22 RV Parks near Elk Creek, Virginia
Oct 2016 - $24.00
We stayed 5 nights in our 30' TT. We arrived as Hurricane Mathew was hitting NC. Campground is right beside New River T NC/VA boarder. Drive is a steep but short single car entrance. Office on right, you need to pull past it and turn right to park to check in. We were meet as we got out of care by owner or manager. Checking was quick, we had our choice of re sites because only few camper. It was rainy an owner advised backing in due to wet ground. Larger sites are in front of bathhouse, 30 yard from river. Sites have gravel pad but larger campers may have problems with tow vehicles having space. We used empty space beside us to park. Site do slope towards river and my require extra blocks in front.
Water and power only. Dump site near permit sites, may require some wait during busy times. Power was 30 amps and was stable. Water pressure fine. Tables and fire pits- no grills. Bath house is rustic but has instant hot water so does not run out. Lots are 50/50 shaded.
No wifi but Version was 2 bars LTE or 3G. Did not really check out store. They do have 4 primitive cabins to rent
After 1st night there were only 1-2 campers in campgrounds. It is a good base camp for day trips to Boone, West Jefferson, Galax...
I could see this place rocking hard in summer with younger folks rafting. I would not cal this a "Glamping" place but will come back again. - mj1angier
Sep 2013 - $26.00
Beautiful river and mountain views. Showers were clean, and so was the porta potti. However it states "No Alcohol" and in fact it was allowed, numerous campers partying, drinking and being very loud in to the early morning hours. If its a good night sleeps you need, then look elsewhere. It also states "no pets under 15 lbs" when in fact there were dogs there over that limit. While the tent sites were nice and large, We found the campground not very family friendly, and poorly managed. We drove from Florida, over 500 miles, and will not stay there again. - crazyjag
Jun 2013 - $22.00
What a joke, they have a dog policy. No dogs over 15lbs allowed. We found that out when we got there, and soon after left. Noisy whining kids and obnoxious partying and these people are worried about dogs? The staff was friendly enough but behind it was the veil of gestapo with rules for this and that. Also the staff rides around a lot on golf carts making the place noisy. It's hard to list all the things we didn't like about this park. It ranks amongst our worst. This is more of a local hangout than a serious campground. - viper-2

We have been traveling for 2 years and this is my favorite RV Park. Situated near small town of Fries and New River State Park. Nestled into valley between mountains. Very natural. Gurgling brook at most sites. Very clean and comfortable. Small RV park. No cell phone service but easy WIFI hook up and owner shows how to use WIFI for cell service. Close to larger town of Galax. 50+ miles of trails. Must use wifi for cell service. Excellent wifi and cable. Cheaper winter rates. Walk the trails. Go into town of Galax. Park owner has excellent recommendations for Italian and Burger. Hillsville is 20 miles away. Many small towns to visit. - destination

The best hosts ever. You're greeted with warm muffins and very gracious welcome. Been going there for 4 years. Our camping group goes here as well. - Ifitspecs4u
Aug 2018 - $40.00
Price listed includes tax, cable TV and WiFi. This is our third year coming in late August. This is one of our all time favorite places to stay. Clean, quite and friendly owners. About a block from New River which offers a great bike trail, kayaking, etc. Lots of events in area. Nice ice cream shop in town at the old train koboose. Nestled down in a little cove between two hills covered in tall trees so you have cooler temperatures and a smalll stream runs along side most the sites. - Dolan Brown
Jul 2018 - $11.00
Outstanding stay. Camp hosts were very friendly and offered some sites to see. The nearby town was close and neat. - AndyT
Jun 2017 - $15.00
Small but very pretty park about 15 mi from Interstate and conveniences. Paved sites that back up to trees, although some are close to roadway. You may hear some traffic noises early in the morning but didn't bother us. About half of the sites seem to be water/electric and rest are rustic. Bath houses but no showers, modest but clean. Cell reception is nonexistent. No cable TV but we saw some satellite dishes. No WiFi either, although description says there is. We contacted Forest Service who said the RV sites are reserved by going to Reserve America and some of the rustic sites are on there too, I think. Rest are first-come basis. If you don't have a reservation you can check with the camp host. No guarantees, but when we were there it was not completely full. Says big rigs not suitable, but I would add that any rig over the 35 ft range would have issues. All sites are back-in. They do have a separate driveway for your vehicle, however. It is a very quiet, peaceful place with a pretty creek running alongside and some trails running through it. No fancy stuff, just a back to nature kind of place. - Carolina Travelers
Oct 2016 - $11.00
The park is small, quiet, clean, and well laid out. Nicely shaded with easy access to towns, highways, attractions. A famous hiking trail is accessible directly from the campground. The camp host is very helpful and knowledgeable; he is also very watchful, in a quiet, non-intrusive way. I stayed about 10 days...hated to leave. Oh! There is NO TV or cell reception, but has great Internet! I can't wait to return. The camp host helps pick the best site for you & your rig. They are not all level, but very manageable. - Linda 2

