Oct 2019 - $50.00
Very nice campground. We had full hookups and backed up to a few trees. We were here the last week of the season, but the camp store was still very well stocked. Great tips on dining choices. Pools were already closed but hit was available to those who wished to use it. They have 9 hole miniature golf and a lot of other games. Laundry room is small with four washers and four dryers so could be a problem if there are a lot of campers. Very close to Stowe and an hour or so from Burlington. Would recommend this park to anyone. - Retreatowner

Great campground. Gated. Easy access and large, grass sites. It was nice having grass, the dogs really liked it. There is a field next to the river that is nice for the dogs. The owner was very helpful in identifying activities. - Sammy23

Stayed here 2 weeks and have stayed previous years. Great owners. Always helpful. Could use more 50 amp hookups. Looking forward to staying there next year. - txtrav

We stayed in campsite #37. It was pretty level with reasonable privacy. This park is meticulously maintained by an extremely energetic and helpful staff. The beach is great as is the climb to the fire tower. - Ronahue

Elmore State Park is huge with over 36 square miles of land. There is a beautiful lake in the park which is a walk away from the campground with the Elmore Mountains in the background. The campground is laid out in two big loops and many of the sites are huge and very private. There are 45 tent and RV sites and 15 lean-to’s which Vermont seems to have in most of their state park. Restrooms are clean and the showers are pay. At the lake one can canoe and swim and they just built a new building with bathrooms and a lobby with rocking chairs, stone fireplace and picnic tables. This was a one night stopover for us while traveling Vermont in the Fall. Rangers were very nice and we would return but there are no hookups. The town is close to Stowe, Waterbury and Montpelier and is a popular tourist destination in the summer. - gsnakehill

Maplewoods CG has a great view of the mountains! I was parked in the second row, so I can't speak for those further back. This was the most expensive campground I stayed in for this years travels and was quite surprised when I read the paperwork after checking in stating if you use your AC or a space heater there will be an additional charge of $3.00 a day. Also, they wanted to charge for the WIFI that doesn't reach any distance. There are two bathhouses with flush toilets, but the showers are coin operated. There is a laundry facility as well, I didn't use it so I can't tell you how much it cost. There is NO privacy what so ever in the CG, but the seasonal campers seemed nice enough. The CG is very conveniently located for all of the "tourist" spots, Stowe, Smugglers Notch, etc... and only an hour away from Burlington. A plus for me was being able to have packages shipped to their address! - NanetteLkc

Our site had insufficient electrical power to run both of our air conditioners at most times. At all times we had to watch what electrical items were simultaneously turned "on". Nice spacing (wider than a typical commercial campground); and no visual privacy between sites. In general, the view from the campground is pretty (i.e., hay field and mountains in the distance). A small number of sites have that view. Roads and sites are packed dirt with some gravel. There was often a lot of dust in the air. The campground was typically quiet. We had numerous undesirable surprises upon our arrival - they tried to charge us a higher site cost, beyond what they quoted us for our specific site. We learned about surcharges (e.g., $3 daily charge to use AC or heat) and they not only charge for their wifi, but it is only available within 300 feet of their office building. Our bill was incorrect and it took MANY conversations for them to realize they made an error (i.e., on our bill, they applied the 6% sales tax to the site rate and then additionally applied the 6% sales tax again to the total bill). None of the information that surprised us was available on their website; shared verbally (even when relevant questions were asked, such as confirming that electric usage was included in the site cost); nor was the information included when they sent us our reservation confirmation. Note: Our Verizon and AT&T data and cell coverage was weak at times and sometimes non-existent. AT&T's data coverage was typically a little better, when Verizon's coverage was weak or non-existent. - 2FullTimersinaFifth

This campground is sitting on top of the hill overlooking the mountains! It's a very clean and quiet campground! They have an in-ground pool, playroom next to the pool, and a playground for kids! It's one of my favorite campgrounds, hands down! The owners are very nice and very accommodating. They put on horseshoe tournaments and bean bag tournaments, race pools, DJ at the pool on certain weekends and they also have weekends where people bring a dish to share together. Their store is fun to shop in and they have great ice cream! They have been building a pavilion building and they have expanded the park with more sites. Their sites are all great and the sizes are big too! - Debbie_mimi

