Nice campground, very scenic, and the only FHU camp in this area. We got off to a bit of a rocky start. This is where employees can make or break a park. My Good Sam Card, although I had renewed, I did not have the new card (left on trip before it arrived). But membership my number was still valid. Office would not run the number to verify, They wanted the current actual card. Was able to use AAA card. The site assigned, could not level coach, even with 3" blocks. The employee working gave us a choice of 3 sites. Went back to report which site we had chosen and another lady chastised us for moving without permission. It did work out fine, but I felt they could they have handled the problem a bit better. As for the campground. it is beautiful. Great scenery. FHU in correct position. Electric a bit low at 119v. Good water pressure. I would check the site if you are concerned about branches hitting your coach. Cell phones (Verizon, T-Mobile) would not work on data without putting on Data Roaming. (There may be additional cell charges for roaming, check with your carrier) Camp wifi worked reasonably well, slow at peak times. There is a gas station good for gassers on the road to the camp. Watch the speed bumps on the way in. Grocery, restaurant on site but not within walking distance. Sat. worked fine on our site (27). Many tours and things to do in the area. Be careful about the time. There is time zone confusion here. Your cell may or may not update to the correct time Mountain Valley is on Mountain Daylight time, which is different than Arizona. No dog park. There is a dog walk across a road, but is red dirt. Camp roads are paved, sites are red dirt/gravel. You may want to have a small outdoor rug/mat. In the morning the is a great view across the desert and the sun illuminates the rocks, great picture. We were here in a 36' Motorhome. We camped at Goulding's Lodge & Campground in a Motorhome.

This is one of the nicest parks we've stayed in since going full-time 3 years ago. Paved roads, a bit narrow if you have a big rig, but not too difficult. Everything is clean and tidy with gravel sites that were level. Some spaces have a better view than others so ask about your site. There are hiking trails from the park and it's very close to the village where there's a restaurant, museum, stores, etc. There are shuttles but they aren't always on schedule. They also offer tours of Monument Valley which are excellent - we learned so much from our guide, Joe, and avoided driving our truck on the rough roads. We would definitely stay again. Check out the photo from the door of our trailer as the sun came up! We camped at Goulding's Lodge & Campground in a Travel Trailer.

As detailed by other reviewers, this is a fantastic park, located in between massive red rock and overlooking some of the famous sites of Monument Valley. The sites are fairly spacious, the hook-ups work well and the Wifi is slow but at least it is consistent and the signal was good. The park is very popular and the attendant told me that she only had 3 spaces left, which we did not expect on a Monday in April. The only downside is the price, which at $62 is a bit steep, even for a wonderful park as this one. That said, we would absolutely visit again and recommend this park without reservations. We camped at Goulding's Lodge & Campground in a Motorhome.

Number 1 reason to stay here is the view. It is spectacular from almost all sites. Although the higher up, the better the view. Pull through had plenty of space for rv and tow vehicle. Indoor pool, nice laundry, clean bathrooms and shuttle to lodge and restaurant. Restaurant is reasonably priced and food is good and it has a great view. No dog park, but lots of trials and we played ball in the fenced in tent area. Would definitely stay here again. We camped at Goulding's Lodge & Campground in a Motorhome.

Wonderful views. The only campground with hookups in area. Thought rate was high so didn't stay as long as planned. Some of interior roads were tight. But freshly paved, although sites were gravel. Everything was nearby, grocery, fuel station, restaurant, gift shops, etc. Maybe if they had competition rates would not be as high. We camped at Goulding's Lodge & Campground in a Motorhome.

We stayed at the campground two nights. Despite freezing temperatures, the stay was enjoyable. Helpful friendly staff, nice campsites. I found it odd that they sell firewood at the campground store but there's no fire rings. Beautiful scenery. We camped at Goulding's Lodge & Campground in a Motorhome.

Take one of the tours of Monument Valley that Goulding's has to offer. A lot of interesting things to see including petroglyphs, Navajo hogans and all kinds of rock formations. They have movie programs that include John Wayne movies filmed in Monument Valley.

Monument valley was great, we also did a self guided tour of Valley of the Gods located about 20 miles north just after the "Mexican Hat" We actually enjoyed it more than monument valley.

Despite being a tad overpriced, Gouldings RV park is on my list to stay if I return to that area. The staff is friendly, the park is very clean, and the RV spaces are easy in and out. Very clean, trash containers close to the sites. Utilities functioning, though water pressure was a bit low. The facilities (bath, laundry, pool) are not centrally located, though, so if you're parked on the far edge, it's a trek. On the whole, it is very clean. The resort shows John Wayne movies for free in it's tiny theatre - each night rotating through a few movies that were filmed there - Stagecoach (BW) being the most popular as it was John Wayne's breakout role and showcased Monument Valley, initiating the public to its wonders.

