This is a nice campground. Sites are not spacious by any means, or private, and Jeeps and ATVs abound, but it seemed to be one of the nicest campgrounds in the area. The facilities, restrooms, laundry and pool areas all seemed to be top-notch. It is a nice park, but yes a little pricey. If we were to ever go back to the Moab area we would definitely stay again. We camped at Portal RV Resort and Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Overall Rating:

We stayed for 2 nights passing thru 2 years ago and vowed we would not stay again due to price and tightness. However, there was some group in town and this was the only option a month in advance. We got the SAME exact site in the "deluxe" sites, which is anything but. Our site had 2 small trees placed strategically that you either had to pull thru the site in front of you or back out to get out of the site. The trees provided NO shade for the site either. The site is short and so close to the next door neighbors that you can barely have room for the concrete pad which holds the picnic table. The site is short and short room for a vehicle in this site due to rocks and clumps of "decorative grass" in the rear. However, our neighbors in a 5th wheel had a large truck, 2 4x4's, and a trailer parked in theirs by angling the 5th wheel almost to touching ours. LOTS of 4x4's as there was a group, but for the tight space a very considerate group! Very tiny & few shower stalls without restrooms in the same area. Probably not much need as only the higher end, self contained units can afford to stay here anyway. We arrived an hour earlier than the 1 PM check in and was was told it would be $10 to ck in early. We parked out front and went to lunch. I saw no real landscaping, there was some construction going on with a noisy back up heavy equipment tractor some mornings. For all that expensive time between check in and check out, you would think they would pick up the debris at the sites, but there were bread wrapper closures and some other plastic pieces (not a deal breaker unless you already feel you are being gouged). For 4 nights, a big sign out front had "sites available tonight" but when we had requested an extra night, we were told they were just "slammed" and had nothing available. We did find a night south of town at the OK RV park for $41 with much more spacious sites and no early fee. Just a "glad you are here so we can get everyone in today"!! We camped at Portal RV Resort and Campground in a Motorhome.

Very nice resort. So happy to find a site at this campground in Moab at the height of season. Lots of activity inside the park - maintenance always raking vacated sites and blowing debris off patios - all day long. Because of the interior traffic, try to avoid a corner site... This was our second trip to Moab & we stayed on the resort side for a week. Site was generous, level, concrete, and had a nice patio with patio furniture. Staff was great at check in & always helpful throughout our stay. If at Portal in summer our site (52) would be nice also. Site 51 has a very tall garage that would offer some nice shade from the sun on the drivers side of coach. Temps were a bit cool to use either the pool or hot tub but both were very appealing. Loved the resort as well as the great location. Close drive to Arches, Canyonland, and Dead horse. Our last visit we stayed at Spanish Trail & had a great stay there also. We chose Portal this time anticipating spring rain so we were glad to have the concrete pad. Great stay & we would return. We camped at Portal RV Resort and Campground in a Motorhome.

Very nice commercial RV park if a bit pricey. It's back from the highway, so little road noise. Sites are roomy. It's divided into two parts, the resort side and the campground side, where we stayed. Most of the people camped here were in big motor homes and fifth wheels. It's very convenient to get to both Arches and Canyonlands National Parks. Bathrooms and showers were clean. Oddly they are separate, which is kind of inconvenient. We camped at Portal RV Resort and Campground in a Truck Camper.

The sites in the resort side are very nice, level concrete, wide, with a covered patio, but you pay for what you get. If they are worth the price depends on what you plan to do while there, i. e. if planning to see the sights, parks, and hike during the day, why pay the premium when you're not there. If you plan to use the pool and hot tub and sit out on the patio, maybe they are worth the price. The sites in the other part of the park are very close. Cable TV is very good with open look to the sky for satellite. Utilities worked well and are appropriately sited. We would probably stay elsewhere next time to save a little. We camped at Portal RV Resort and Campground in a Motorhome.

We stayed here only one night and didn't use amenities like the pool, so our review may not be complete. But sites were clean, well maintained, with patio and picnic table. Most of the rigs here were larger Class As. It seemed to offer larger, nicer spaces than other campgrounds in Moab. We camped at Portal RV Resort and Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Slow down when entering the driveway. With several driveways nearby, its hard to tell which is for the campground, and the entry roadway is a little rough.

