Jan 2019 - $51.00
Again, our campground of choice on our first night heading south. Great staff. Physical improvements being made each year. Only issues is that is getting a bit pricey. - dandd
Nov 2018 - $68.00
Traveling full-time in a 38-foot coach we stayed 3-nights in a site for big rigs (site # F29). Pd $68 night. This is a nice park with level gravel sites, but we're giving it a poor rating (1-Star) because they ignored our complaints about the wifi. We had planned to stay longer, but after three days of complaining to the office about having no wifi, we're leaving. We really would have appreciated a follow-up call, but we never heard anything. Every day we'd call about the wifi and the office personnel would tell us a different story. When we complained on the third day, we were told the Owner had attempted to fix the wifi the day before, but it was still down. Unfortunately, we require wifi wherever we stay, which is why we make it a point to always verify if the park sites have a wifi signal before making reservations and this park had assured us there was a good wifi signal at each site. We could not get on the WIFI to check the weather or even our email. For some users such as ourselves, wifi is an important feature and was one of the reasons we decided to stay here. Needless to say, we're disappointed. - JDC10
Nov 2018 - $40.00
This campground was absolutely FANTASTIC!!! The grounds and equipment are in good repair. The restrooms are clean and maintained with all the necessities. We were assigned a site close to the restroom as per our request. The site was clean; the gravel bed was level. Additionally, there was ample room to park our Jeep so it did not block the roadway. On Thanksgiving, the park provided us with a genuine Thanksgiving Dinner that was excellent in all respects. The staff was friendly and most attentive to our needs, to include helping us find out why our camper did not have heat during the cold nights and also to provide us with suggestions for things to do for the weekend after Thanksgiving. On Sunday morning, they fed us waffles, which tasted GREAT... We plan to stay at this campground the next time we visit the Ashland/Richmond area. We highly recommend a visit to the Americamps RV Park in Ashland, VA for a very pleasant experience. - James3

Strange park. No management around. Fin d a spot, fill out a form, drop into slot in wall. Close to Richmond. Adjacent to older mobile home park. - User3119
Jun 2017 - $36.00
We spent 1 night here on our travels North. Easy to find off I-95, quick registration, and we had a f/h, wide pull-through site. Utilities worked well including WIFI. Feel it was a great deal for an over-night or short-term stay to see things around Richmond; not "fancy" but plenty of room between coaches. Some seasonals & permanents parked further back. We were here in a 40' Class A. - Steve & Linda
Apr 2017 - $40.00
We have stayed here in the past. It is adequate for our needs but if I had children we would not stay here; no amenities. Finding a campground in the Richmond area is no easy task. - Aqua Lady

Oct 2018 - $40.00
This is an interesting park. On weekends in the fall, it fill up with folks who go to the Kings Dominion Amusement Park. Then during the week the park is nearly deserted. We used a site with 30 amp and no sewer hookup. However sites with these facilities are available. The full-service sites are on concert pads. They are arranged head to toe, so that the electrical connection can be used by two RV's. The park is well maintained. The restrooms are clean and the water is nice and hot for showers. The staff is pleasant and very helpful. We would stay here again, although we thought the park was a bit pricey. - hoppytoad
Sep 2018 - $51.00
We stopped here during a hurricane evacuation from Virginia Beach. The park was almost empty. So, it was very quiet. The weather was nice so we stayed 2 nights. Bring extra long connections. The hookups are in the center. - Marjorie9869
Aug 2018 - $60.00
The park was easily accessible off of I-95. We only stayed overnight on our way to North Carolina. Site was paved, but not long enough to stay hooked up. Must mention that when we connected to the water hookup, all you could smell in the RV was a distinct sulfur smell. We used deodorant in all the drains and the smell faded after about an hour. But it gave us second thoughts about ingesting the water. - NYKnappers

