Overall Rating:

Good location for downtown SLC events/activities. Light rail (UTA) is very convenient. The airport is also close. Camp store has a good selection of items and office staff is helpful. It is noisy because it is in the city: airplanes, cars, motorcycles, sirens, train whistle noise. Additional noise because it is next to the fairgrounds. Quite dirty: there was a dead bird several days old at our site and the extra cost patio was not swept or blown out in some time. I spent time the first afternoon cleaning the site. Sites are close together and the park is busy. The Wifi gets very sluggish/unuseable during peak hours. AT&T cell reception is poor. Sites aren't long enough for big rigs with trailers so they stick out into the street creating navigation issues. The cable TV was very fuzzy on many channels but OTA reception is good. Overall, I consider it convenient but overpriced and not well maintained. We camped at Salt Lake City KOA in a Motorhome.

Urban park with asphalt roads and sites. Services well placed and working as designed. Sites narrow and short. Parked my toad crossways to fit on site. Park totally tree covered and depending on the season your RV will be covered with tree sap, leaves and twigs. Make sure to sweep off your slides. Satellite will not work. Sketchy neighborhood. Don't walk outside park. We camped at Salt Lake City KOA in a Motorhome.

We stayed here in order to be close to the FH Library, and other downtown places. The residents of the KOA itself were very quiet so the noise came from the city itself but w/ curtains & windows closed it was fine. WiFi was available and as is common, waxed & waned in speed. We were stunned at the per night price. We will try to find less expensive parking the next time we're in SLC. This was our only complaint as the staff and CG were fine. It was easy to get into and out of. We camped at Salt Lake City KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

FH Library is 2 miles close; Tracy Aviary in Liberty Park is only a few miles away and a fantastic place; the TRAX runs down the middle of the road with a station stop almost in front of the CG.

Overall very nice. My site was long enough for 40' MH and room for Ford Explorer end-to-end. My only complaint was the KOA sign. It is short and hidden behind trees on North Temple. I drove right by it. We camped at Salt Lake City KOA in a Motorhome.

Large KOA, near city center, good road access. Staff friendly. Not a great part of town. Make sure you use a GPS to navigate as the I-15 does not have any signage for the campground. Expensive for what you get. We camped at Salt Lake City KOA in a Motorhome.

For an urban campground, this one is actually quite good. It's very large and quite busy, and yes, there are traffic, siren, and train noises, but you're in a city. We really like the shady pull-thru sites, and there are quite a few of them to choose from. There are actually two restrooms for the campground, which aren't packed, as so many are there in self-contained rigs. The restroom by the office & pool, though, tends to have wet floors (understandably) and is more heavily used than the satellite restroom. For us, it makes a good base camp from which to visit friends & family in the Salt Lake-Provo area. We have been here frequently & will continue to visit in the future - however, the price is getting a bit steep. (Not as much as the hotels in the area, though!) We camped at Salt Lake City KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Have camped here for over 15 years and was startled with the current rate of almost $85 per night! When I asked why the rates are now so high I was told that they're now a "resort." This is an old park that hasn't been upgraded for years. Our asphalt site wasn't level which allowed sprinkler water to accumulate in large puddles. There is only one restroom facility for the over 170 camping sites (three toilets & three showers in the men's and women's sections). The wall tile around the water controls was broken or missing, the hot/cold water was connected backward (red=cold, blue=hot) but it's been that way forever, and the water in the women's showers drained very slowly. There's a small swimming pool and very small hot tub. Large RVs have difficulty parking/exiting many of the sites. We camped at Salt Lake City KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

We travel with 3 large dogs and requested a site with grass side available. We originally were assigned a tighter spot and I told the desk person we'd pay more for a little more space. For the same price, we were assigned a better spot in the 1200 row. Although busy campground, it was quiet. Bathrooms were very clean. At night there was campfire smell but with A/C on, it wasn't in the RV. Be prepared to significantly clean the picnic table. The only reason I didn't give campground a 10 is that there isn't much room for the dogs. The play area is small and busy. Walking dogs on narrow park roadways, cautiously, there is no area to let them relieve themselves. There is a trail outside the campground along a waterway but the vegetation is quite scrubby for dogs to step off trail. It is designated off-leash, but very narrow and elevated some which we didn't feel was helpful. We had about 6'x30' grass/dirt picinic area alongside camper. Liberty Park is about 15 minute drive and a great place to take dogs to walk if you have ability to transport there. We camped at Salt Lake City KOA in a Motorhome.

We were here for one week so I got to see a lot of the camp and how they work. This is a very large park in the heart of the city of Salt Lake. They have over 206 pull in sites plus a back in, cabins, tent sites and monthly seasonal sites. Check in is efficient with at least two or more attendants ready. Roads are all paved as are the sites which are mostly level except where some wear and tear has produced tire depressions. All the sites are flanked by grass which staff water as they can, never while you are parked there. Since temps get to 99 or three digits this can be a challenge. Most sites have mature trees which provide shade from the hot afternoon sun. They have all the amenities you need for children, a large clean pool and hot tub, two play grounds, media room, and basketball court. There is a small bark park for dogs, otherwise you need to walk your dogs carefully around other campers. Two separate restrooms and showers kept as clean as you can with the enormous use. Laundry was clean and had a hugh bank of washers and dryers. We never felt this was in a less savory part of town. There are closed business next door but roads were well traveled with viable businesses nearby and beautiful clean parks only blocks from the camp. The trolley across the street makes travel into the main part of the city very convenient. We spent $50.00 a night with the KOA member discount plus some points we have accrued. This is city camping and not really my style but this well run park is a good choice for the sights and things Salt Lake City have to offer. We camped at Salt Lake City KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

We were here for a convention and the trolley service is excellent for trips into town. While here be sure to visit Promontory Point, now a National Park and well run. Antelope Island is also just withing reach and you can see free ranging Bison or swim in the salt lake.

From my notes about this park: Large park, shady sites. Good WiFi, measured at 5 Mbps. Cable TV as well as over the air. Had to use two leveling blocks under the tires. Truck and trailer barely fit. Sites are somewhat close together. There are a coin-op laundry and power wash car wash conveniently located adjacent to the park. OK to return here although it's somewhat pricey. We camped at Salt Lake City KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Traffic on SLC freeways is heavy and moves at high speeds. Major construction makes driving here nerve-racking. Plan your moves well in advance.

We stayed for a week. Rate includes 10% discount using KOA Value Kard. Taxes were $60.10 which was equal to a whole nights stay. So the daily rate combined with discounts and taxes was over $72 per night. We liked our site because of the shade (it was hot in SLC) and this area in the park had a place to park the car beside the motorhome. Only thing we did not like was we were next to a "fire experience" site and didn't like the smoke at night as we had to close all of our windows. Not sure why KOA in a downtown area thinks it needs people to be able to light fires. We camped at Salt Lake City KOA in a Motorhome.
