We where surprised to reach such an little, nice BLM campground. All roads to go to and inside the campground are paved and were easily driveable by our 40' mh. We found an nearly empty campground at the end of June!! Nice views by surrounding rocks. And great possibilities by going offroad in the nearby areas.
CONGRATULATIONS TO BLM! You founded an great campground! We camped at Canyon Rims Recreation Area, Windwhistle Campground in a Motorhome.

We are very fortunate to be the campground hosts here for 2 months. This campground is BEAUTIFUL!!! Surrounded on 3 sides by huge red rock hills. We are 45 minutes south of Moab and 1 hour north of Needles District of Canyonlands. It is very quiet here. This is a dry campground, (16 sites, no reservations) so there are no lights to distract from the night sky. Generators are allowed 8am-8pm, but very few are ever used. Up the road is The Needles Overlook, The Anticline Overlook, and Hatch Point Campground (9 miles gravel road, is very quiet and hardly ever used). Hiking, mountain biking, driving jeep roads are just some activities here. I almost hate to post about this wonderful little campground, for fear of it becoming too populated. We camped at Canyon Rims Recreation Area, Windwhistle Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Overall Rating:

BLM Campground. No electrical, but can run generator 8am to 8 pm. Remote location. Very quiet and clear skies at night. Great for stargazing. Short trees and scrub brush for minimal shade. Pad was even and with a very slight tilt. Cattle grates on the road in; no raccoons or bears. We stayed here the first week in June, warm but not hot. Likely much hotter at the height of summer. We camped at Canyon Rims Recreation Area, Windwhistle Campground in a Motorhome.

Date of Stay: July, 2016 - $15.00
Overall Rating:

This is a BLM campground with an iron ranger to accept registration fees. It is quiet and little used, we stayed here 3 nights. The first night July 2nd we were alone. The location is beautiful and breezy. The toilets (3) are pit type with a drinking water spigot & fountain outside the main one. This a great place to decompress. We would stay here again. We camped at Canyon Rims Recreation Area, Windwhistle Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Date of Stay: April, 2014 - $8.00
Overall Rating:

This low rating applies to big rigs. This campground is just not suitable for our 40 foot RV. While our site was long enough, we were never able to level even with leveling boards. We could not extend our slides to the full extent due to close trees and bushes. This is a BLM campground, without hookups, in a truly gorgeous setting in the plateau overlooking the Southern area of Canyonlands National Park. If you are camping in a travel trailer or Class C motor home the rating would be much higher, and consistent with a nice BLM campground w/o hookups. But if you are in a big rig -- better to go north to Ken's Lake or south to Devils Canyon campground. We camped at Canyon Rims Recreation Area, Windwhistle Campground in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

One of our favorite BLM campgrounds. It is 8 miles off the main highway out in the vast Canyonlands park area. Pit toilets were very clean and the available water spigot put out good clean water. It's DARK at night so if the clouds are away the Milky Way is very visible. We paid senior rate. We camped at Canyon Rims Recreation Area, Windwhistle Campground in a Motorhome.

Beautiful setting at the base of a butte with a nature trail off group site. Would have stayed longer, but no water until the following week. On the road to Needles Overlook--very quiet. We camped at Canyon Rims Recreation Area, Windwhistle Campground in a Travel Trailer.
