Jordanelle Hailstone section is a series of camping loops on terraces above the lake. The sites are paved, with an adjacent fire pit, barbecue grill, and picnic table. Site spacing is pretty generous, with good space between rigs. Some leveling will be required, but we had no trouble. Water and electric are available. Access to the reservoir and boat ramp is quite nearby. The restrooms were clean and well stocked. The camp hosts were very nice, and greeted us several times during our stay. We had trouble with the water spigot spraying around the connection to our filter, our pressure reducer, and our fresh water hose. Even putting plumber's tape on the connector did not stop the spray. We used our fresh water, and refilled our tank with their spigot, rather than connecting to our city water input and spraying water everywhere. The other issue we had was the smell of the dump station reached us at our campsite on the Wasatch loop, despite choosing a site farther away from it. The smell was not strong, but it was unpleasant. It caused us to close our windows and roof vents and run the AC at night. We would stay at Jordanelle again, but not in Wasatch loop. We camped at Jordanelle State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Visit Utah Olympic Park, we saw ski jumpers practicing while we were there. Get online early to reserve, the good spots go very fast. Avoid Wasatch loop, at least in the summer, due to the breeze carrying the sewer scent of the nearby dump station.

Very nice place to stay. Our site was very close to level and right on the lake which was still a ways away because the lake level is down.

Very nice state park with great views of the mountains and lake. Site was paved but needed to level the trailer a bit. The sites have lots of room and a good distance between sites. The park is a short drive to Park City. We will definitely make a return visit in the future. We camped at Jordanelle State Park in a Travel Trailer.

This is the second time we have stayed at Jordanelle and both times we enjoyed the park and nearby areas. The park is easy to find and has good roads to the park and inside the park. At this time of the year there is nobody manning the entrance gate and we never did see any park personal, but there was a campground host nearby. This was fine with us as we had a reservation and our name was on the post at the site. Most sites are only water and electric. I don't think any of the sites, other than host sites, have sewer. Our site had fantastic views of the water and the mountains in the background. This is why we like it here so much. From our site it probably was no more than 25-30 yards down to the water. Both electric and water worked fine, but we did unhook the water at night due to sub freezing temps. The site was a paved pull through and had a nice fine crushed stone pad with picnic table and fire pit/grill all facing the water and mountains. We did not use the restrooms which are nearby. Our Verizon cell phone worked OK and we picked up a few OTA channels. The beauty of this park is that it is also fairly close to Salt Lake City (about 45 minutes away) and closer to Park City and Deer Valley. We will camp here again when in the area. We camped at Jordanelle State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

For grocery shopping and/or propane go to nearby Heber City. For a fun time go into the historic part of Park City. There are plenty of very good reastaurants and plenty of unique shops. Also check out nearby Deer Valley ski area. If you have not been to Mormon Square in Salt Lake City it is a must. Excellent tours and good restaurants on the grounds. A great way to spend a half a day or more.

Overall Rating:

This is a great looking state park campground with a nice view of the reservoir. The facilities are in great shape and the park roads are all paved. Two downsides however. First are the very unlevel campsites. Only a few are what you would consider close to level. We picked the most level one we could find and the front wheels of our coach were well off the ground to get to level. You would think if the went to the trouble of paving them they would have gotten them more level first. The second downside may have been unique to our site, not sure. The voltage was very low. 105 VAC on both L1 and L2 of the 50A service. It kept tripping our voltage monitoring system. We didn't check other sites to see if they were the same. Verizon signal was good. We camped at Jordanelle State Park in a Motorhome.

This is a beautiful park. Nice view of the lake from our site. Sites have picnic tables, fire rings with hangers and charcoal grills. Our pull thru site was a little steep but ok. It was fall and the leaves were beautiful even though we were a week early. Even in a 40' motorhome I would prefer a back-in site here but we did ok in a pull thru (not real level). Took a bit of maneuvering to get situated. We were in site 71 and had a nice view of the lake. Restrooms and showers were clean enough. Shower water got warm/hot quickly even though it was chilly outside. We only had one issue, the power. We had a 30A site (would have preferred 50A but didn't state that to the entry person that). The voltage fluctuated between 123V to 106V. At 106V our energy management system kicks out. So we ended up running the generator that evening. No one else had an issue but they were all TT so no energy management system on board. Definitely would stay here again. Girl at the gate was very pleasant. No additional tax. Dump station. We camped at Jordanelle State Park in a Motorhome.

