This was a pretty average KOA in some ways but we stayed over the Labor Day weekend in a private hot tub site. That was the reason for the expensive daily rate. They did do the sites up right though. The private hot tub was like new, and there was a 6' privacy fence around most of it. Then an inner rod iron fence around just the hot tub had a locking gate on it. The patio was spacious and it also came with a table and chairs, wood swing and a pretty new BBQ. Even though the park was really busy for the holiday, the way the site was set up made it feel roomy. They completely emptied the hot tub and refilled it prior to our arrival. The lake is across the road from the RV park, and recreational activities are everywhere. There is still all of the family friendly activities that KOA is known for. There are also lots of activities in the town to keep you busy as well. Our T Mobile air card worked well here but the park does offer free Wifi. We never had a chance to inspect the park restrooms but they were all quite busy during our stay. They were handicapped accessible though. There is a small store right in front of the park that has a small selection of groceries and camping needs, and a small hardware store next to that. This was a pricey stop but to have your own private hot tub once in a while is great. I will come back here in the future. We camped at Bear Lake / Marina Side KOA in a Motorhome.

This is a very busy park in the summer. The sites and costs depend on what you want. They have very nice luxury sites with private patios and hot tubs but expensive. The normal pull thu is reasonable. The interiaor roads are gravel but wide. The sites are gravel with trees and some grass between. The sites are close. The staff is friendly and helpful. There is a grocery store and a hardware store next to the park. It worked well for our visit to the area. We camped at Bear Lake / Marina Side KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

The park is older but in good condition the family that is running it was nice. There is bikes to rent for the bike path around the town. The place is very kid friendly with a lot of activities to do; pickle ball, shuffle board, play ground, horse shoes, banana bikes, jumping pillow, mini golf. The place has well established trees so there is plenty of shade and also has private sites with hot tubs and fenced in. Nice over all place. The lake is beautiful would love to come back and stay a lot longer. We camped at Bear Lake / Marina Side KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

There is a grocery store out front and a hardware store both very well stocked for the sizes that they are. There is a marina nearby to rent water craft. Shore fishing is probably better on the other side of the lake.

We thought this was a nice, quiet park; but we were here mid week, and off season, so there were very few other campers. As noted by others, mature trees are nice, gravel sites with grass between. Sites are close, but with very few guests during our stay, we were all spread out for more privacy. With the amount of playground amenities, this is probably a very busy family park in the season. Love having grocery store and hardware store right next door. Staff was pleasant and efficient. Showers nice! Due to lack of space, they only had small dry off area with wall hooks. Laundry facility okay, little cramped. We paid extra to have Wi-fi, but was slow, even with only a few of us there. We camped at Bear Lake / Marina Side KOA in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

Spent a long weekend here; Thursday night was quiet, Sunday night was very quiet; the rest of the weekend was crowded, busy and: since we were near a large group camping together - noisy. However, quiet hours really did go into effect, which in some campgrounds they don't do.

A good third of the campground is cabins, both with and without private bath. Campsites are tight together, but when the campground is not full, staff go to the trouble of assigning sites spaced apart from each other when possible, which we appreciated. Sites themselves are largely grass & dirt (mixed); a few are gravel, with patios. More shade in the grassy sites, from a mix of medium to large trees. Hookups in the 30-amp pullthroughs, where we were, are back-to-back, which gives you a nice large "front yard" if you're camping with another family, but awfully close "streetsides" with another camper when you're not.

Staff was friendly & helpful, and they were always busy maintaining the place, so it's clean and well-tended. The private bathrooms (with toilet, shower & sink) were delightful. Just not quite enough of them for this fairly large campground (though we never had to wait to use them).

Lots to do in the campground and in the area, and the staff have handy maps of Garden City and the Bear Lake area, and will recommend restaurants and places to visit. Probably the best choice among the private campgrounds in the area, especially for families with kids. We camped at Bear Lake / Marina Side KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Be sure to have a raspberry shake: they're "the thing" in this area. Plenty of places to choose from! Both north & south ends of the lake have state parks with beaches (fee entry), and there are other public beaches along the lake as well.

2-lane bike trail in town; campground will allow their rental bikes to go out on this trail. Lots of water activities (and rental shops for equipment) in town too.

