This campground is a great location in Fairfax County and fairly close to DC. Sites are spacious and wooded with a great set up for hook ups. Yes, there is some noise from the shooting range but it was not overly annoying. No noticeable road noise from I-66 and the water park, Atlantis, is a bargain at $4.00 to get in. We will definitely stay here again. We camped at Bull Run Regional Park in a Fifth Wheel.

This park underwhelmed me. If I had known the park had an on-site shooting range RIGHT NEXT to the Campground, I never would have considered staying here. I have no problems with firearms, but what an audible nuisance! Site wasn't even close to level, and within 2 hours of arrival the entire power to campground went down, on a nice hot July afternoon. Things happen, but the office must have taken the phone off the hook as I couldn't get an update on power situation, and park staff weren't easy to find. Obviously no WiFi or cable here, but way overpriced for what you get. We camped at Bull Run Regional Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

There’s a huge shopping area about 10 minutes away with about a dozen different restaurants/take out places. The ones we tried were delicious! Close to Washington DC and up the street from Manasses/Bull Run Battlefield. There’s a small water park on the premises.

We have stayed at this park in the past and they have made some upgrades. Most notable is the packed, level gravel. Last time we were here we had to level one side up nearly a foot. This time we did not have to connect. This campground is unique in that almost every site is a pull through, thanks to a unique design with the campground shaped like a football and all sites are on the side of this shape. Because of this it is easy in and easy out. Our site was shaded and a lovely trail ran behind us, perfect for taking a walk with the dogs. Bathrooms are clean and showers are individual rooms. Our site was only electric and water, so price was steep for just that. You need to stay for 2 nights minimum for FHU sites and we were here for only one night. In spite of the rain we had, our site remained well drained. We camped at Bull Run Regional Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Date of Stay: April, 2019 - $48.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed two weeks in a 40 foot fifth wheel. This is our fourth stay here and we simply love almost everything about this park. Let's get the almost out of the way...we hate the shotgun range that is on the back side of the park. It seems a shame to have such a beautiful location for camping marred by full days of shotguns going off. Makes it difficult to enjoy sitting outside to watch the flora and fauna. You would be well served to call ahead of time for reservations to be sure you pick a site that will accommodate your rig and connections. Most sites on the full hookup road are pull thru along the road but your connections may be on the wrong side or behind your rig as is the case with site 123. We have been here twice in spring for bluebells and my what a beautiful trail this is. It is such a joy to watch the spring awakening. Also, all three of our bird feeders have visitors all day long. In the fall, you can find PaPas on the same trail. The White Trail is great for an evening stroll and we usually see deer along this trail and even on the back road of the campground. The Water Park is open in the summer. Access roads in the park are fine but they have a few potholes to work on. Do not let your GPS take you in the back way via the special events/shooting center unless the main entrance is flooded. The campground is higher and doesn't "usually" flood. Make sure you have plenty of water, sewer, and electric. Make sure you have appropriate hiking shoes, this is a forest flood plane and it is wet. Visit DC via the Fairfax Vienna metro just 14 miles (45 minutes) away. We camped at Bull Run Regional Park in a Fifth Wheel.

We stayed here as a jump off to see DC with a friend. Ur site was fairly level, with minor work we were good. The space was very large and was very quiet at night. Water pressure a okay, but did not need a reducer. We would stay here again. We camped at Bull Run Regional Park in a Travel Trailer.

Very close to DC and once you are in the park, you still must drive about 1 1/2 mile to get to the campground. Way off the beaten path.

Long drive into park and campground. Parking space by office to check in for RV's is pretty much non existent. There are no markings on main road to designate which site numbers were down which road. We were instructed to count the roads. Some of the sites appear level ours is not. This is the first time I've seen a campground where the RV camping is horizontal to the road. Hookups are next to road. Site is gravel and there is a picnic table. Site is heavily wooded with oak trees which are raining down acorns on our RV, hopefully no damage. Would not come back. We camped at Bull Run Regional Park in a Motorhome.

Great place to visit the Manses Battlefields and the Washington, DC area. The camp sight was clean and level. It was a pull thru sight, right along the road through the camping area of the park. It rained the 4 days we were there, but there was no standing water in any of the sights I saw. It was quiet and peaceful, with a wooded area all around. A great place to stay. If you live in the city and want to pretend to camp with the kids or the grand kids this is your place. If your looking for something other than that it is not the greatest. I stayed here while visiting the DC area and found the following . Not enough sights with power/water/ sewer Millions of kids who came to camp/ and go to the waterpark attached to the campground. Also Kids of all ages that did not know how to build a campfire thus, smoky campground day and night. Creek/ river flows thru the park and there are many wet areas therefore a lot of bugs and mosquitoes. Location is not that great to access the city or any stores etc. We camped at Bull Run Regional Park in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

Sites range from primitive on up to full hook-up. My $35/ni price was for electric/30 amp. Potable water available at nice, large dump station across from office. Roads (asphalt) and grounds kept in good condition. Sites gravel and/or dirt, with some needing more effort to level in than others. Most sites have at least some shade and many are deeply shaded. Size of sites varies widely, but there are many that will accommodate large rigs, including lots of pull-through sites--not necessarily easy to find close to the DC metropolitan area. Two shower houses, both fairly clean, and both with laundry facilities. Verizon signal good. Over-the-air TV antenna should have brought in lots of channels this close to "civilization," but for some reason I had lots of interference and barely got a few channels. We camped at Bull Run Regional Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Huge park that has a waterpark walking distance from campground, a nice playground next to the campground office, lots of area for bike riding, disc golf, and a couple of walking trails. One woodland trail is 17 miles long and goes through the Bull Run/Occoquan watershed. If possible, time your out-of-campground excursions far from morning and evening rush hours, since this park is surrounded by high-density D.C suburbs (Manassas and Centreville).

Easy roads to get in, wide and paved site parking was the easy pull through right off the road. Site was big, private and wooded. Big park with a water park not far from the sites but far enough not to be disturbing. Fire pit and grill in site well maintained. 15 minutes from the train to go into Washington DC for some site seeing. Great place, can't wait to go back. Good location for visiting Bull Run National Battleground. Lots of shady trees. We arrived on Thursday, and the restrooms were not cleaned until Sunday. Even then, they were only marginally clean. Shooting range on site is very noisy. Get a site near the office to get as far from the range as possible. Wi-Fi available at office. Picnic tables next to office is the best place to get Wi-Fi signal, as the router is on the back of the building. We camped at Bull Run Regional Park in a Motorhome.

Beautiful park. Rangers were very nice and enjoyed sharing information about their park and things to do. We called ahead to ask for a level easy hookup site after reading reviews that some sites can be challenging. The person I spoke with was very accommodating. Spacing of sites was great. Lots of natural areas and trails. We were informed we were there for the peak of the Bluebells and they were spectacular! We were not there to visit DC but I understand it is a good location for visiting the Capital. We camped at Bull Run Regional Park in a Travel Trailer.