Smugglers Notch State Park, Stowe, Vermont September 15 & 16 $20 no hookups. This campground was moved in 2003 from across the street so the bathrooms are new and very clean but only one shower (pay). There is only about 19 sites but only about 6 or 7 that RV’s can fit into and it is on a mountain but you can get level. One would suggest reservations if you are headed this way but during the week in the Fall you may get a site. The sites are a good size but some are hard to back up into. It is near Mt. Mansfield ski area and the Stowe Lodge Resort. There are hiking trails from the campground and it is an easy drive to the quaint village of Stowe for shopping , restaurants and a bike trail. This is a four season resort area with plenty to do in every season. It is considered the best ski resort in the state. Very pretty area and we would definitely return. RV’s should know that they can only drive up to the Gondola section of the resort because they have to turn around since they are not allowed to drive the five miles over the mountain to the Smugglers Notch Ski area so must use route 100 and drive around about 30 miles. If one is going to try the bike trail there is parking at the church to the right to get on the trail but not parking in the rest of the town. This is a wonderful area to camp in but if your RV is over 28 to 30 feet I don’t know if I would come up here but we did see some big campers on route 100. - gsnakehill

Pretty park, nice little creek and a river run along the campground. Huge open area in the center of campground, great for kids to run around. Unusual layout of the camp sites and utilities. I think they refer to them as buddy sites-with 2 sites' hookups on one pole, so someone is going to be on the wrong side, unless they pull in. We never quite figured it out. When we got there the person from the next door site was plugged into our utilities, even though it was clearly marked-trying to avoid the meter on his site? Anyway, we asked for a different site and got one in the big center of the campground with all sorts of space and no problems with the hookups. Sites in the inside of the circle around the big grassy area are much bigger than on the outside. There are no trees, so there is not much privacy or shade. $44.00 is a good value up here, and we had a no other problems once we got settled in. - Kathyva
Sep 2019 - $44.00
The good.. great location! Close to Stowe and Waterbury. Great internet!
The bad.... Buddy sites, so you have to share your space with strangers.
All the water and electric sites are right on the busy highway and are not large enough for big buses. Seems they
know you will get there and have to upgrade to water, electric and sewer.
They charge you a $10 change fee for any reservation adjustments, no matter how far in advance of your stay. - Fran_Dawn

This is a beautiful little park in a great location. The family who owns it does a great job making you feel welcome. Our site was a pull in forward site with a great view of a grassy area. - Admiral II

One of the best Vermont State Parks that we've stayed at. It's all dry camping, but Area A seems to have better sites for RVs. Good hiking trails, popular for mountain biking but steep terrain, nice beach area. Most waterfront sites are on a high bluff and the shore is not directly accessible. A mix of old and new bathroom facilities. The one near us didn't have a shower and really needed updating, but it was clean. - dedendon
Sep 2018 - $25.00
Camped 1 night in 22' Class C, last week of September. After a day spent exploring Burlington we wanted to be situated near Waterbury the next day. The commercial sites in the area didn't seem to have the best reviews so we opted for the state park. We arrived after dark which I do not recommend if it can be avoided. The park is heavy wooded and cloaked in darkness. We drove right by the dump station / potable water fill and didn't find it until we had looped around and were headed back out. selecting and maneuvering into a site in the dark was a bit of a challenge. There was also no ranger/attendant on duty when we arrived, and somehow I misinterpreted the map board and stayed in a site that was apparently already reserved, however I supposed they never showed up or just didn't make a fuss about it because we weren't aware until paying the next morning. This campground would be challenging for anyone in a rig much bigger than ours, I would imagine. Maybe the "B Area" is better though, but it was closed on our visit. Once in and settled however, it was a fine place to stay for the night, and perfect to set out to Ben & Jerry's and all the other attractions in the area the next day. - VW_Vista

Roads are a little tight, some sites a little tight getting into. We meet another couple here to go to Ben and Jerrys. A little for off the beaten path but a good stay. - goldsp8

Great people, great new location. Small on size, large on personality. Tucked in the middle of nowhere. If you want an amusement park, this is not the place but it is the place that is near many attractions and just a great place to spend time. Very clean. Very large private sites. THIS is camping. - tyandow

