What a great park. only thing to make it better would be sewer hook up at sites. The sites were fairly level and gravel and beyond roomy. Wifi was a superb good thing as there is no ota TV. Verizon cell service was 1x so no sending pictures via text. Very close to Bennington, VT and a great ride to Saratoga battle fields for some more history. 5 covered bridges within 25 miles. Great motorcycle riding everywhere. We camped at Greenwood Lodge and Campsites in a Fifth Wheel.

Stayed here once before (reviewed once before too) and the stay was decent so decided to stay again. Seems the son is running the show this time around, with mom and dad making appearances. The entire process of booking a site is a headache ... you have to call, and call again as they don't answer the first time around. No credit cards, you have to mail a check and only when they receive and cash it is your reservation confirmed. We did not pick a site but when we arrived they apologized that our site was taken and asked us to chose the field or the pond - we have two little ones and the sites along the pond were small and the slope to the pond steep so we opted for the field. They parked us directly beside the dump station and the "field" is the septic leech field! Talk about cheap! Making their visitors camp next to their @*&!#-tanks which smell!! When we commented to them that the site smelt the son looked appalled and said "our customers @*&!# doesn't smell". The field was also VERY windy and VERY sunny and hot. We could not use our awning as shade due to the wind. We came with a screen house for shade but had to go to extremes to tie it down which ended up breaking it. The other sites, oddly enough, had NO wind! The weekend was a mess and we will not be staying here again. We camped at Greenwood Lodge and Campsites in a Travel Trailer.

Overall Rating:

First Impression: Out in the middle of nowhere. Rolling fields and forest. Safety: Unseen forest critters but no concerns. No security lighting. Access: Vermont route 9 east of Bennington 6 miles. Municipal route 9 all uphill and in good condition. Small but visible signs give warning and large sign into lodge and CG. Drive through parking area which is in terrible shape (ruts, potholes, ridges). Garmin GPS pointed to wrong road as park entrance. Office: Part of the manager's residence. No store. Restrooms/showers in same building along with an assortment of recreation games (foosball, air hockey, ping-pong). Cash or checks only. Online reservations not available. No price discounts. Facilities: No pool, spa, or fitness room. Small, rustic, two person restroom/showers, clean, no mold, no rust, no privacy changing area (score "A-"). No propane sales. No playground. No off-leash dog run. Campground: Not in a flood plain. Use office building as a storm shelter. Part is heavily wooded. Interior roads are narrow gravel in good condition with gentle turns and no overhead obstacles. Big rig and long coach friendly. Numerous tent areas but no yurts or cabins. Sites are all generous, sufficiently level, grass/dirt/gravel, pull-through and back-in, grass between. Pedestals at rear of site with electric 20/30/50, varying by site; no meters. Adequate water pressure with good taste. NO SEWER; use dump station. No patios; nice wooden picnic tables. Fires in fire rings. Good satellite views in meadow area, none in wooded sites. No cable TV. OTA TV found 1 channel. Free Wi-Fi with weak coverage, good bandwidth but spotty internet connection. Verizon phone at 3 bars; no 4G coverage. Single stream recycle bin. Noise: None. Beautiful silence. Bug Report (mid June): Gnats. Runners: CG roads not suited for running (loose gravel). Yoga: Put your mat on the grass if so inclined. Conclusion: Score 6-Nice. We camped at Greenwood Lodge and Campsites in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

There's nothing around. No city/town/village. Drive back to Bennington for local restaurants, some fast food eateries, fuel (diesel range $2.999 to $3.459). No national restaurant chains. Churches, banks, local shops but not really a tourist destination. Bennington is steeped in history. Visit the Revolutionary War "Monument" (huge tower, $5/person).

We stopped for one night while traveling from the Finger Lakes of NY to Acadia NP. Had read good reviews from RV Trip Wizard and chose this for a stop. We were very impressed by the meticulous way the grounds are kept, took a stroll by the stream and to the mill pond. The site was level, easy access and we enjoyed the lovely surroundings and quietness of the camp site. There are only about 40 sites so I'm sure it's not always possible to get in during busy times. Our stop was on Memorial Day (Monday) so the grounds had emptied out earlier in the day. We made reservations about three weeks prior to the trip and mailed a check in advance. The WiFi was surprisingly good (it appeared that they had just installed new antennas) though our Verizon cell coverage was a bit weak. We prefer more relaxed and quiet grounds when we are traveling and this stop for the bill nicely. The owner was welcoming and clearly takes pride in his endeavor. Would recommend to others and never hesitate to stop again. We camped at Greenwood Lodge and Campsites in a Motorhome.

