As always a great place to stop overnight. Gravel roads and sites. We park in the new section now. We camped at Fort Chiswell RV Park in a Motorhome.

Good Sam rate for a one night stay. The site was a pull-through and FHU with 50 amp electric. The pad was concrete and level, but required driving up a fairly steep incline before leveling out. We had good Verizon voice and data reception. We did not use the park WiFi. We had good DishTV satellite reception. The park is okay for an overnight stay, but it would be better if the owners removed some of the junk piles on the fringe of the park and asked a couple of the long term residents to clean up their sites. We camped at Fort Chiswell RV Park in a Motorhome.

Just off the highway, so little road noise. Big rig friendly. Easy in & out with room to maneuver. We stayed in a pull thru site in our 45' Class A. Could have stayed hitched, but would have caused the rig to be a bit more unlevel. About 90 gravel/grass sites, many with a shade tree nearby. Some sites have concrete pads. The park is a 1 night stopover for many traveling north and south. Clean restrooms/showers, full hook ups no problem, cable, Verizon wifi was adequate. Truck stop & truck wash between campground and Hwy 81. Would stay again. We stayed 3 nights and drove the Blue Ridge Parkway for about 100 miles. We camped at Fort Chiswell RV Park in a Motorhome.

This was a very convenient one night stop-over for us. Great interior roads and fast checkin. Plenty nice green grass between sites. The pool wasn't open but it's probably a little for that anyway. We will stop here again when passing through. We camped at Fort Chiswell RV Park in a Motorhome.

Couldn't find our exact rate so $40 is a guesstimate. Did have a military discount. This is our third time stopping through this park for an overnight. It's convenient to I-81 and easy on and off. Satellite hooked up on our site and the Verizon signal was adequate. Wifi was ok. We will continue to stop at Fort Chiswell! We camped at Fort Chiswell RV Park in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

We stayed one night. The utilities were placed well and worked well. There is a concrete pad for the RV and the rest of the driveway is gravel. The site was longer than our unit with car dolly (57'). The grounds were quiet at night and is close to a Pilot station. One complaint; we were put on site 41. The concrete on this site sits several inches out of the ground in the back and right rear. Getting into it from the office requires you to turn left then right which wasn't easy with a tow dolly. The dolly ended up along the right edge of the concrete. When we left we had to use boards to walk the dolly trailer along the side of the concrete until we could turn enough to get it up on the concrete pad. We didn't want the dolly or the car to drag across the concrete. This site should be reserved strictly for units that aren't towing. Its a great campground but not a good spot for long vehicles that tow. We camped at Fort Chiswell RV Park in a Motorhome.

Awesome place for quick overnight stay just off I-81. Very neat and clean park. Pull through spaces were very long gravel with lots of grass around. We are 44' plus a car and had plenty of room. Easy to maneuver roads. Both shaded and open spaces. We asked for open so we could get satellite and the spot was perfect. Very nice people. We camped at Fort Chiswell RV Park in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

In my opinion this is a great park for anyone heading north or south. It is quick and easy to get to from the interstate. The parks current owner has owned it for the last 17 years and he is constantly upgrading the park and maintaining it at a high level. Great signage to let you know where the park and office are located. Office staff was extremely polite and helpful. Road in was paved, wide, no overhanging trees and easy to navigate. Mainly pull through sites that are easy to get into and out of. Our site #21 was gravel, reasonably level, all utilities were conveniently located and it was long enough that I did not have to unhook our car. Good site separation. Some sites have more shade than others. Cable was a big plus. Verizon cell and internet services were adequate. We would definitely stay here again, for an overnight or even longer. We camped at Fort Chiswell RV Park in a Motorhome.

Very convenient for one night stay. Easy on/off from highway. Easy to pull in and set up, and enjoyed seeing farm animals grazing on hillsides surrounding RV Park. RV sites were close together but clean and easy hook ups. If we were staying in area longer, would choose nearby RV park, Pioneer Village, which is very beautifully landscaped but not as convenient for overnight stay. We camped at Fort Chiswell RV Park in a Motorhome.

Well maintained park. Good interior roads, great signage to let you know where park, and office is located. Quick and easy to get to from interstate. A lot of pull through sites. Sites are level and long enough so you don't have to unhook. Utilities are convenient and worked like they were suppose to. Some sites are shaded so you don't get satellite but staff is knowledgeable about which sites get signals. We didn't use cable, but it is also available. Wifi was very slow. This is a great little park, and would definitely stay here again. We camped at Fort Chiswell RV Park in a Motorhome.

Couldn't find a place in the area. Called and the very nice young woman said don't worry I'll get you a spot for tonight. And she did. Extremely nice people as were the other campers. Place was packed. Extremely foggy in the morning in June so plan for that. Good interior roads. Close to two major highways. Cable was great lots of channels. Site level on gravel with a big tree & table. NOTE: no trees in New section. Sparkling pool I did not use. I will come back. We camped at Fort Chiswell RV Park in a Motorhome.

Always stay here on our way north or south. Great little campground. Mostly pull thrus, great laundry, and good ice cream at office/store. Lots of clovers and the grass usually needs cut, but they are always cutting it! We camped at Fort Chiswell RV Park in a Motorhome.
