Overall Rating:

Review is based on commercial camping style and not being compared to state forest. Grounds and buildings well maintained and manicured. Recently remodeled bathhouses, although on crowded weekends, could use more bathhouses and restrooms. Since my last visit here, they've added a water park with three additional pools (including baby pool for a total of four) water slides, and splash park. The design is very nice and inviting. On weekends, it can be tough to find seating within the water park. Also added are several rows of cabins. The campground is large for a Jellystone and we were glad we rented a golf cart. They are everywhere here due to the distance of activities from most sites. With the miniature gold, laser tag, water park, activities, arcade, several playgrounds, volley ball, Gaga ball, and basket ball courts as well as planned activities, this really is a destination campground. Be warned it is a favorite for weekends and is full or near full. The advertisements and planning sheet given to us for amenities operations and schedules show water slides and snack cafe open daily. However, this is not the case. When we asked Thursday afternoon about the slides, we were told they would only be open on the weekend. Friday at lunch time, we checked out getting a meal at the cafe and were told it would not open until 4 pm (it was not open the day before and was supposed to open at 11). We had thought about returning during middle of the week later in summer, but if attractions aren't open unless it's a weekend, we probably won't. The planned activities were great and most of the staff were courteous. Our site was OK. Definitely in a more active area. Should we return, we would ask for a different site. We found a quieter, more woodsy section that is more our style. The views here are beautiful and even though it was crowded, the pools and water slides were kept clean and lines for the slide kept moving at a good pace. We camped at Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park at Luray in a Travel Trailer.

While expensive, we found the campground to be nice and clean. Lots of improvements since we'd been here 10 years ago. Most of the premium sites are concrete pads. Good power and water. Numerous cabins. We found some of the water & electric sites on the side of the hill to be muddy from rain run-off. Still remains a great place for families with kids. We were never able to connect to the campground's WiFi and Verizon Wireless spotty and generally unusable for talk or data. We camped at Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park at Luray in a Fifth Wheel.

This is a huge, super clean, family focused RV resort with many, many nicely maintained cabin units. Most of the campground is on a slope, overlooking the water park and other activities below and near the office. The campsites have been terraced so that your rig is on a level area. The utilities are convenient. Check in is very fast and professional. The entire process has been put in place to handle droves of guests. We were there mid-week. The end of the week, many families arrived to decorate for Halloween. It is a very big deal at this park, and families reserve 12 months in advance to get spots near their friends. That said, they were very friendly and welcoming to us. We did not stay for the trick or treat fest that was to come. We camped at Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park at Luray in a Motorhome.

Check-in was fast and efficient. We were in one of their premium sites, concrete pull-through and patio. FHU with analog cable. WiFi was only available at the office, we were in site #11 and did not have a signal. Verizon coverage was present but the data was very slow due to the number of users. Our grandson loved the water park and mini golf. The restrooms at the water park are woefully inadequate for the number of users. We camped at Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park at Luray in a Fifth Wheel.

This campground is super crowded and it seems more like a golf cart race track. They close the water slides at 6pm and pools at 7pm, leaving little for kids to do afterwards. We stayed at site 204 and constantly had people who were staying in the sites behind us cutting through our campsite. I have no intentions of returning to this campground, over the past few years they have added way to many sites and cabins and don't have the amenities to support the amount of campers. New water slides were fun but not worth waiting 8 to 10 minutes in line each time. We camped at Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park at Luray in a Travel Trailer.

This campground is a kid's paradise. Two playgrounds, swimming pools, water slides, mini golf, theatre and activity room. Negative is the office. You need to ask questions to get the site you need. You need about 50ft of cable if you want cable TV, and cable is only available in a full service site. They do not have a dumping station. Pull through sites are a good size, gravel with a grassy area, and level. There are many different types of sites to choose from which I found confusing. We camped at Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park at Luray in a Tent Trailer.

Visit last year: The park is really nice and the amenities are great for the kids. We had a real great time until someone decided to steal some items out of the cooler. The problem was when we reported the incident, the interaction with the manager made things worse. We finally got the items replaced by one of the managers and that was a really nice gesture on their part.

