Flaming Gorge National Recreation Area, Lucerne Campground The sites are big, elec only. No place to dump dish water, does not have a dish washing station available. You are absolutely forbidden to dispose of dish washing water anywhere except to the dump station for 6.00. you have to pay 6.00 with credit card at dump station. You can fill your fresh water tank at the dump station. we used paper everything, and plastic silverware. About 3 pm the wind starts and last for several hours, no shade and the wooden partial fence at the table never gave us any relief from the sun. It was brutal. An employee had her dogs running free several times, 1st camper by the office. If you have a boat you will love this place, but hiking is 25 miles away. Try to go to the dam, (42 miles from campground)had a great free tour and the gorge is beautiful from there. Pull off at turnouts, the views are amazing. Bathrooms are very clean, showers are unisex, 4 of them and very busy from 6-10 pm, they are locked at 10pm. Shower early. Arrival, if at all possible tow your vehicle in(behind rv), no charge, if you drive it in with rv, a charge a day for it. I would not come back, as there is nothing to do and the wind is too strong for eating out or cooking out. Pics: all canyon pics are by the dam, 40 miles away. We camped at Flaming Gorge National Recreation Area, Lucerne Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Flaming Gorge has some amazing sites and views. Parking the rig and tow vehicle was easier here than most places we've been. We have a 45' motorhome and a motorcycle lift on the back. We had room for the rig and were able to easily get the bike off for a beautiful ride. There was a separate parking space for our tow vehicle which is a GMC Canyon. And still a very nice patio area with picnic table, fire ring, and wind barrier. Great place!

We loved this campground. Spacious sites. Only electric at sites so rather primitive but the bathhouse was decent and there was a good dump station with water to fill up our trailer. We stayed for a week. Site had plenty of space for our trailer and truck. Our site had a paved picnic area with above ground fire pit, wind fencing and big picnic table. We were right next to the lake and had beautiful views. Minimal trees but site plenty big enough to use our awning when it wasn't windy. We camped at Flaming Gorge National Recreation Area, Lucerne Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Loops A, B, and C all have level asphalt pads with an adjacent area to park your tow vehicle or boat. They also come with a concrete sitting area that has a non-moveable picnic table, concrete fire pit, and a stand to hold a BBQ grill. Some sites have either shade or wind shelters. There is little to no shade. We received 28 OTA channels including the four major networks and good cell coverage and data speeds on both AT&T and Verizon. There is a marina with boat rentals, some fishing gear, RV gear, and basic food and beverages next to the campground. Our site had an unobstructed waterfront view. There is a dump station with two lanes near the campground entrance, but we didn't use it. The nightly rate of $28 does not include the $10 online reservation fee. When we come back to the area we will stay here again. We camped at Flaming Gorge National Recreation Area, Lucerne Campground in a Motorhome.

This park is about 8 miles east of Manila - a town with minimal services (gas/groceries/couple of restaurants), but hey, thats better than nothing! The campground is run by the NFS and offers spacious sites, all of which have a water view, and some are (nearly) waterfront. With the water levels so low (many reservoirs in Utah are down 40-70%!), its a longer walk than normal to get to the water. The water is great for kayaking (or other forms of boating). We camped at Flaming Gorge National Recreation Area, Lucerne Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Enjoy the kayaking - and swimmers beach/stateline cove offer additional places to kayak. There is also dispersed camping (12/night) on the beach along stateline cove. It looks however that leveling is an issue as the beach is sloped!

Nice open campground, Well maintained. The bathrooms were in the process of being renovated, so they weren't stellar, but getting better. Two concerns, no soap in the bathrooms and a separate charge for dumping over and above the camping fees. Neither of these was earth shattering, but annoyances. Hosts were friendly and helpful. Lots of Pronghorn on the peninsula. We stayed in a Motor Home and will be back again. We camped at Flaming Gorge National Recreation Area, Lucerne Campground in a Motorhome.