We camped here in a motor home. The sites are very well maintained and clean. This is a mountainous area and the sites are not quite level but we had no problem leveling with a couple of blocks. I've never seen harder working camp hosts and maintenance folks. We enjoyed it, even saw a moose walk down to the edge of lake, walk in and get a drink. We stayed a week and had no problem using the on line reservation system. Would highly recommend it. It looks like almost all sites have a view of the lake and mountains....stunning. #18 - needed a bit of leveling. We camped at Jordanelle State Park in a Motorhome.

This is a beautiful state park! We loved our site #61 which was a pull-through and the outdoor living area was very private. The opposite side had a view of the lake, but our living side did not. The site was level and plenty long enough for our 41 ft. 5th wheel and truck. The surrounding mountains were covered in gorgeous fall colors. The day we got there it was snowing a little bit and the mountains in the distance were covered in snow, but during the week it melted. It was so beautiful! Verizon worked well there. We were not too far from Park City Mountain where we spent a day playing on the alpine slides and coaster. That was so much fun! We loved our stay there and would definitely return next time we are in the area. We camped at Jordanelle State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Very nice and well maintained park. Sites are terraced above the lake. We were on the lakeside level. Only drawback was that restrooms were on the tier above and it was either a rather steep climb up the hillside or a longer walk around on the road. Separate unisex showers on the outside of the building. We would camp here again when in the area. Interior roads easy to navigate with large unit. We camped at Jordanelle State Park in a Motorhome.

We had a site overlooking the lake. Quiet and calm park with a lot to do. Designed well so you don't feel like you are in a big park with several little areas with sites within the park. Water pressure was very high, make sure you use a pressure regulator. Able to use the fire pits which are at each site which was nice even for a summer night. Site wasn't very level however. We camped at Jordanelle State Park in a Motorhome.

Jordanelle was worth a multi-night visit! Great kayaking even with the water down 40% from full capacity. Excellent water front sites (and these sites are fairly level). Navigating the park is easy for a big rig (38 ft 5th wheel). The park is near Heber City (full services including a Smiths grocery, a bowling alley, and a coffee shop called the Coffee Station). Jordanelle is also near Park City. We camped at Jordanelle State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Nice, but busy campground right at the lake.

Pros: View of the lake, spacious sites, clean, great showers, nice camp hosts, store and marina nearby.

Cons: Sites VERY unlevel (we broke our landing gear trying to get level)/ No one seemed to have a level site. We saw some people with 12" -14" of blocking under their jacks (I don't think that's too safe). Our dog got sprayed by a skunk and we saw a rattlesnake in the parking lot of the Red Cliff nature reserve - so there are critters. No shade so bring an easy-up. We camped at Jordanelle State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Very nice state park on the Jordanelle Lake. Roads and sites have been recently repaved. Pads are large and widely spaced. There are no trees. Each space has a large fire ring (most with wood) and picnic table. Park City, UT is directly across the highway from the park (as a matter of fact, the condos and timeshares of Park City are encroaching on the state park). Most spaces are water/electric only but there are a few full hookups which are reserved for workcampers.
The volunteer/workcampers are super nice and friendly and proud of their park.
CONS: the wifi never worked. The pads were extremely unlevel front to back. The site assigned to us was too steep to disconnect our 34' fifth wheel. The lady in the office was very helpful and gave us a list of available spaces to choose from (one out of the four was mostly level). This park is very busy on the weekends - reservations required - no way choose a level site on the online reservation system.
We would not stay on a busy weekend without help with site selection. We camped at Jordanelle State Park in a Fifth Wheel.
