As we drove down the narrow, rather rough entry road, we had doubts about this campground; but we were pleasantly surprised! The young man at the office was friendly and helpful. The roads and sites are gravel/dirt, sites are mostly level and roomy, among tall shade trees. This campground is more like a State Park, only with full hookups, cable TV & WiFi. They also have a large, fenced dog playground with grass and shade trees; and nearby walking trails. We would definitely stay here again. - FranM
Aug 2018 - $36.00
This is a quiet family owned campground and a great value. It's a beautiful place to stay to explore the area. It has a rustic feel with sites among the trees - you can hardly see your neighbors. The sites are large and level with full hookups as well as tent sites. It is family and dog friendly with a playground and dog park. The owners are hospitable and take pride in their business. Great central place to stay to explore VT and NH. Sites are mulched. We will make this our go to campground to explore VT. It must be breathtaking in the fall. - DDP

Park location is close to many points of interest. Very quiet and peaceful. The showers are hot with good pressure and stream. Walking trails on site as well as across the road. - Helga K

Very hard campground to review. Neg: The infrastructure was old and out of date so we did not use their facilities. Our campsite was in an open field and heavy rains could have been a major issue. Grounds needed major maintenance and cleanup. Pos: the scenery and nature was beautiful! It was very quiet and other campers were very friendly. The gravel road out back of the campground was an awesome place to walk the dogs along the mountainside for 2-3 miles. We needed a place in that particular location for a couple of nights and likely won't pass that way again. Place was a diamond in the rough with lots of opportunity. - busyteach

$51 nightly though we averaged $34 with Passport America discount. W/E30/S/C; The camground is heavily wooded. We had a level dirt site with nice distance between neighboring sites. Location is very convenient as it is just a short distance off I-91. We would definitely stay here again. - Teddi2
Aug 2018 - $20.00
Quiet park in a heavily wooded area. Great feeling from start to finish. Arrival was quick and smooth with an escort to our site. 3 way hook ups were easy to use. No satellite due to trees but there was cable. Only 30 amp but we have found that to be typical in this area. Wifi was only available near office. Had issue with low voltage but the area electric provider is due to swap out the transformer. Being heavily treed, we didn't need as much AC as if we were parking in the open/sun. Owner was very accessible, willing to please and hard working. He even trimmed a branch we thought might interfere with our exit. Convenient location for us for side trips to American Precision Museum in Windsor and King Arthur in Norwich. Nice Shaw grocery store in nearby Springfield. Good value with Passport America and fit our needs perfectly. - Himie
May 2018 - $42.00
Overall a nice rustic campground. We were given an escort to our site upon arrival (nice touch). This campground is in the middle of the woods with large wooded and private sites. Hookups were easy to get to and located in the middle of the site. Water had sufficient pressure. 30amp power was not 30amp and kept tripping my surge protector. I could not run my AC and other items at the same time. Message on the device kept reading L1 was low.
Although they have rules listed on their literature, it very clear that they do not enforce them. Dogs are often left unattended at sites and often bark constantly. Upon leaving the campground we had to find our way out. There were low lying wires that needed to be lifted with a stick in order for the trailer to fit under. I might also suggest that the campground widen and clear some of the branches near the dump station. There is also a man made pond at the campground for swimming, but I would not go swimming in that water. - clw_man

We had a wonderful time at this campground. We traveled with a large group (8 families) and all had sites along the river. Bathrooms were very clean. Owner was very friendly. New rule: children had to have life vests to tube on the river (good rule) but we didn't have vests. Owner provided some for our group to borrow at no cost (not heard of these days!) Sites were a little tight, but because we were friends, we didn't mind. We will most likely come back here as a group. Wonderful spot! - JBaird

Camperama is a very friendly well run campground. Large grassy sites. Beautiful views and the water sites are the best. Activities for the kids. Recently changed hands and continues to be run well. We have been going there for 20+ years and will continue to do so. Wi-Fi is spotty. Honey wagon service is available if needed. - Fuller

The main field was a strange experience, glad we went with a large group. They let us arrange ourselves how ever we wanted, so we had this neat courtyard feel. The other campers were all so friendly. The amenities are none existent, bathrooms were satisfactory, the creek is beautiful. Was running low due to lack of rainfall as was the reservoir up the road. Their were issues with water and electricity but staff worked to resolve and kept us informed. As the group next to us said, we got cold beer and console to play, we're good. Be prepared to be off grid, our kids were not. Yet across the creek there is another campground that have many more amenities and links to the outside world. If we go back to area might try the other campground, but with a group Bald Mtn was fun. - K S
Sep 2010 - $22.00
Okay the reason I gave this a 9 is because it was the middle of the week and NO ONE was here. We had it to ourselves. Although there was a SEA of parked seasonal motorhomes, 5'vers and TT's everywhere with porches and permanent fixtures etc., no one was here. I also gave it a 9 since nothing is around this place, the State Park was closed for the season already and the towns nearby had basically nothing to see. There was a river right behind us with more seasonal campers lining the other side. Oh, when I say no one was around, that includes the owner. We called ahead and they told us to just grab a site and pay in the morning. We did so but when I went to dump on the way out no one was here. We waited for over an hour and still no one came in to their office. We knocked on every door and still nothing. Well, we'll sent you a check in the mail sir. Thank you for the stay. - viper-2

