Again, our campground of choice on our first night heading south. Great staff. Physical improvements being made each year. Only issues is that is getting a bit pricey. We camped at Americamps RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:
Traveling full-time in a 38-foot coach we stayed 3-nights in a site for big rigs (site # F29). Pd $68 night. This is a nice park with level gravel sites, but we're giving it a poor rating (1-Star) because they ignored our complaints about the wifi. We had planned to stay longer, but after three days of complaining to the office about having no wifi, we're leaving. We really would have appreciated a follow-up call, but we never heard anything. Every day we'd call about the wifi and the office personnel would tell us a different story. When we complained on the third day, we were told the Owner had attempted to fix the wifi the day before, but it was still down. Unfortunately, we require wifi wherever we stay, which is why we make it a point to always verify if the park sites have a wifi signal before making reservations and this park had assured us there was a good wifi signal at each site. We could not get on the WIFI to check the weather or even our email. For some users such as ourselves, wifi is an important feature and was one of the reasons we decided to stay here. Needless to say, we're disappointed. We camped at Americamps RV Resort in a Motorhome.

This campground was absolutely FANTASTIC!!! The grounds and equipment are in good repair. The restrooms are clean and maintained with all the necessities. We were assigned a site close to the restroom as per our request. The site was clean; the gravel bed was level. Additionally, there was ample room to park our Jeep so it did not block the roadway. On Thanksgiving, the park provided us with a genuine Thanksgiving Dinner that was excellent in all respects. The staff was friendly and most attentive to our needs, to include helping us find out why our camper did not have heat during the cold nights and also to provide us with suggestions for things to do for the weekend after Thanksgiving. On Sunday morning, they fed us waffles, which tasted GREAT... We plan to stay at this campground the next time we visit the Ashland/Richmond area. We highly recommend a visit to the Americamps RV Park in Ashland, VA for a very pleasant experience. We camped at Americamps RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Perfect for overnight stay while traveling 95. Much better than the 3 letter campgrounds in the area which where $30 more for a overnight stay. The sites were all clean stone and perfectly level. Just pulled in plugged in and put stabilizers down. The plant and flowers around the campground were beautiful and the place is well taken care of. Wish we go there to use the pool which was nice and brand new but it closed at 8pm. Also wish we stayed for the free 8am waffle breakfast but we rolled out at 6am. Will definitely be staying here again when traveling through Richmond. May even use for NASCAR race as they have bus shuttles to and from track on race weekend. We've stayed here on our first night out and last night before going home when travel to and from the south. We were pleasantly surprised by the many improvements ... similar to those which we saw at their "sister" campground in Wade< NC where we stayed the previous night. Staff always friendly and efficient. Site clean. Easy access off I-95. Interestingly, in the many times we've stayed here, we never noticed any aircraft noise. However, we did hear planes and then discovered there was a municipal airport just a couple of hundred yards from the campground ... but not an issue. Recommended and we will be staying here again when heading to Florida in January! We camped at Americamps RV Resort in a Motorhome.

At check-in we got the idea there was some friction between management and some of the long-term residents. Besides the pages of improperly-collated, repeated rules, we got read many of them and sternly told "this is a resort not a trailer park." When we parked we saw why, since our neighbor had been there for years and was bending many of the rules on the list. They were friendly enough, and when the yippy dogs weren't barking we hardly knew they were there. The site was nice, and we really appreciated the shade. It was almost perfectly level without using blocks or the jacks. Employees picked up trash from right outside the RV several times a day. We occasionally heard noise from the interstate, but not too much. The CG is on downwind for Hanover County Airport, and we enjoyed having small planes fly over when the weather was good. We never made it to the free breakfasts, meals or ice cream social, but that's a neat touch. The new pool opened in time for July 4th. It's a little unusual in that it's shallow on both ends and 4' in the middle, but it was great for kids! The people were friendly, and we enjoyed borrowing books from the lending library. We used this as a base to explore Richmond, as well as Williamsburg, Jamestown, DC, Skyline Drive and Appomattox. Some of those were a bit far, but overall we're quite pleased with our stay and wouldn't hesitate to return. Our rate reflects the monthly rate; electricity was additional and came to about $150/month. We camped at Americamps RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Stayed for one night en route to Florida. We got in later than planned and it was a long drive. Fortunately there is a brewery right next door! The park was very clean and well maintained. Some freeway noise but not bad at all. Easy access from I-95. Just a great place to stop. We camped at Americamps RV Resort in a Motorhome.