The grocery store is not really walking distance because the RV park section of the resort is up a steep hill from it. The on-site laundry facilities are clean but overpriced. The laundry facilities near the store were even more expensive. We camped at Goulding's Lodge & Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

I would not take a Gouldings' tour again. We opted for the 2.5 hr afternoon tour and were disappointed. The guide was not friendly when we started, though he did loosen up a bit later on. The first part of the tour consisted of visiting "Lucy", a Navajo woman in a hogan carding, spinning, and weaving a blanket. Though it was interesting, the overall impression was that he was trolling for donations for her. During the tour, he took us on one "guide-only" road and missed quite a large part of the 17-mile loop. We had done the loop ourselves in the morning and wanted to revisit it in the afternoon for the different light, and missing that part meant that we missed good light on some of the features we were looking forward to seeing. If you can, check out the guides inside the park before committing yourself to a commercial tour.

Can't beat the view, setting and location. With that said, it's not a great RV park. Red dirt, dusty, muddy, narrow roads, lots of tent campers to clog up the restrooms, no pet area. Staff was not very helpful. Failed to give us card key for restrooms at check in. Not professional. Wicked speed bumps on the road leading to RV park. Utilities worked fine. Cable was good. WiFi was barely adequate. Sites are narrow, most not long enough for tow without parking sideways. Shade trees. Grocery, gas and car wash just down the road, part of the Goulding's other businesses. We camped at Goulding's Lodge & Campground in a Motorhome.

Fun drive up the Moki Dugway to Natural Bridges National Monument. Worth the trip. Valley of the Gods very nice as well. Not much to Goosenecks State Park. $5.00 for a nice view of the San Juan River.

For visiting Monument Valley, it's the best option. We were there for two nights. Although we got off to a poor start, we ended up being pleased over all. When we first arrived, we were put in space B2. This is one of four back-in sites just outside and separate from the main area. We were not happy campers and did not feel comfortable there at all. Particularly since we made reservations a few months in advance. It was particularly galling because the guy who arrived right in front of me was a drive-in who was assigned to the "last" pull through site. The next day we asked to be moved inside and were accommodated right away. During all this, the staff was very nice. Once inside, the sites were spacious enough and level. It was enjoyable for our last day and night. We would certainly return again but I would be a bit more specific about placement. We camped at Goulding's Lodge & Campground in a Travel Trailer.

The reason to stay here is the visit to Monument Valley. Your pass will be good for two days. Be sure to take the guided tour. You will be taken to back country sites were unguided people can not go. Our eight person tour was great. We used "Safari tours" and I highly recommend them. Our guide was Toney, who gave great insight into both the Anasazi and the current Dene people.

It is old and it is tight. We were here for a rally and getting 20, 45ft MH's in was tight. Most of us had to put our cars in strange angles to be able to leave the roads clear. No complaints with the view from the front of the park, or its closeness to Monument Valley. Just a case of coaches getting larger and no room to expand. My site was level. We were on a rally so no idea of cost. We camped at Goulding's Lodge & Campground in a Motorhome.

Stopped here not realizing how busy campgrounds are in the southwest in September. VERY helpful staff offered us to try a spot a previous camper had not liked and left. Said if my husband could fit the 5th wheel in we could stay - he did! Big park full of Grand Circle caravan big rigs but plenty of room. Good restrooms, too. Great place to base to see Monument Valley and Arches Nat'l Park. We camped at Goulding's Lodge & Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Found this location to be better than expected. Staff helpful and friendly. Great views of mountains on three sides. For where it is located, this was a good choice. The staff were nice, they worked hard to keep the campground tidy. The utilities and wifi were better than average in this area. That being said, this isn't a place where I'd stay for more than a few days. There is no play area for kids, and there is no area to exercise pets. They ask you to walk your pets in "undeveloped" areas, but they are choked with puncture vine. Most others must have the same opinion. We've been here for two days, and the CG pretty much empties out every morning, and is full by nighttime. They do have very nice tent camping areas. Nice sunrise view of Monument Valley too. Tips for other Campers:

The Monument Valley bus/jeep tours are very dusty. Bring old clothing to wear if you intend to do that. Lots of people had dust masks. You can also do a self-guided tour in your own car, which we did. Anything with a decent clearance (we have a Subaru) will be fine. The Navajo Nation Visitor Center has all the tour info.

Shop for groceries in Page or some other city, there are no places to buy food in the area other than Gouldings, which is limited.

As others have noted, this is almost the only game in the area. Wifi was usable for the basics. Cell service was surprisingly excellent. No broadcast TV or radio available. Main CG has tighter spacing. It is augmented by additional spaces in parking areas and vacant lots, which we were in - making WalMart seem better! Water pressure a bit low. Nothing terrible, just pretty high priced. But, considering how remote you are from anywhere else, it is to be expected! We camped at Goulding's Lodge & Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

There are many, many tour companies offering tours of Monument Valley. Goulding's tours are convenient, but usually very crowded. We opted to go with a local Navajo owned company instead that meets inside the park. Note that admittance to the Monument is for two days per vehicle ($20 at this writing), and is run by the Navajo's, not the State for Federal government, so there are no discounts.
