We LOVE Pocahontas State Park! Lucky to have it fairly close to home. The sites are large, there are plenty of trails to hike and bike on, and the park rangers are very friendly and knowledgeable. The water park is fun, the fishing is entertaining, and the water is easy to explore in a kayak, canoe, or small boat. Lots of play areas for kids and very family friendly atmosphere. Pocahontas sets a high standard that’s hard for other parks to live up to! - VexedUnicorn

This is our first visit to Virginia state parks and we were very surprised how nice the park is. Check is was easy except you must complete a one page form even though you have a reservation. Take the form to the gift shop and you receive your paper work for your site. We were in site 02 which was not level. Sites from 01 to 64 are the old park which most are not level and are full shade. Next time we return we will try to camp in the new section, sites 65 to 125 which most appear level and have partial shade. T-mobile was about two bars so reception okay. The park also has a good selection of walk up sites so there is a good chance to pick up a site on the weekend. The laundry has all new machines, washers are $1.00 a load. They are clean with a good size folding table. We camped for five days. - Nautilus

Great place to stay near Richmond, VA. It's just off the interstate (yes you can hear noise for it) and easy to get to. The sites are very level and everything is maintained well. The waffle breakfasts area treat and the showers are clean and hot. - HaRV the Traveller
Aug 2019 - $54.00
A nice place to stay for a stopover or for an extended stay. lots to do in the area, with fuel and food places nearby. Just across I 95 is a Camping World store which on two occasions came to our rescue as we needed parts for the camper. Also a Dunkin Donut nearby, always a good cup of coffee before hitting the road. - delacamper

Very large park just north of Richmond and convenient to I-95. Many shaded sites - we had a back-in which was mostly level and spacious. Roads are a little tight, but not too tight. Free waffle breakfast on Sun morning was good. There is a local brewery just around the corner which was hopping on a Fri night in Aug. - Ribbet

Strange park. No management around. Fin d a spot, fill out a form, drop into slot in wall. Close to Richmond. Adjacent to older mobile home park. - User3119
Jun 2017 - $36.00
We spent 1 night here on our travels North. Easy to find off I-95, quick registration, and we had a f/h, wide pull-through site. Utilities worked well including WIFI. Feel it was a great deal for an over-night or short-term stay to see things around Richmond; not "fancy" but plenty of room between coaches. Some seasonals & permanents parked further back. We were here in a 40' Class A. - Steve & Linda
Apr 2017 - $40.00
We have stayed here in the past. It is adequate for our needs but if I had children we would not stay here; no amenities. Finding a campground in the Richmond area is no easy task. - Aqua Lady

This park caters to seasonal or permanent RVs. The only sites for "weekenders" has no shade at all. The office is not handicapped accessible at all. The campground personnel are very friendly and very good to work with. It could be a great destination RV park with a little more work. - BCFB Bob S
Jun 2019 - $38.00
As stated in previous reviews our site was a long pull through and very sloped. These asphalt pull throughs seem to be assigned to folks like us that are passing through. There were many unpaved sites with long term rigs. - PRG
Jun 2019 - $38.00
Really long pull throughs. Too bad I can't level my Phaeton without tons of blocks. Might have been able to level at rear of site but electric cord wouldn't reach that far. - Robert B from San Antonio