This was our third stay here and we love this campground. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Our original spot was a bit too small for our rig so they moved us the next day without a complaint. It is close to the freeway but we never heard any noise except an occasional emergency vehicle. They opened the new pool while we were there with a nice celebration (free stuff!) Every morning except Thursday is free waffles, Sunday night free ice cream sundaes and a dinner on Thursday. Very clean. There aren't many RV parks near Richmond and this is convenient yet not "in town" - about an hour from Williamsburg. A lot to see! We camped at Americamps RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Reserved a spot for one night while having repairs done just up the road. One turned into two, which turned into three. Were having AC problems. When I mentioned that they made sure to put me under the trees in the shade. (Temps were running into the 90's) They offered waffle breakfast each morning (all weekday) and one night had a BBQ dinner for the guest. Overall I was very impressed with the facilities and the people, made a bad trip much better. (also doesn't hurt, there is a brewery right across the street) We camped at Americamps RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Good place to stay if visiting Richmond area. Convenient to I-95. Noise from I-95 noticeable outside RV but not inside. Park has wide mostly paved roads and long level spacious gravel pull through and back in pads. Gravel roads/pads had minimal dirt so very little dust when driving through. Grass areas between sides are spacious and bordered by railroad ties. There is a concrete pad for picnic table and a fire ring. The park has many mature trees for shade. We asked for and were assigned one of the few sites that could get satellite access. Cable is available. The pool was under renovation. They had a few inflatable slides for kids. They offer daily free waffle breakfast. There is a fitness center and an enclosed doggie park. Trash its packed up at your site daily. WiFi is very good - we could stream Netflix. Haven't stayed here in years and what an improvement! Owners have really turned this park around. Very nice facility and staff. New pool almost finished. Sites were great. Highway noise may bother some...we barely noticed it. Free waffles most mornings; dinner on Thursdays; ice cream on Sundays. Memorial Day they had free food trucks and Sweet Frog ice cream. We will visit here a lot because of daughter's new house nearby. No negative items at all. We camped at Americamps RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Stayed 2 nights during Memorial weekend in our Class A, 45' motorhome with tow in a pull through site. Friendly staff, convenient on/off highway, lots of activities for kids & the pancake breakfast is nice. Pool under construction. Park was crowded as expected & bathhouses should have been cleaned daily. Gravel was almost non-existent on our site which was mostly dirt. Other sites had newer compacted gravel. We unhitched at check in to make maneuvering thru the park easier & had no problem. Shade trees are nice, but we were unable to use satellite. Other hook ups were fine. Easy walk to a craft brewery which had live music during the weekend. We camped at Americamps RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Nearby Ashland is a cute old railroad town with some shops and a couple of restaurants. We ate at the Trackside Grill which was very good. Try the Bloody Mary! The "Center of the Universe" craft brewery is right across the street. We didn't particularly care for the (stark) atmosphere or beer itself, but you may.

Be sure to visit Fredericksburg which is about 30 minutes north of Ashland. I only allotted one day which wasn't nearly enough. There is so much history there (both Civil War and Colonial) it just oozes it! Most of the historic homes and buildings are either free or for a nominal fee. Also, all the parking is free! The old downtown is charming. I saw (among other things) George Washington's mother's house and his sister's mansion (gorgeous ceilings).
