Overall Rating:

We stayed two weeks in a 40 foot fifth wheel. This is our fourth stay here and we simply love almost everything about this park. Let's get the almost out of the way...we hate the shotgun range that is on the back side of the park. It seems a shame to have such a beautiful location for camping marred by full days of shotguns going off. Makes it difficult to enjoy sitting outside to watch the flora and fauna. You would be well served to call ahead of time for reservations to be sure you pick a site that will accommodate your rig and connections. Most sites on the full hookup road are pull thru along the road but your connections may be on the wrong side or behind your rig as is the case with site 123. We have been here twice in spring for bluebells and my what a beautiful trail this is. It is such a joy to watch the spring awakening. Also, all three of our bird feeders have visitors all day long. In the fall, you can find PaPas on the same trail. The White Trail is great for an evening stroll and we usually see deer along this trail and even on the back road of the campground. The Water Park is open in the summer. Access roads in the park are fine but they have a few potholes to work on. Do not let your GPS take you in the back way via the special events/shooting center unless the main entrance is flooded. The campground is higher and doesn't "usually" flood. Make sure you have plenty of water, sewer, and electric. Make sure you have appropriate hiking shoes, this is a forest flood plane and it is wet. Visit DC via the Fairfax Vienna metro just 14 miles (45 minutes) away. We camped at Bull Run Regional Park in a Fifth Wheel.

The stay wasn’t horrible. Easy in and easy out. The only real negative thing that we experienced were the constant gunshots from the shooting range. We camped at Bull Run Regional Park in a Travel Trailer.

We stayed here as a jump off to see DC with a friend. Ur site was fairly level, with minor work we were good. The space was very large and was very quiet at night. Water pressure a okay, but did not need a reducer. We would stay here again. We camped at Bull Run Regional Park in a Travel Trailer.

Very close to DC and once you are in the park, you still must drive about 1 1/2 mile to get to the campground. Way off the beaten path.

Long drive into park and campground. Parking space by office to check in for RV's is pretty much non existent. There are no markings on main road to designate which site numbers were down which road. We were instructed to count the roads. Some of the sites appear level ours is not. This is the first time I've seen a campground where the RV camping is horizontal to the road. Hookups are next to road. Site is gravel and there is a picnic table. Site is heavily wooded with oak trees which are raining down acorns on our RV, hopefully no damage. Would not come back. We camped at Bull Run Regional Park in a Motorhome.

Great place to visit the Manses Battlefields and the Washington, DC area. The camp sight was clean and level. It was a pull thru sight, right along the road through the camping area of the park. It rained the 4 days we were there, but there was no standing water in any of the sights I saw. It was quiet and peaceful, with a wooded area all around. A great place to stay. We camped at Bull Run Regional Park in a Travel Trailer.

If you live in the city and want to pretend to camp with the kids or the grand kids this is your place. If your looking for something other than that it is not the greatest. I stayed here while visiting the DC area and found the following . Not enough sights with power/water/ sewer Millions of kids who came to camp/ and go to the waterpark attached to the campground. Also Kids of all ages that did not know how to build a campfire thus, smoky campground day and night. Creek/ river flows thru the park and there are many wet areas therefore a lot of bugs and mosquitoes. Location is not that great to access the city or any stores etc. We camped at Bull Run Regional Park in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

Sites range from primitive on up to full hook-up. My $35/ni price was for electric/30 amp. Potable water available at nice, large dump station across from office. Roads (asphalt) and grounds kept in good condition. Sites gravel and/or dirt, with some needing more effort to level in than others. Most sites have at least some shade and many are deeply shaded. Size of sites varies widely, but there are many that will accommodate large rigs, including lots of pull-through sites--not necessarily easy to find close to the DC metropolitan area. Two shower houses, both fairly clean, and both with laundry facilities. Verizon signal good. Over-the-air TV antenna should have brought in lots of channels this close to "civilization," but for some reason I had lots of interference and barely got a few channels. We camped at Bull Run Regional Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Huge park that has a waterpark walking distance from campground, a nice playground next to the campground office, lots of area for bike riding, disc golf, and a couple of walking trails. One woodland trail is 17 miles long and goes through the Bull Run/Occoquan watershed. If possible, time your out-of-campground excursions far from morning and evening rush hours, since this park is surrounded by high-density D.C suburbs (Manassas and Centreville).

