We stayed there for a week for a rally for a local RV group. The owners are very friendly and helpful. It is a very nice park in the middle of town. There is shade but there are satellite friendly sites. A little tight for big rigs but no problem getting in and out. Lots of pull through sites. Everything worked well. The owner was very helpful in telling us about places to go and providing details. We had a great rally there. We camped at Fossil Valley RV Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

There is a lot to do in the Vernal area. Dinosaur National Park, the Utah and Colorado sides. On the Colorado side, the ride down Echo Park Road is worth the drive. Fantasy Canyon - amazing. Moonshine Arch. McConkie Ranch petroglyphs. We had great food at the Vernal Brewing Company. Utah Field House of Natural History. John Jarvie Ranch. Flaming Gorge - lots of boating, fishing, geology trail.

Very friendly owners that go out of their way to provide information on area sites. The park is older with many long term residents but their sites are kept fairly clean. The sites are close with neighbor's sewer hook up right outside your door but our site accommodated our 40 foot motor-home. There are many large trees which give nice shade. We were told just to pick the site we wanted in the center row of pull-thru sites. Daily rate doesn't reflect that we paid for 6 days and the 7th was free. We camped at Fossil Valley RV Park in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

Fossil Valley RV Park is on the west side of Vernal, right on US 40/191, surrounded by suburban business. It's a little bit hard to see, and to turn into, coming, as I did, from the north. This is another campground that began life well in the outskirts and has gradually been engulfed by the town. It's somewhat old-fashioned, and by current RV resort standards, under-managed. The voluble, friendly, and helpful manager, Bruce, seems to be the lone jack-of-all-trades that handles all the needs of operating the concern. That said, everything seems to be well managed. And at a very acceptable price. The internal roads are paved, but the sites themselves are coarse, loose gravel, of the kind that jacks push down into for an inch or so before they begin to support the trailer. My site was a little under-sized: too short to park my detached truck in front of the trailer, and too narrow to wiggle into without a lot of back-and-forth adjustment. Sites have a picnic table and a large tree in the adjacent, grassy lawn, so the whole park is well shaded. I would have no reluctance whatever to return to the park if I ever travel back to Vernal. We camped at Fossil Valley RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Owner was on site. Very friendly and knowledgeable about the area. This is a no frills park. Easy in, easy out. Hookups were adequate and WiFi was good. No cable and very little OTA. We camped at Fossil Valley RV Park in a Motorhome.

Supper friendly father/son owners. Lots of Hugh trees and nicely kept grass at each site. Picnic tables on gravel. Washer and dryer are quite old but still work. Only complaint was zero amenities at all. Felt very safe and relaxed! Wound definitely stay again. We camped at Fossil Valley RV Park in a Motorhome.

Manager extremely nice and knowledgeable about the area. Our site, #28, was the first site in the park. Shady with large grassy area. Next to restroom, laundry and road. Very good wifi. There is road noise. You have to pay to use the shower. Hwy 191 from Flaming Gorge is doable in RV. 6-8 percent grades and switchbacks but not too bad. We camped at Fossil Valley RV Park in a Motorhome.

Rate reflects GS discount. This park is very nice, it is in the middle of Vernal and right off the main highway. It has many mature trees which shade almost every site and muffle noises from the road and nearby businesses. It's a very comfortable place to spend a few days. Electric was steady and worked well, water pressure 65PSI, (we used a regulator) and sewer hook up is convenient, however a tad close to the neighbor's picnic table. Most sites have a picnic table. Road noise decreases a lot at night and did not bother us. The park wifi worked very well. Verizon signal was good, 4G, 4 bar. There is a laundry room, 2 washers/2 dryers $1.75 each, they worked well. There is a charge for the showers. We did not use the restrooms or showers. The park is run by a father/son team. They are very present on the property, friendly and knowledgeable about the area. There are a few long terms here, but they (with one exception) are quiet, neat and clean. There is one old class C motorhome; occupied, but covered with blue tarps, only thing that seems out of place here, but it's on the back of the property and was no bother. There is plenty of shopping, restaurants and things to do here. We would stay here again if in the area. We camped at Fossil Valley RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Pay attention because Its easy to miss the park entrance. I stayed 3 days while visiting the area parks and recharging from lots of travel miles. The staff is exceptionally helpful and courteous. Even asking me if I'd like a site with line-of-sight for my rooftop DISH while still having shade. Interior roads are paved and sites are gravel. Lot of mature shade trees with branches high enough that they don't interfere with the RV. FHU utilities were sufficient and well placed. Sites are a bit close but for a "Park" it is just fine. My site was a pull-thru long enough for 40' MH and my car parked perpendicular, not long enough to park in-line. As others mentioned, some road noise from main street but that generally reduces late evening. I would recommend this park and would readily stay here again. We camped at Fossil Valley RV Park in a Motorhome.

Price on a weekly rate. Site was level, gravel. Owner very outgoing and willing to help your needs and a great source of info on area, to see and do. Over the air cable TV with good strong signal. Middle of town but right off of 191 so as noted by others, good amount of road noise added by locals with trucks with loud mufflers. Would stay again. Price is weekly rate. Easy to get in/out off of US 40 in Vernal. Interior roads are a mix of paved and gravel. Sites are gravel, level, with picnic table, and utilities worked well. Wifi varied from useless to decent. Verizon signal strong. Mostly treed so lots of shade and only a few sites get satellite reception. Sites vary in size and ease of navigation. Owner is very friendly and very helpful. I have to mention that there are times, day and night, when locals with very loud vehicles go by on the highway with engines revved very high generating a lot of noise. This is obviously no fault of the park but if you are a light sleeper it can be disturbing. We camped at Fossil Valley RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

First for the good: The grounds are clean (well except for all the tree branches on the ground from a storm which weren't picked up 2 days later). The washrooms and laundry are sparkling clean, although they charge 25 cents for 5 minutes of showering! The location is great; right in the town of Vernal. That's it. The rest is bad: The sites were short and narrow. We could barely fit our long bed truck and 30' fifth wheel on the site. We could not extend our awning due to a tree. The roads are navigable, but very tight. There is no place to walk the dog. There is no cable TV. Digital channels were pixelated and unwatchable. Road traffic can be heard due to the proximity to the highway. We awoke one morning to the loud sounds of a garbage truck at adjacent retail property. There are quite a few permanent sites. Some are kept well, but a number of very old rigs with tarps for roofs. We will never stay at this park again. We camped at Fossil Valley RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

The owner manager was so nice and helpful. We pulled in to the park with some type of vehicle fluid leaking from our RV and he told us about it right away. He also told us where to find a Ford Dealer for repairs in the morning. The park was super shady on a hot day with grass between each site. The sites were spacious enough. It was centrally located in town. The free wifi was pretty good. Antenna tv worked fine there. The sites were all gravel but very level. Not buggy at all.