I've been coming here for years, very quiet, peaceful CG. Staff knows who you are and are very friendly. Sites are large, but they often do not even put others near you. Lots of privacy. Numerous flea markets, covered bridges, and good restaurants in the area. I especially enjoy tubing down the river, seeing all the birds and other wildlife. - JudoJeff

In addition to nightly rate, you're charged an extra $2/nite if you use your AC. They don't accept credit cards and prefer cash over a check. Lots of seasonal campers occupying preferred spots. Our site was pretty close to the road. Not much grass - so, despite outdoor mats, a lot of dirt got tracked into our camper. Faulty electric hookup required us to move after we were all set up, and caused blown fuses. Staff not very friendly. - Goldilox
Oct 2016 - $30.00
A complete difference from the other campground up the road. Lush greenery, nice roads, a pretty place. No restroom at our end, except for a porta pottie. No wifi except at the office, and that really doesn't count. Campgrounds need to grasp the concept of having high speed reliable internet service to all sites. If we really wanted to get away from it all, we'd be in a tent.
Nice family owners. - Kvw613

A short distance off the highway and easy to navigate our 36 foot fifth wheel to the entrance. Easy check-in and a guide to get us to the generous pull through site. Cash or check only and WI-FI only available near the office. The staff was very helpfull. - SuiteHauler350

Sep 2011 - $20.00
This campground and most of the sites are right on the Connecticut River. We stayed one night on a rainy day on our way to northern Vermont right after the floods from Hurricane Irene that shut down much of the state. Nice campground but narrow road to get to the sites. We have a 25ft Fleetwood Pulse and we could fit in most sites but I would not want to drive down the narrow road with something bigger. No hookups but the sites are all shaded with a connecting trail on the cliff above the river. They do offer canoe trips from here where they will drop you off north of the campground and you paddle down and pull in at the campground. The staff was very nice and at the ranger station campers are welcome to enjoy their outside fireplace with a roaring fire and a cozy little room inside the building to meet others. Showers are extra but the restroom was old but very clean. It was not hard to get a site during the week during the fall on a rainy day but they do recommend getting reservations. - gsnakehill

Choice of mature pine or hardwood forest sites, or open grass meadow (there is a high power line overhead, but also a beautiful view of Okemo ski resort and surrounding mountains. Facilities are dated but kept clean. Owners are friendly & very helpful. Within a hour's drive of many of central Vermont & western New Hampshire's Ski resorts, cheese factories & other attractions, as well as 3 covered bridges within 5 miles. Swimming pool, playground and large grassy play yard for recreation. Definitely will stay there again. - readontheroad

Sep 2016 - $25.00
This is mainly a seasonal site campground with a few transient sites available. We were the only transients in the campground during our stay. Office staff was very friendly. Not much in the way of Verizon cell or hot spot available. The bathrooms are clean but dated. The worst part for the bathhouse was either the long walk around to the bathhouse (up hill but not as steep) or the steep short cut up the hill (by the dump station). People we met were friendly. Laundry was expensive but the machines worked well. Campsite was on grass with a picnic table and fire pit. One must travel about one mile on a good gravel road and then climb a steep (but short) hill up to the campground. We probably would not stay here again. - roadking

The campground is very quiet; the sites are large. Most of the park is made up of seasonals. The owner could not have been any nicer. We would definitely stay here again! - Texas Safari

We had another good stay at Winhall Brook. No signal at all on our Verizon cell phone in the campground area. Campground office offers a WiFi hot spot which has a nice sitting area to use your devices. In addition noticed Londonderry, South Londonderry, Jamaica and other nearby towns are mostly a dead zone for Verizon. Helpful camp hosts. Campground has some hills and is a mix of wooded and open sites. Most W/E sites that we noticed were average or above in size and level. Campsites are plain dirt or grass pending on location to trees or open fields. Grounds are well maintained. Bathrooms and showers were clean and updated. As always found everyone very respectful. Careful of the bridge to the south side of campground. It is tough to cross for the RV's over 40'. Might want to call office ahead of time to be sure your RV is okay to cross. We enjoyed this campground and would certainly return or recommend this place to anyone. - mdcamping
Jul 2017 - $13.00
This is a large campground that consists of mostly primitive sites along the Winhall River, and has a loop of electric/water sites as well. These sites are popular even midweek in summer, make sure and reserve a site online to ensure a spot (or take a riverside primitive spot, as they are more scenic). Our site could not get satellite but others could...also no cell signal but the office has wifi. Our site was out of level but not all sites were as out of level as ours. Showers and bathrooms were clean with hot water. - Pinkflamingo71
Aug 2016 - $26.00
We again enjoyed our trip to Winhall Brook. Weather unfortunately did not cooperate where as we had rain almost our entire stay. At the very least campground did seem to have good drainage. Some changes for this year is all the campground roads are now paved. Campground has some hills and is a mix of wooded and open sites. Grounds are well maintained. Our hookups were in good working order. Barely a signal on our Verizon cell phone, just enough to get out a text. Campground office offers a WiFi hot spot which has a nice sitting area to use your devices. Helpful camp hosts. Campground has a river where you can go swimming, tubing or relaxing on the river's edge. There is also a abandoned rail road system that goes through the campground which is now scenic trails. Kayaking is also nearby. Spot on clean bathroom/showers. Found everyone very respectful. This year black bear are present, I saw one in the campground. We enjoyed this campground and would certainly return or recommend this place to anyone. - mdcamping