Nov 2017 - $17.00
Campground well kept. Owner was very nice. Two thirds full timers but the majority had nice looking sites. Campground will no longer accept Passport America after January, 2018. - User3064
May 2017 - $25.00
The hook ups were centrally located. The site was level. The wifi did not work at the site, however we did have good reception in the office. The shower had one temperature and it was warm. It is a very quite park and the owner is VERY helpful. The park is located off the main road, but worth the drive if you are going to stay a few days. (Note the rate was for a week stay) - Al and Anne-Marie
Apr 2017 - $30.00
We spent the weekend in our favorite spot (25). 5th or 6th visit here. Love R&D family CG. Great neighbors. Many full timers, but you wouldn't know it as all sites are well maintained. Ron and Don are awesome owners. We will be back in August for another weekend visit. The bathhouse is immaculately clean and modern. DirecTv for transients was perfect as was ATT cell service. The only negative is the exit is rough from having to pull into the road on an upgrade and it appears some times spun making a couple of ruts. - Nomad61

Jun 2015 - $43.00
No soap, towels in restroom. Bugs, cobwebs in restroom and showers.
Laundry room looked like it had not been cleaned for months.
Will not stay here again. - Rlcjw
Jun 2011 - $40.00
Rather of stayed at the near gas station. Pool was green - so bad couldn't even see a foot deep and tiles were stained with black stuff, what tiles were still on. Bathrooms did not have toilet paper most of the time and very dirty, toilets had rings in them. Grass was allowed to grow up to your knees. Complained about your pets a lot. NOT PET FRIENDLY. Electric for the site ran almost $4.00 a day for a 29ft camper. Sites are narrow and dirty. And no such thing as quiet time when dark. Will not stay again. - campordie
Apr 2011 - $36.00
We arrived after dark. Our reservation was left taped to the door. Our site was marked, but not very easy to see. Once we found it, we had a slight problem. At one end it was muddy. All of the hook ups except the sewer was hidden in large evergreen bushes, with the sewer connection 10' forward of them. A very narrow site, we could not use our awning. The camp store is small. The staff is nice. The bathhouse/showers were ok. One had no TP, no handles on the sink to use the water, and no power. At least there was hot water. The other shower did not work at all. But the lights in that one did. We will not be going back. - stormer41

Dec 2016 - $13.00
This was a return visit. We have stayed here often when visiting family in the area. Vastly improved this year was the entrance process at the main gate. As a retiree, I only had to show my ID and my wife's driver's license. Last year I had to jump through registration hoops and then the guards never pulled up the right list so had to go through it each time I came on post. However, still needing improvement are the utilities!! Water can be problematic--low pressure at times, poor taste, and one stanchion for every two RV. That means you may need a long hose to reach the opposite side of the camper. Electric outlets don't all have a breaker when connecting. Sewers seem to be at the middle to front end of the site, so may need extension hose to dump. Still, it is a great value and the restrooms are immaculate. One night we were treated to night artillery practice and we enjoyed hearing the helos practicing landings...."Sound of Freedom." - Too-wow
Aug 2014 - $12.00
Rate reflects Senior discount from NPS. This place has improved since our last visit. It is in a good location, has easy access, each site is roomy, and comes with table. Check in is "easy" but first go to the office, then they have you pick a site, return to MWR, sign up, then go hookup. Lot's of back and forth. We found a good site close to bath house and were able to pick up WiFi in coach. If we were further away, not sure it would have worked. However, the utilities are still messed up, with a need to share water stanchions, and sewers not always placed conveniently. In addition, they seem to be (according to other campers) always working on water issues and so the quality is questionable. We resorted to bottled water. And when we dumped at our site prior to leaving, we realized the sewer lines were backed up. Told by another camper that this happens every other month or so. So if you can do without WiFi, cable, have long water hoses and two-fers, and are willing to chance the water and sewer, it's not a bad place. But clearly, they need to put some money into the infrastructure. - Too-wow
Mar 2010 - $21.00
This is a MILITARY campground on Fort AP Hill, available to military and civilians working for Dept of Defense. It is not difficult to get on and use the park, if you are authorized. Getting a full hook-up site at Champs is almost impossible with all the contractors and civilian employees taking up many of the "good" sites. Plus, they've got 4 of the 30 amp sites tied up with rental trailers. The camp host couple both work on A.P. Hill. The utilities are misplaced and not effectively utilized. Despite all this, the location is excellent. We used it for a shake-down at the start of spring and to help friends who had just purchased an RV (retired military) learn how to set up and use the RV. It is probably not a destination site, unless you want to hunt in the fall or do some fishing. Some LONG term seasonals (over a year!) are taking up the 50amp sites, so your choices are limited. - Too-wow