2nd visit: I called the office and asked them if the pools and slides were opened. The manager told me that the slides were closed until Memorial day weekend, but the pools were opened. No mention that the whole area was under construction. Upon arrival after 5:30 pm, the park the office was closed so we proceeded to park on our slot. To our surprise, there was a whole construction crew working right next to our spot. The space was appropriate. The problem was that the park pool area is currently under renovation and the space is almost in front of the construction site. I am sure that once this is completes it will be a great camping location. Everything was closed and nothing for the kids to do. One pool was open, arcades closed, jumping bounce closed, muddy and filled with water. No ice cream for sale, no Yogi Bear on site. My kids were very sad.

My wife was furious when the crew began banging hammers at 6:30 am at the sound of ac/dc rock music. I went to the front office to inquire about the construction and to ask why on the website, or even when we called, there was nothing mentioned about the park being "under construction". The manager said "everyone knows about the construction". I almost blew a gasket when she said those words. Relocated to another spot and got a discount. Took the kids to a different town to enjoy activities. We camped at Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park at Luray in a Travel Trailer.

Arrived after hours during a big storm. My packet had been taped to the office door, but it had gotten soaked during the storm. When I got to my site, it had about 5 inches of water running through it. I call the after hours number, and asked for and received approval to move to a different site that has better drainage. The 'red carpet' site I reserved is gravel with a concrete pad and a picnic table. The hookups for water, electric, and sewer are convenient and easy to connect. The cable tower is shared between 2 sites, and it requires about 60 feet of coaxial cable to reach. The views of the mountains are exceptional, and the campground is very convenient to Skyline Drive. One pool was open, but the other with the big slide and other children-centric facilities is still under construction - but that isn't noted on the website or mentioned during reservation. We camped at Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park at Luray in a Travel Trailer.

Food Lion, CVS, Hardware Co-op are approximately 10+ miles away, so make sure to stock up before you head to the campground. Don't miss the Luray Hawksbill Greenway in the town of Luray for a beautiful walk. Also a drive along the Skyline Line shouldn't be missed. This is just a beautiful area to visit!

This price was for a holiday weekend which we found very high for what you get. No cable and even though they advertise wifi and we could connect we could not get to the internet or get emails. Park is great for kids though. Sites are tight and our neighbors fire pit was very close to our bedroom. The grass around the pit caught fire several times which made us nervous. Although it is a nice park we would probably look for something different because of the price. We camped at Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park at Luray in a Fifth Wheel.

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $100.00
Overall Rating:

This is a pricey place to stay. Even with our 7-night discount, the extra charge for the 4th of July and the taxes, it worked out to $110 per night. That pretty much covers the negatives. We did find that for our vacation in Shenandoah National Park that it was superbly located. If you have kids with you, there are tons of things to do and everything is extremely well maintained. Our site was a Premium Red Carpet which gave us a concrete pad and patio. Other sites made do with gravel. Our site was pretty level and my trips around the campground showed most all of them were. Most of the roads are paved but even the gravel ones are in great shape. I am pretty sure they cut the grass at night using flashlights and scissors because we never heard a lawn mower. The showers and restrooms were beautiful, ceramic tile and stainless steel. There was the occasional minor problem of water pressure but most of the time it was fine. The big thing for us though was the location. Shenandoah is over 100 miles long and Luray is pretty much as close to the middle as you can get. This greatly shortened the drive times for us. Wi-Fi is free but they do monitor it and if you try to download a big file, they boot you off. Strictly for email and Facebook, not working. Our AT&T signal was fine and we used that for the occasional big file. The sites are pretty close together but angled in such a way that you are not looking out your windows and into your neighbor's. Staff is friendly and helpful and there are plenty of them. The dog park was a pretty large fenced area with a few obstacles for them to jump over. They even provided bags for the dog owners to clean up after their pets. All told, a great experience. We camped at Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park at Luray in a Travel Trailer.

There is plenty to do in the area. Luray Caverns was a 'must see' in our book. Only 4 miles to the Appalachian Trail and the Thornton Gap entrance to the park. There are plenty of small wineries in the area to visit, DuCard Vineyards was our favorite in nearby Etlan. The Luray Zoo is a small, rescue zoo but still worth a visit. Just 4 miles west of the campground is the Luray-Hawksbill Greenway.