This campground is located in a beautiful pristine area of NC, on the New River. It is a vacation place, not for passers-by. One needs to stay and decompress for a few days. The campground is grassy, shaded by tall trees, with sufficient space between sites. Occasional wildlife, such as deer jumping in the water, can be seen. It is overall very peaceful. The owner and staff are very helpful and accommodating. There is a store as well as the possibility to go for tubing or other river activities, with available equipment. We stayed in a class A motorhome for 3 weeks, left for one and came back for another 3 weeks. We appreciated that they gave us the site that we had and liked the first time. Even though it wasn't a shaded site, the climate is so mild that we had to cover at night. It was so nice we didn't want to leave ! PA rates for 5 days / week (the nightly rate above), long term. OK bathhouse, no laundry facility, reasonable wifi & verizon. - AandWK
May 2016 - $23.00
Campground is in a beautiful setting right on the New River. The pull-through sites are grass with some holes and lumps in the site. It didn't take much effort to move slightly to find a level spot. The back-in sites are grass and gravel. The utilities are good. We arrived just after they opened for the season so things were still in progress.
Campground is close to Jefferson NC for shopping and Lowes. We arrived from the Blue Ridge Pkwy.
Showers were installed well but hadn't been cleaned as yet.
Kayak rentals are available for river use. WiFi is good, no AT&T service. - Nautilus
Jul 2015 - $28.00
Nice quite location. Road through park needs to be graded as there are a few large pot holes. Also, wifi service is very spotty. Manager was very accommodating and helpful. - Shook
May 2019 - $36.00
Second time staying here and was not disappointed. Grounds are well kept. Pull thru site on a Memorial day weekend. Excellent hook ups. Very clean and quiet. Used it as a base camp to visit Grayson Highlands State Park ( 1 hour away) and to do the Virginia Creeper-17 mile bike ride (1 .5 hour away). Also visited the thrift/consignment shop in Galax and picked up a few bargains! Love this area. - n2camping
Jul 2018 - $35.00
Friendly helpful owners, but none of the sites have a fire ring, picnic table or any trees/shade. - Gapch1024
Jul 2018 - $38.00
Would have rated it a 10-but the hubby really needs his sports channels-no cable tv-reception with antenna. Needs things for kids to do-didn't see many children around. Very quiet and clean. Definitely has a breeze going on in this CG. Recommend awnings be tied down. Would be really nice if the Resort next door would share that golf course with this CG. Hubby was a little disappointed about that. The map showed a golf course next to this CG. Matter of fact, never seen anyone from the other resort using it. Hookups are approx. 2-3 feet from each other-recommend extra sewer/water/ and electric hook up. Sites are gravel with minimal leveling required. Stayed in pull thru behind office. Site long enough for tow dolly/Class C/ Kia with extra room. Well spaced from neighbors. Owner has daytrip information with directions-found that to be a nice touch. Nice CG. - n2camping

This park is a resort with lots for sale and we stayed there as a prospective buyer. - Lynne Dollar