Yet another relaxing, beautiful stay at Hazens Notch Campground. Stayed there 3 nights over Labor Day weekend and had a very relaxing time. Quiet and peaceful. My wife and I had a great campfire where we watched the stars for hours. In the morning of the last day we discovered a deer fawn had slept nestled under the back of our our trailer to get out of the rain and munched wild apples. What could be better than that. We are already looking forward to camping there again! The owner helped my sister in law back her camper in because her husband was at work. He made sure everything was taken care of and even came by later to see if we needed anything. - set182
Jul 2013 - $25.00
What a beautiful diamond in the rough. The views are spectacular from the top of Hazen's Notch Mountain! The owner does a great job with this small campground and is a wonderful host. We stayed 4 nights during a charity event called Bare Bones and had a blast! It is great place to hide away as there is no cell service. You can just DE-stress because there is no Wi-fi or TV to stress you out with the evening news or emails and phone calls. Nice sites with trees and open sites, but there is a limited number of sites with full hookups, so if you plan to go, you should call ahead to to check if they are available. If you ride a motorcycle, as we do, the surrounding area of the North East Kingdom is beautiful to ride through, and a trip around Lake Willoughby is a must. We plan on staying again over the Labor Day weekend and again and again! - set182

We had a spacious, long, level pull-through site here and the staff couldn't have been friendlier. However, it is mostly seasonal and more like a poorly kept mobile home park than a campground. The laundry was newly renovated with clean, well maintained machines and the restrooms are supposedly slated for renovation. Access to the park from I-89 is easy on, easy off. In respect to the price and no sewer hookups and the general condition of the grounds we would not return to this campground. - Damon Travelers
Jul 2008 - $31.00
This is a park with lots of noisy, rowdy seasonals. The sites are very close together. Not sure if there are adults that work in the campground as I never saw one. Each time I went to the camp store, it was two teen aged boys that helped me, this included our checking in. When we arrived, I went to the store to find the door locked (even though it was in the middle of their “open” time). There was an “intercom” button that I guess alerted the boys by walkie talkie. I am not sure as they never answered my “hello” they just showed up on a tractor, with walkie talkies in hand. I don’t know how well the store was stocked, as I felt I was an inconvenience to the boys being in the store. You are issued an access card to reenter the park and if you arrive back later than mid-night, you are not allowed back in and have to park you vehicle and walk back to your site. I assume this is to keep light levels down, but this does not prevent the seasnonals from driving around the campground after midnight, than happed while we were there. The Wi-Fi worked fine with a nominal fee, $2.00 per day. We will not stay here again. - Papotvin-VT
Sep 2007 - $32.00
This is a big, bustling park with lots of seasonals. Everyone seems to follow the rules, however, because it was quiet by 11 PM. There's a nice family restaurant across the street from the RV park. - Deb344

Nov 2018 - $30.00
This is a very small park and a bit tight for a full size motorhome, but the owners were very helpful to get us into our back-in space with no issues. We stayed here for one week to visit Burlington, Stowe and other sites within 1 hour drive. Noise from the nearby highway could be an issue for some, but we always use "sound machines" to cover noise when sleeping, so it was fine. WIFI was typical of most CGs, ie, not real good. No TV cable or on-air channels available. Overall good value camping rate and very friendly owners! - Mark 5
Jul 2018 - $30.00
Small but quite pretty campground on hillside. Level site, fairly closely spaced. To sit out we sat behind the coach. Next to major highway, but noise not too bad. Good 30 amp, hookups good. Very friendly owners, who were more than willing to help as needed. Friendly seasonals. Good location to visit area attractions. - Motorhome girl
Jun 2018 - $26.00
This facility is easily reached and any updated GPS will take you right to the driveway. Remember the old saying "never judge a book by its cover" well this definitely applies here. When I first got in off the road I thought to myself "where is the campground". It's tight coming in and what you see in front of you is the entire park. But don't turn around and leave because, if you do, you will miss a truly fantastic place to stay. During our time here we felt like we were staying with family. Our site #10 was a back in, it was level, it had ample shade, convenient utilities, and good separation. Only two small negatives: there is only 30 amp so if you're a power user keep this in mind; there is absolutely no over the air TV nor cable. The owners and hosts will do everything reasonably possible to make your stay a wonderful experience. They definitely maintain the park and it shows. Depending on your site there may be road noise from Route 2 - but truthfully, we never noticed it even at night and even though we were backed up right to it. WI-FI was excellent. Clean but small laundry room. We would definitely come back again - William T
