance between them. - tcurex
Apr 2012 - $16.00
We were in the "older" part pull-through campground. Good shade, but difficult to get into and pads are short, at a bad angle and not level. Very pretty area. We would camp there again, just be more selective of our site. - mcguyvered

Much farther from Dallas than we thought. Very large campground. Not many daily sites in use - maybe 7 besides us. WiFi only in the clubhouse. - Masterchiun

Very nice stay at this RV park. Very clean. Staff and other campers very friendly. Lots to do, potluck dinners, card playing, crafts. Will definitely return. - Cursan1
Nov 2012 - $10.00
Dry, very very dry, will be your first impression of this park after you get through the bumpy ride to the office. It is very obvious this park needs TLC right from the start. Roads are very rough. No Wifi or internet access, cell phone service good, shared “yards” (units face one another) and power poles are shared. Electric is site assigned, although I am sure if a 30 & 50 amp were on the same pole regardless of site assignment a “user” would use their preference if they arrived first. Laundry Facilities were clean; $1 to wash or dry. Restrooms, showers were clean and appeared to be recently remodeled with water saver shower heads. Fishing on Lake Whitney is fee based. $10 per vehicle and $6 per person, $3 per person at Lake Whitney State Park, and / or a 5 mile drive from the RV Park. There is no fishing or lake access on the park property. Although we do not play golf, we took a drive through and the golf course appeared bristly and dry. Looking like it hadn’t been watered all summer just like the rest of the park. There are an abundance of rude “permanent” residence, in RV’s, travel trailers, and mobile homes. Most are parked under “Texas Canopies” as they call them. The managers say they have new owners. They need “new” something, ie owners, managers, “attitudes” of what an RV Resort should be. We do not recommend this park, other nice parks in the area. - Full-Timer RV'er