Views of the lake and mountains were gorgeous. The RV sites are spacious, paved and level. Each space has room for a camper, vehicle and boat. The pad/parking and picnic area for each site is paved. The fire rings and picnic table are cement. The only thing this campground lacks is shade trees. Access to lake could have been much better. Not much in the way of services at the actual campground, but we walked across a field to the marina where there was a store and boat rentals. They charge $6 to dump and the Credit Card Reader was broken. The pronghorn antelope roam freely around the camp. We would camp here again. Tips for other Campers:

We drove the Sheep Creek Scenic Byway, went to the Red Canyon Visitor's Center & Overlook and took the tour of the Flaming Gorge Dam. Put our kayak in at the dam. During our paddle we saw the Ospreys nesting and feeding their young on the islands near the dam. Wonderful place to visit.

Quiet and beautiful, directly on the lake. The RV sites are level and the campground well organized. We were one of 12 campers in this wonderful park at season end. The pronghorn antelope provided great entertainment. The sunset was amazing. We camped at Flaming Gorge National Recreation Area, Lucerne Campground in a Motorhome.

Nice open sites near the water. We stayed in loop B, electric sites. Level, paved site. Well groomed grounds. Didn't use the restrooms nor showers. Our only issue was the dump station was an extra $6. To add insult to injury, the Credit Card Reader was broken, so we had to get someone from the office to come and sell us tokens to dump. At least the fresh water was free. Great views of water. We camped at Flaming Gorge National Recreation Area, Lucerne Campground in a Motorhome.

We drove the Sheep Creek Scenic Byway twice it was so beautiful. Lot's of gorgeous rock formation and scenic drives including one by Green River/Rock Springs to see wild horses. And of course, tons of water sports on the Reservoir.

This is an excellent campground that has been updated recently. Each space has room for a camper, vehicle and boat. The pad/parking area and picnic area for each site is paved. The fire rings are cement and new, and so is the picnic table. The only thing this campground lacks is shade trees. There are several new trees planted in the campground, so the shade will be here in a few years. The views of the mountains and lake are wonderful. Antelope were in the campground the day we camped here. Our rate reflects our Senior Pass rate. We camped at Flaming Gorge National Recreation Area, Lucerne Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

We love this campground especially if you can get close to the water for amazing views. They don't have water hookups but the camp hosts unlocked the faucet to allow us to fill a small pool for the kids and fill our tank. The showers were clean if you used them right after the camp hosts came through but they really needed either a garbage in the shower area or another cleaning. People are so disrespectful and left their trash in the showers. Only downside was lack of camp hosts. There were quite a few but they were all set up quite away from the campers. Camp hosts never checked in on us and we were there for 9 days. Campsite really needs speed bumps put out to keep people from racing through the campground. Mixed feelings about this place. On the positive: we enjoyed having access to the lake for our dog (National Forest folks are very dog friendly) and lots of area to walk. Pretty sunrises and sunsets and a very nice drive north to reach this campground from Colorado. On the negative: no water at sites, no apparent enforcement of quiet hours (boat people seem to be party people), and since we were there Monday and Tuesday, no restaurant (it's open Wed-Sat) and no clear boat rental services that we could find. We would check out other area campgrounds first before staying at this one. We camped at Flaming Gorge National Recreation Area, Lucerne Campground in a Motorhome.

Nice park. Level paved sites. Three things to note- the faucets around the campground are NOT threaded. Why?? I do not know. You must fill your tanks up at the dump station prior to parking. Secondly, they did not take credit cards at the office. Thirdly, all legs on your RV must have wooden/plastic pads under them. It is quite a drive to the dam and other sight seeing, but we would still come back here again. We camped at Flaming Gorge National Recreation Area, Lucerne Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Nice campground near lake. Roads are paved, sites are level, have cement pad with table. Some with cover for shade, others with wind breaks. Electric only, park has dump station. Water faucets around park, could move rig to fill tank. Cell (AT&T) was good. We would camp here. We camped at Flaming Gorge National Recreation Area, Lucerne Campground in a Motorhome.

Now, this is a very nice campground. Several loops have been remodeled and are open. They all have electric, are paved and have a concrete patio area with a new picnic table. The sites are large, very nicely done and should be a model for the Federal agencies to use when modernizing one of their campgrounds. Of course, that happens so rarely, you probably have a better chance of being hit by a comet. We camped at Flaming Gorge National Recreation Area, Lucerne Campground in a Motorhome.