This is a resort primarily full of high end huge motorhomes. Half of the park has concrete driveways, huge sites, and a private pool; it's similar to the price of a cheap hotel. The other half costs less (still more than we have paid for any other RV site in well over 40 states) and has gravel sites, close together. Well maintained with wide asphalt roads, especially nice for large rvs. Nice outer areas for walking dogs on leash, plus 2 dog parks). We camped at Portal RV Resort and Campground in a Travel Trailer.

I stayed in the Resort section which is kept immaculate. The sites are very large concrete pads including the patio and generous parking area for Toad or Tow vehicles. The non-pull-through sites are pull-in head first. There is a separate pool and hot tub for the resort area, which was good because the main pool was closed for repair/construction. It is only a few miles south of Arches NP and a couple miles north of downtown Moab, so it is perfectly located. We camped at Portal RV Resort and Campground in a Motorhome.

We stayed in the premium side of the park which consists of sites that are privately owned and rented out when not in use. Our site was very spacious with a parking spot and a covered patio, though not all of the spots have shaded patios. The landscaping was very nice and the park was quiet. The pool was only available for the premium sites which is why we stayed on that side. It was very nice and not very busy. We had it to ourselves every time we went. It's a great way to cool off in the Moab heat. The pool for the other side is almost done and will be opening soon. There was an off-leash dog park on each side. We had 4 bars of 4G with ATT, but didn't use it as the park WiFi was very good. The only ding I would give is that the cable is pretty fuzzy. We really enjoyed our stay here and would definitely come again. We camped at Portal RV Resort and Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

There's a great paved bike trail that you can access right across the highway from the park. One branch runs along the Colorado River for a couple of miles and the other branch goes along the highway past the entrance to Arches National Park. The park doesn't want you to use the WiFi for downloading, which is to be expected, so if you need to download, head into town to the library. They have the fastest public WiFi we've encountered in our many stops.

Nice place to stay. The park was in two sections and we stayed on the resort side. Paved streets and pads were nice! Pool was refreshing as well as the hot tub. Bath houses were very nice! WiFi was great as we both work from home and on the road using our laptops! And close to town. Would stay here again. We camped at Portal RV Resort and Campground in a Motorhome.

Streets are wide and very accessible, we stayed on the resort side of the park. The other side had gravel sites where we had full concrete pads as well as the parking area. Covered patio which was a nice feature given the heat in Moab. If I ding this resort it was the pool, it was in real need of cleaning, not much shade at all and just not appealing to use. This park was truly a resort. It campground roads were asphalt and the common areas were well manicured. The swimming pool was beautiful and used a salt filter system with adequate space for a family to have enough room. Our site was a pull forward, with space in the rear for our tow vehicle. The site was beautifully landscaped and well manicured including a Koi pond. We enjoyed sitting under the covered patio with comfortable table and chairs. I used the laundry facility that was clean with new washers and dryers. The resort was conveniently located to Arches National Park and the town of Moab, Utah. We stayed here when we visited Arches and Canyonlands. The campground is back off of 191 and quiet, no road noise. It has 2 sections that flow into each other. A regular section and a Premium section where they say the sites are privately owned and rented out. We stayed in the Premium section which we felt the prices were too high. Yes, we did have a concrete pad. All the sites were spacious for both areas. The Premium section had it's own pool which we didn't use, looked clean. The restrooms and showers were very clean for both sections. The regular section has a pool in the process of being built. Their web site said it would be finished this spring, it's not finished. There are 2 swimming holes, one for pets and one for people. Both have a very unattractive farm wire fence. Not appealing at all. In the Premium section, the initial part started out great looking , this is what you see on their web site, but as you went further out into it the Premium sites the vegetation was less and the drip system was barely working. Also behind the Premium sites is a gravel area for a trailer storage lot, very unattractive. There's also a marshy area behind the property - very buggy and too dangerous if your kids wander. There are 2 dog parks and the solar lighting in the smaller one is very dim and the no lighting for the larger one. People also don't clean up after their dogs. The park has lots of rules, they don't enforce. Would we stay here again, maybe. We camped at Portal RV Resort and Campground in a Fifth Wheel.