Rate was for 30A. Typical KOA overpricing, but this is one of the best KOA's, coast to coast. The staff confused us though. We only needed 30A, and the park was near empty. They initially put us in a site next to another RV, but decided since they were near empty they would move us to another site so as to not be crammed in with a neighbor. For unknown reasons they moved us to a 50A site, did not charge us the extra $, & it was between 2 other RV's. I'm still scratching my head...Nice sites, level, hookups all at convenient heights and distances, nice family oriented amenities as described by other raters. We camped at Bear Lake / Marina Side KOA in a Motorhome.

The first night we were here was a holiday weekend and they were full so it was crowded. The next day half the park left and it was comfortable! Most of the park is 30 amp and half of the park does not have sewer hookups. There are 50 amp sites and they cement pads where the 30 amp sites are all just grass/dirt which at the height of summer is mostly dry grass/dirt. The sites are fairly level. The area I was in, the sites were quite roomy -- you didn't feel like your neighbor was on top of you. Bonus for the mature trees. They have a lot of cabins and tent sites. They have an overflow storage area that they let us leave our trailers in after checking out so we could go see Minnetonka Cave (you need a reservation if you don't want to wait 4 hours, so we didn't see it). They have miniature golf, a decent playground, an air pillow (think trampoline on steroids), pool, arcade area, ice cream shack, grocery store, ACE hadrware, bike rentals, all on site. Kids seem to really like this place. In the summer there is a local playhouse that does fantastic shows -- check out Pickleville Playhouse which is just down the road (we saw Beauty and the Beast). Most people come here for Bear Lake, but there are other things to do in the area. Paris Ice Caves, the Paris Tabernacle tour, Minnetonka Cave and up in Montpelier there is an Oregon Trail living museum/exhibit that I hear is good. We camped at Bear Lake / Marina Side KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

We arrived on 5-8-12 (Thursday) the key to our cabin was left at the front desk and a friendly man helped us. He said he was the maintenance employee and this is not his normal job. He was fussing with the computer and after a few attempts he pulled up our reservation. He said we need to wait for the manager to pay the balance on our bill. Later on we meet the manager. He was very professional and polite. The female employees throughout our stay were not as friendly. We got the impression that they did not like their job. The cabin needed corners, and behind the T.V. cleaned. There was a broom to sweep with but no dust pan to pick up the dirt. The first few nights were very peaceful. however, on Saturday evening the tenants in the cabin next to us ignored the quiet time and children-unsupervised rules. I and other visitors complained and the next morning we overheard the loud neighbors telling their children to be quite or we may get kicked out. The store prices are double to triple the price as compared to a supermarket. If it was not for the above issues I would have rated higher. We camped at Bear Lake / Marina Side KOA in a Campground Cabin.

Nice campground, very nice staff. Grass and dirt sites, but almost level enough to not need any blocks. Lots of shade trees. Large grocery store and also a hardware store right in front of the complex. Not much to do in Garden City unless you have a boat, but a nice stopover for a night or two. We camped at Bear Lake / Marina Side KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Nice KOA but no access to Bear Lake. You can walk (about a mile) to a marina but no beach. If you have a car it is a great spot to set up base camp. There is a LARGE grocery store and a True Value hardware on the premise. Also something I have never seen. A jumping pad. It's like a trampoline in the ground but it's a big blown up pillow. I'm old but I had to try it out. Great Fun!! We camped at Bear Lake / Marina Side KOA in a Motorhome.

We stayed in the Garden City KOA in camping cabins for two nights and were very pleased. There were trees over our cabins and fans inside them to keep them cool. The cabins were very clean when we arrived. We were close to the bathrooms and the pool. There is a small grocery store next door for any food needs. Their bathrooms are very clean: they clean them twice a day! Our kids loved the pool, but the water was somewhat cloudy. Overall, a great place to stay with a family! We camped at Bear Lake / Marina Side KOA in a Campground Cabin.

This park is more than adequate. The spaces were sufficient for my 40' 4 slide MH. The bathroom were clean and adequate. Our only complaint was with the wireless network. As in most of the parks, they should update the systems to be stronger and quicker. There was a market next to the park that was great. If you can, enjoy the local theater called "Pickleville" it was great and the steak was great. I would stay here again with no problems. We camped at Bear Lake / Marina Side KOA in a Motorhome.

Price to high for what you get. Sites very close, not much grass. Way too many four wheelers. Very crowded, very noisy place. Kids love it but not great if you want peace and quiet. Charge extra for just about everything. We camped at Bear Lake / Marina Side KOA in a Fifth Wheel.
