Older park, but nice spacing between sites. Park is a bunch of ~6 site wheels that work out pretty well. Sprint/ATT Cell was fine as was OTA Channels. Trees were also low enough that Dish worked great. Trails were wet from recent rains, but we were able to ride bikes around and see the prairie dogs, beach, piers, etc. Nice park for on overnight stay. We camped at Lake Arrowhead State Park in a Motorhome.

This is a great park. We arrived on a Sunday and departed on Tuesday. It was very windy and there were a few storms, so we didn't do too much hiking. We loved watching the prairie dogs. Our site had a few medium sized trees, so there was a little shade. There were very few other campers in our area. We camped at Lake Arrowhead State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Overall Rating:

This park has an interesting layout, with 8 circles each having 6 sites. A few of the circles have one pull-through space, and they're long enough for the biggest rigs - over 100'. Spaces 49-67 are along the water, but they don't have electric, only water. The bath/shower house is centrally located in the loop with the circle sites. There is a oil pump jack across from the bath house, and it runs constantly. Outdoors the noise is similar to the drums you'd hear in an old western movie - the trees seem to help dull that a bit, so keep that in mind when choosing your site. A fan or noise machine indoors would help with that, it didn't bother us too much and was kind of a unique feature. There are nice day-use areas on the waterfront with picnic tables, playgrounds, and a boat launch. The fishing appears to be very good, and the lake is popular with the locals, but once the weekend was over we had the campground to ourselves. We were the only ones in our loop, just us and the three prairie dogs. We had a very pleasant stay here. We got the OTA channels from Wichita Falls, and had fair AT&T data service until evening, when it slowed to practically nothing. Verizon worked a little bit better. We camped at Lake Arrowhead State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

There is one trail that pretty much runs from the north end of the park to the south end, with loops at each end. Both ends were closed when we were there, probably due to water inundation. The lake seemed very high. There are a couple of smaller loops that were open, and they have a frisbee golf course along with equestrian sites and trails.

Lovely park with W/E sites with dump station. About 6 sites in each loop, well spaced. The bathhouse is old but clean and is also the storm shelter. Dark at night so awesome stargazing. Flat, paved roadways good for biking. Lots of folks fishing off the docks and boats. Prairie Dogs delightful to watch; lots of birds. Heard what we think were coyotes howling in the evening. Site 36 is nice as you open to the trees, no one on that side. Very strong Verizon service, streaming worked. We camped at Lake Arrowhead State Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Activities in the park such as fishing, hiking, boating/kayaking, swimming. Wichita Falls about half an hour away and has the usual stores like Walmart, Target, grocery, etc. Lucy Park/The Falls has pretty hiking paths. McBride's Steakhouse has excellent food, reasonable happy hour beer specials.

Nice state park, not much shade. Surrounded by small trees for privacy on the site. Covered picnic tables which gives relief to the sun. No sites on the lake but it's close by. Good ATT service and open skies for satellite. Good for an overnight is passing through the area. Price was $22 plus $4 per person. We camped at Lake Arrowhead State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Our campsite, #22, was excellent. It is close to the lake, easy back-in, and a few trees for shade. The only negative was that the restrooms needs a good cleaning. We camped at Lake Arrowhead State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Overall Rating:

This is a nice state park. It has big spacious lots, both drive through and back in. There are sites with water and electric, and site with water. None have sewer. The lake itself and is large and there is a beach and fishing docks. The first thing we noticed was an abundance of words and the second under of prairie dogs. There were prairie dog mounds and holes all over our campsite and they were fun to watch. If you don't like prairie dogs park nearer the gate. The prairie dog town is around sites 37 and higher. There is an old, noisy, smelly, pump jack still pumping sweet crude near the washrooms. The steady thumping would have driven me crazy during the night so we parked far away. The washrooms were older and need a paint job but they were clean. Staff was friendly and helpful. We were there in December and it was very quiet, less than 1/4 full. We camped at Lake Arrowhead State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Overall Rating:

An older Texas State Park with very little shade other than from mesquite trees. The sites are fairly level, with a concrete patio and covered picnic table which did provide some shade. It was too hot to walk any of the hiking trails, but we did enjoy watching the prairie dogs and looking at the birds on the lake. The rangers were very helpful and friendly. We camped at Lake Arrowhead State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Overall Rating:

This is a clean, but somewhat dated park. We stayed in site #20 in one of the "pinwheels" next to the lake. Each pinwheel includes one very long pull through. Our site was very grassy, spacious, and had a patio with metal roof, picnic table, and fire ring.

This park had several unique features. First the good: (1) There is a self-serve firewood kiosk (that takes credit cards only!) right by the main gate. This is so helpful, especially if you arrive after hours. (2) Prairie Dog Town (as listed on the park map) is absolutely full of playful prairie dogs that are fun to see. (3) There is a neat 18 hole disc (Frisbee) golf course that we enjoyed. On the other hand, there is a noisy, horsehead oil pump that runs 24/7 right across from this loop. We could easily hear it inside and out; it bothered different ones of us to different extents.

We had excellent LTE cell signal (AT&T) and got about 6 channels via OTA antenna. If you need supplies, town is probably 15-20 mins away.

Other campers said the fishing is often quite good. Looks like a great place to bring along the boat. The staff was very friendly. We would return, but probably as a stopover rather than a destination. We camped at Lake Arrowhead State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Overall Rating:

We camped at Lake Arrowhead State Park site 21 in February 2016. The park is 10 miles south of Wichita Falls, Texas. The lake is full and looks great. Nice hiking trails. The RV sites are in an unusual pinwheel layout with six sites per loop which provides large sites that are easy to maneuver. There are many prairie dogs is the day use area. Our site #21 has a view of the lake. Mesquite is the predominate tree and most sites do not have shade. The RV sites have 50/30/20 electric and water with a central dump station. Rate was $20/night. We camped at Lake Arrowhead State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

One of the better Texas State Parks we've stayed at. Staff was great. Very level, well spaced sites, good 50 amp power and water. No sewer, but a dump station. Lots of cute prairie dogs. Wichita Falls is a short distance away. We camped at Lake Arrowhead State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

I agree completely with the previous review. Sites are level and long enough for motorhome and towed. Park is close enough to Wichita Falls, 16 miles, to get several TV stations over the air. Nice covered picnic table. Only demerit was a noisy oil well pump jack close to the site. Not visible or so loud you could hear it inside the coach, but audible if outside. Rate reflects State Parks pass discounts. Would stay again. We camped at Lake Arrowhead State Park in a Motorhome.

Rate reflects discount with Texas State Park pass. This is a very nice park, located SE of Wichita Falls. Close enough to get to town but far enough that noise isn’t a problem. The staff is very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. The sites are set up in small circles, spaced nicely apart. The pull through sites are very generous, easy for big rigs. The lake was low while we were here so it was quiet, which is fine by us. Lots of birds and there are prairie dog ‘towns’ all over the park. Level, easy walking. Power was steady, and water pressure was fine. No sewer at site, but dump station provided. Park was clean and although there is no gate, there was not a lot of ‘cruising’ traffic. We would stay here again when in the area. We camped at Lake Arrowhead State Park in a Motorhome.

Nice empty and quiet park, loops have about 6 sites and just about everyone here had their own loop. Sites are long, hard packed gravel with trees, covered picnic tables and fire rings. There are all kinds of birds around the site and some prairie dogs near the picnic area around the boat launch. Over the air TV was good, and the data card worked well with antenna and amp. They have trails to walk and deer to see. Rate is for water and electric $20 plus $3 per person entrance fee. We would camp here again. We camped at Lake Arrowhead State Park in a Motorhome.