What a very pleasant surprise! When we saw the first signage to Prospect Mountain Ski we were a little concerned, but we followed the road up to the Greenwood Lodge/Campground's registration office and saw the beauty in this gem of a park. There are two nice ponds on the property with use of their canoes "free," as well as they supply the life jackets. The sites are spaciously spread apart, many separated by trees/shrubs offering privacy, although we chose a site more in the open. The WiFi was very strong much better than most campgrounds we stay at that advertise WiFi, but usually do not have good, strong connections. This campground is remote, heavily wooded area, yet very good WiFi We camped at Greenwood Lodge and Campsites in a Fifth Wheel.

Can't add too much to the last couple of reviews. This is a beautiful location and great spot for a quiet getaway. CAUTION, do not follow GPS for turn off of route 9. They will give you instructions when you make reservations. If you exit Route 9 onto Greenwood (their address) you will not be happy if you have anything bigger than a pop up. This campground is in the country where it is quiet and peaceful....our site was very shady, level and had privacy from the next site....electric and water were good, no sewers but easy to get to dump station....the owners are very friendly and helpful...we had no ATT cell service but had decent WiFi....got a few over the air tv channels....beautiful location for visiting the surrounding area, a lot of shopping and good places to eat...shower and restrooms are in the main building, they are small but manageable....they have sites that are open next to a lake but we choose the woods....we would stay here again.... Stayed here one night and were overall happy with our experience. The place is family owned and though the family is friendly they are also a bit strange. The son visits each site daily as he empties the trash and recycling from each site. Follow their rules to a T or he will report back to his parents on every single broken rule. We caught him watching us a few times and overheard him telling his mother details about our neighboring campers, things he had seen while out. The dad drives his tractor around every morning, so expect to be woken to that. There is WiFi at each site, as well as water and electric but no sewer - though there is a dump station. Sites are large and semi-private. They advertise three ponds but we only found two - don't expect to swim. We lucked out with a wooded site but many are in the hot sun. Overall pleasant. We camped at Greenwood Lodge and Campsites in a Tent Trailer.

Another reviewer called it a gem in the rough. Exactly right, but not all that rough. Mom, Dad and Son obviously have worked hard to make this place shine. They take great pride in their campground and they should. It is beautiful. Next door to the Green Mountain National Forest and near the highest point on Vermont Highway 9. Two small ponds and a well-manicured grassy area are the view from almost all of the campsites. Adjacent to Highway 9 but watch closely for the sign. We camped at Greenwood Lodge and Campsites in a Motorhome.

Next to an old ski mountain this is a small but tidy park to use if you are exploring the Bennington area. They probably cater more to campers and small rigs but they have a few big rig sites that are easy in and out. We camped at Greenwood Lodge and Campsites in a Motorhome.

This is a gem in the rough. The owner obviously puts a lot of time keeping up the appearance of this very nice place to spend a day or a weekend. Cash or check only. The sites are grouped around a few ponds and adjacent meadow. Most have a clear view of the sky. Some are suitable for any size RV, others are intended for tents. No sewer connections however the dump station was located in an open area near the exit.

The property could easily accommodate more sites, but they have kept it to a manageable number. We look forward to coming back another time. We camped at Greenwood Lodge and Campsites in a Travel Trailer.

Spent one night on our way home. Small family owned campground with a bit of an odd layout. Nice owner that cares about his property. Call for reservation and he will give you directions and not have you rely on GPS. Interior roads good. Site was level. No shade at our site but others are in wooded area. No septic but dump station available. No problems with water or electric. Restrooms very clean but odd shower set up. We camped at Greenwood Lodge and Campsites in a Travel Trailer.

This is a really nice little park. It's a few miles outside of Bennington and it's best to enter through the ski area that's beside the campground. Sites are scattered about and there's a bit of distance between you and your neighbor. Nice babbling brooks was right outside our front door and there are several ponds and walking trails. The owner is super nice and lives onsite. He was very helpful. No sewer sites that I am aware of but there is an easy to access dump station. We really enjoyed our stay.
