I stayed here for 4 nights in early July 2019, and found the setting to be safe and well-maintained. My few complaints are that the staff in the store could have been friendlier, and that I wish there was more shade (already quite hot this time of year). Other than that, the park was quiet and well managed and suited my purpose perfectly. We camped at Thousand Lakes RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Overall Rating:

Despite the name, there are no lakes nearby. Small park with sites pretty close together. Although we asked for and were assured we would have 50 amp power, it was not available in all sites. Since it was cool weather, did not need AC so 30 amp worked but would be a disaster in hot weather. We camped at Thousand Lakes RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Capital Reef NP nearby. Not much in Torrey other than a restaurant and a small laundromat/general store.

Overall Rating:

This is a really nice campground with lots of long, level, pull-thrus and back-in sites. The sites are gravel over dirt with some grass in between, and some shade. Spacing between sites allows you to enjoy some quiet time outside your rig, without feeling like you are sitting under your neighbors rig. They also have a large, open, grassy area for enjoying some lawn games or sitting under the trees people watching. Behind the office there is also a wonderful BBQ where you can purchase a good, smoked, meal prepared by a professional chef. We enjoyed the other amenities offered in this campground while here. The office has a lot of Native American items for sale, as well as the normal tourist items, and some camping items one may need while here. They have a heated pool onsite where everyone can enjoy a good soak. The staff here is extremely helpful, and check-in was quick and easy. This is one of the cleanest, well cared for parks we have stayed in, and we will not hesitate to return when in the area again. We camped at Thousand Lakes RV Park in a Motorhome.

If you are here, you came to spend time in Capital Reef. Don't hesitate to drive the Utah 12 highway from Torrey down towards Bryce Canyon. It's a nice scenic day drive.

Rate is weekly. We were here a few years ago and liked it. We liked it more this time as it seems even bigger and cleaner. VERY friendly staff who listens to your needs and delivers. Gravel site, some shaded. Some very wide and long sites (new since last visit). We camped at Thousand Lakes RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Nice park with BBQ restaurant and gift shop. Wi-Fi is TERRIBLE! Was only available at 3-4 AM so it was non-existent for us. Would not stay there again due to lack of Wi-Fi (even though they advertise they have WiFi). We camped at Thousand Lakes RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

WIFI is horrible and cell service is scant, so really needed a good WIFI. I agree with previous reviewers that bathrooms and laundry need to be updated. The beef I have is that the back row of back ins are not angled properly and it is difficult to get into without help (you are backing in on your blind side.) Easy to fix. I didn't feel welcomed by the staff, just looked at with wide eyes like we were interrupting. Disappointed in not finding national park info at check in. If we return to this area will try a different RV park. We camped at Thousand Lakes RV Park in a Motorhome.

Restaurant on premises is casual and convenient; recommend the smoked tri tip for $20. IMO, the muffins are overpriced and too small.

We stayed here 5 nights while visiting Capitol Reef National Park. It was very convenient to Torrey and to the Park. We also drove Route 12 - a scenic byway. The park is wonderful. They have a nice store, a barbeque restaurant, and fabulous views!!! My only complaint was the laundries - there were two. Both were cramped and had only two washers and driers. I used both. The one near the office had a covered bench for waiting. The other one had no place to sit or wait. Otherwise, the park was just terrific and the staff we met were very nice and helpful. We camped at Thousand Lakes RV Park in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

Stayed here 5 nights, and park staff were very accommodating to a few schedule changes I had to make a few days before arrival. In addition, upon arrival in our site, we found the 50A receptacle in the power pedestal was installed upside down, making it impossible to use our EMS device. Park staff took care of it and fixed within an hour. Then, that first night, our EMS tripped off due to voltage spike (140V), and after I notified staff the next morning, they worked on the pedestal and corrected some issues, which was also impressive. Park offers great views of nearby towering red rock cliffs and mesas. Roads and sites are gravel, varying degrees of levelness from what I observed, and adequately maneuverable. Average amount of spacing between sites, and in our row, sites were arranged to have you park your vehicle next to RV. Park offers a great on-site BBQ dining facility that we ate at one night; it was excellent, but a tad pricey. They have a great camp store, especially their local souvenirs and crafts section, which was varied, well-stocked, and surprisingly reasonably priced. Bathroom and shower facilities were rustic but clean; one drawback for tall people is the toilet stalls are extremely tight, requiring you to jam your knees against the door, rather uncomfortably. Be prepared for howling winds every night here! We camped at Thousand Lakes RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Do try their BBQ...but can skip the morning muffins. While there is small grocery store in Torrey, it is sparsely stocked and high priced, as one might expect. Nearest "normal" grocery store is 20 minutes away in Loa. Diablo Café short way up road from campground is real gourmet dining experience, highly recommended!

Big rig sites on the outside row were not level, had to use blocks under tires to keep from hanging the front wheels off the ground. Wi-fi worked good as did the cable tv. Pool was clean and refreshing, though somewhat small. Park had great views of the surrounding mountains. Park was clean and well kept. All sites cleaned after each camper left. Trying to grow new trees and keeping old trees trimmed to avoiding hitting campers. Nice green area in center of the park. We camped at Thousand Lakes RV Park in a Motorhome.

Came here after some last minute research necessitated by our planned trip to Montrose, CO cancelled by friends who couldn't make it. Made my decision based on the availability of a pool (clean, small, didn't use!) and the area temperatures which were about 5 degrees lower than Montrose and significantly cooler than Moab and other OHV areas. Lots of gravel which drained away the afternoon thunderstorms; nice grassy end caps and park area near pool. Our spot was a pul through with a good bit of shade and easy hook ups on driver's side. Friendly and competent office staff, check in went about as well as it could. NOTE: some of the maps and NPS information is for sale here (cheap & convenient) however, it is all free at the Visitor Center down the road, Maintenance staff constantly visible watering, emptying trash, cleaning restrooms/showers, tending plants. Great views of the redial cliffs to the north. No pet run but they are open and affirming to all pets, even allowing them into the office area as long as they are behaved. A good deal of cabins and tent space as well. We camped at Thousand Lakes RV Park in a Motorhome.

We've stayed here before. Like all RV parks close to National Parks, the prices keep going up and up. Nice pool, but the pool guy chased everyone out by 7:00 PM! Guess he wanted to leave. They just built new bathrooms and these are MUCH better than the old ones they had. Check in folks were fine, and other people inside were nice. Need a dog run! I think you have to pay extra for more than two people. We camped at Thousand Lakes RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Nice campground and sites are long enough for big rig and tow vehicle although all big rig front wheels were slightly off ground to get level. Very clean campground and laundry facilities. Great little store with fantastic homemade muffins you can order a day ahead. The only reason they didn't get 5 stars for service is the lady who checked us in was unpleasant and not friendly at all. Made us feel like we were bothering her. Also the Wifi was terribly slow and kept bumping us off - mostly unusable. This was frustrating because there is no cell service in the campground or in the town of Torrey. Verizon is 1x in this town. You can drive about 2 1/2 miles west to get 4G or drive east and turn left on Sand Creek Road to get 3G. We camped at Thousand Lakes RV Park in a Motorhome.
