Overall Rating:

We overnighted here with no reservation on a weeknight in July. The campground has a mix of pull through and back-in sites with water and electric. The lake was closed to swimming due to bacterial overgrowth at that time. I believe it has something to do with too many carp in the lake, and it being very shallow. Utah Lake is a remnant of the ancient Lake Bonneville, and so is saline. The salt marsh next to the lake smells marshy, which is noticeable from the campground, but not too strong. We saw quail and killdeers around the perimeter of the campground. It was nice walking out on one of the breakwaters until a strong wind blew up. There was a lot of trash along the public roads, although not in the campground area itself. We would be happy to stay here again. We camped at Utah Lake State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Overall Rating:

An easy 3 miles from the interstate. Lots of open area between spaces. The inside spaces on the loop are back-ins, the outside spaces are pull-thrus parallel to the road. Each space has a fire ring, a grill, picnic and a permanent shelter. See pictures. Reliable 30 amp Pwr and water. Dump station on the way out. Very scenic place to sit and contemplate, or read. Snow capped mountains in two directions and a large marsh in one. We camped at Utah Lake State Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Fuel prices in Utah are the lowest I have seen this year, diesel $3.25 +/-. Costco in Sandy, UT, next to Provo, was $2.69. Sandy is the only Costco for miles in any direction that offers diesel, and they have it at all pumps. My rig, +motorcycle lift+ towed is 63 feet, and getting in and out of Costco was a breeze. I suggest using Google Earth to view the facility.

Camp host friendly and helpful. Large, quiet grassy sites with mini pavilion picnic table. Near the lake not on the lake. Good roads getting into the campground. We camped at Utah Lake State Park in a Motorhome.

Do NOT stay in this park if you have pets or children! The “grass” is full of goat head stickers. They are everywhere. My dog has to have surgery to get sticker out of paw. The place is dirty and dilapidated. We camped at Utah Lake State Park in a Motorhome.

We were a walk up and there were plenty of spaces. They also have an honor system when gate not manned so have cash on hand. Clean & well maintained except for the entrance which seems forgotten. Nice walk to marina and access to beautiful Lake Utah. We camped at Utah Lake State Park in a Motorhome.

This used to be our favorite area park. Not anymore. It's poorly managed and poorly maintained. Trash in fire ring. Numerous vehicles parked anywhere, including sites occupied by others. Camp host never seen. Ranger vehicle drove through once in 2 days - at twice the posted speed limit, and ignored several obvious rules infractions. We camped at Utah Lake State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

This Utah State Park offers 30 amp electric and water at the sites. There are both pull-through and back-in sites. The pull-through sites are tight for larger rigs, but usable. Dump station could be used on the way in or out. The booth attendant wasn't much help, telling us to drive around till we found a site, and then come back (without dropping the trailer) to confirm our selection. Why she couldn't tell us what sites were open is a mystery. The camp hosts got us into a site and gave us a ride back to the booth the register. Crazy number of midges flying about. Fair amount of trash in the boat ramp and fishing pier areas. We camped at Utah Lake State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Wide spaces, easy to drive around with big rig, scenery was spectacular. We didn't have a reservation and were told to go pick a spot and come back and pay. As stated by other reviewers, the midge flies were in abundance. They didn't bite us but were just all around. We were happy to have satellite and verizon cellular, since our previous CGs didn't. We also were happy to be so close to Provo and Orem where we had lots to do. We were able to find a grassy area (without foxtail) to walk our dog. We camped at Utah Lake State Park in a Motorhome.

The park is nicely located on a large, fresh water lake, conveniently located near town. If you love water sports, this is a great place. It is surrounded by wetlands, however, so don't be surprised by the large number of bugs. The power grid is sketchy (we tried two sites before finding one with working breakers). Considering they only offer 30 amps, and no sewer hookups, we felt the $36 daily rate (paid on-line) was not a good value. We camped at Utah Lake State Park in a Motorhome.

Loved our 2 night stay here even though it was cold and windy. Would have stayed longer but for other places to be. Beautiful views all around. Nicely kept grounds. Bike/walking trails easy to find. Provo not far away. Washroom/shower building could have been cleaner but not awful. Good TV reception on antenna. AT&T cell available. Felt very spacious but not nearly full during our stay. Would love to come back for longer. We camped at Utah Lake State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

This was pretty typical State Park type of sites with water & electric hook-ups. There was a patio and cover at our site, but the mosquitoes made it impossible to use. Just getting from the truck to the trailer one evening, my husband had so many bites that his eye was swollen shut for several days. I expect this is probably a seasonal problem. That said, the site overall was good. We camped at Utah Lake State Park in a Travel Trailer.

W/E only, 30A at that. For being a park on a lake, it is not a well landscaped park. The green stuff growing at the site loops (can't call it grass and BEWARE! those of you with long eared K-9's, it is mostly fox tailed weeds). It is average at best for an RV park. The site was level asphalt pull thru, had a covered patio & picnic table, with a fire ring. It is on the lake, complete with boat ramps, marina, & a store that rents boats and other water toys. And it is also at downtown Provo. We were here in June, snow covered mountains & 85 degrees, and the Midge flies were in full force. We camped at Utah Lake State Park in a Motorhome.

Gem of a state park. A little old fashioned as the pull-thru spaces are shorter than really needed for larger rigs. Once situated, everything worked well. Exceptional view of lake and surrounding mountains. Bath houses and showers are clean and spacious. Not a big fan of push button water flow as no H/C control, but good temperature and volume. Tips for other Campers:

Campers be careful. They lock gates at 10PM and do not issue opening code. We came back a half hour after closing and was lucky that a vendor was coming out or we would have been locked out until next morning. Security or not, this is just stupid.