Easy roads to get in, wide and paved site parking was the easy pull through right off the road. Site was big, private and wooded. Big park with a water park not far from the sites but far enough not to be disturbing. Fire pit and grill in site well maintained. 15 minutes from the train to go into Washington DC for some site seeing. Great place, can't wait to go back. Good location for visiting Bull Run National Battleground. Lots of shady trees. We arrived on Thursday, and the restrooms were not cleaned until Sunday. Even then, they were only marginally clean. Shooting range on site is very noisy. Get a site near the office to get as far from the range as possible. Wi-Fi available at office. Picnic tables next to office is the best place to get Wi-Fi signal, as the router is on the back of the building. We camped at Bull Run Regional Park in a Motorhome.

Beautiful park. Rangers were very nice and enjoyed sharing information about their park and things to do. We called ahead to ask for a level easy hookup site after reading reviews that some sites can be challenging. The person I spoke with was very accommodating. Spacing of sites was great. Lots of natural areas and trails. We were informed we were there for the peak of the Bluebells and they were spectacular! We were not there to visit DC but I understand it is a good location for visiting the Capital. We camped at Bull Run Regional Park in a Travel Trailer.

Not all the sites are level. Recently added new gravel to most sites. Staff is awesome, helpful and friendly. Online reservation system has good diagrams of the hookups. Some are a little awkward. AT&T cell coverage is good in the area. Verizon data provided 13.4Mbps down and 3.3Mbps up. Noise from shooting range can be a little annoying during the day. Get a spot closer to office to be farther from range. We camped at Bull Run Regional Park in a Motorhome.

The sites in this park are not equal. Some are short, some have the electric boxes on the wrong side, some have rock on the ground where there is no grass. Our site was long enough and the water & electric were in the right place, but we did not have grass and there was no rock. Since it was rainy while we were there, this was really not good. We couldn't let the dog be outside and when we walked her, we all tracked mud back into the camper. I recommend that you check out your site thoroughly before reserving. If you get the right site, this park could be great. Noise from the gun range was rather annoying. It was non-stop all day, every day. Because the area is heavily wooded, we were unable to get Dish TV, but our Verizon MiFi worked well, as did our AT&T phones. We camped at Bull Run Regional Park in a Fifth Wheel.

This is a heavily used community park. The road to get to the park is narrow and has an unusual tight 10-mph turn off of Bull Run Post Office Road. The sites are inconsistent as far as levelness and have unusual hook-up arrangements. At our site the electric hook-up was on the wrong side and in a very odd location relative to the actual parking area. Our site was listed as a pull-through, but it was really just a pull-off adjacent to the road with some leveling issues. We camped at Bull Run Regional Park in a Travel Trailer.

Overall Rating:

This campground has been a local "go-to" for us over the last few years of camping from our earlier days as tent campers through to the current travel trailer we now use. Do heed the cautions of other reviewers that not all sites are created equally, if you have specific requirements (i.e. power pole location, space for awnings)... ask the office. We have gone through the park and rated each spot for ourselves to determine which ones will accommodate our trailer. (Location of utilities, trees in the way, size of the spot, parking availability, etc.) It really comes in handy on future reservations as the online system doesn't really describe these limitations. We have experienced the staff here to be approachable, friendly, and extremely courteous. Check in after 1pm / Check out is 11am. Late checkout-$10 (if available) is 7pm. One can only request late checkout on morning of the last day after the staff verifies that the spot is not reserved online for that afternoon. (Note: This is a change in policy that used to allow for prepaying for late checkout at check-in time.) The trap/skeet range is active daily and is usually a bit louder on the "tent-only" side of the park. It is not unbearable, and only occurs during the daytime hours but worth mentioning if you are not used to hearing shotguns firing. This park has camping "hosts" that are staying right along with you. These hosts do a terrific job of clearing the sites that have been vacated in preparation for the next visitor. I've seen them rake back the leaves from the "living" area, thoroughly clean the BBQ grills, and ensure that no trace of trash is left behind for another guest to have to deal with. They are also really friendly to chat with and discover their "story". When we were using the shower/bathrooms in our tent days, we found them to be relatively clean. Two dump stations are available free for use if you are staying the night. We camped at Bull Run Regional Park in a Travel Trailer.

A quick 15-20min trip to Manassas takes care of any shopping needs that may arise. "Camping World" just took over the old Reines RV in Manassas and has a fully stocked parts/accessory store for those "special, RV" type needs.
