A nice campground amongst large trees beside a reservoir. Large park with various campsite loops. Close to roads but noise was not a problem. We camped at Newport News Park Campground in a Travel Trailer.

We averaged $38 / night for W / E50. This campground is in a beautiful forest of trees just off I-64 which make for a quiet and peaceful experience. The shade was welcome with temperatures in the mid 90's. Sites are spacious with nice spacing. Will definitely stay here again!!! We camped at Newport News Park Campground in a Motorhome.

We stayed here for two weeks. We had a lakefront site which was beautiful. The sites are well spaced so you have a ton of room. We loved sitting out in the evenings watching the wildlife. We camped at Newport News Park Campground in a Motorhome.

Bring your kayak or canoe as there are a ton of paddling sites in the area. NNP is close to shopping and restaurants. There are miles of hiking and biking trails in the park, as well as an archery range. There are also boat and bike rentals, a new store and laundry facility.

We would stay here again. The primary reason is the location, it is a pretty park with lots of easy trails and large campsites and we dealt with the shower cleaning ourselves by spraying a ton of clorox spray all over the shower area. It is true the picnic tables are a bit gross and the fire rings a joke, however it was 90 plus degrees when we were there so we did not sit outside or have fires. So here are the details. This is a pretty park with very large shaded sites. There were many restrooms. We have a 33 ft fifth wheel and had no trouble finding a spot easy to get in and fairly level. The location is fantastic to get to Busch Gardens, Water Country USA, Colonial Williamsburg and Yorktown. We are talking an easy 10-15 minutes to any of these. Jamestown is about a 35-40 minute drive. The BIG negative about this campground are the restrooms. They are 50 years old and are only cleaned once a week and the cleaning they do get once a week is not good. The toilets are not too bad but the showers , particularly the walls and the shower curtains are atrocious. They have black mold clinging to them. We dealt with this by taking a bottle of spray clorox and spraying the heck out of the shower. It helped a bit but it was still not good. We told the rangers about it but they said the city of Newport contracts out the cleaning to the lowest bidder who is very unreliable. Once we confronted the cleaning people about the shower curtains and they told us it was the job of the rangers...yeah that is going to happen. So expect pretty awful showers and if use them bring some clorox to sanitize them. We would have used our showers in our camper but there is no sewer so we would not have been able to do this for 10 days we were staying. Still with everything said about the restrooms, we would stay here again because of the location and value and it is a very pretty park. Our site was C97 and we were right next to a nice playground. We camped at Newport News Park Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Could be lovely park if maintained. Filthy showers. Repairs badly needed. Practically no maintenance on bath house. No fire pits provided yet fires were apparently allowed-everyone had them. Seemed unsafe as we were in a beautiful forest and dead leaves were all around. Well spaced sites. Lake, trails, kayak rentals. We camped at Newport News Park Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

We stayed 3 nights on E loop. And it was quiet. The toilets & sinks were clean, but the showers had black mold on the curtains, floor, and walls. We wouldn't use them as they were disgusting. Most of the sites were empty around us, with a few people in the loop near us. Staff at the office are very friendly. There is a laundry room there very clean & reasonable priced. We had broken glass on our site that a staff person leaf blew off where the car was parked. Tons of cigarette butts left by previous camper. Wish smokers picked up their butts. We checked showers on other loops, and all were moldy, dirty, and stunk. It was very hot & humid out and even with flip flops on, we were not going to use the showers. The park offers firewood, rental boats & bikes, and has nice trails. They just need to power wash the showers. They have a cleaning crew that comes in daily, but they are only responsible for the toilets sinks and mirrors. The park is responsible for the showers. Its a shame how bad they are. We camped at Newport News Park Campground in a Tent.

Stayed in loop B, 50amp site. The site we'd originally chosen had a very steep grade. We drove around and selected another site as plenty to choose from. Actually park sparsely populated throughout our stay, which we thought odd given it was summer. Bathrooms had a funky dirty dog smell to them & may benefit from a deep clean more than what they seem to get. Park has recycling available - big plus given most places irresponsibly do not offer. We chose to stay here as there was lots of walking trails and property, but unfortunately the horse flies would attack at certain times of the day making it very unpleasant. Insect repellent did not seem to work either. We camped at Newport News Park Campground in a Motorhome.

This is a beautiful park - clean, quiet, peaceful - however each time we go the rates are higher. I wanted to stay a month while visiting family in the area, but was told I could stay only 21 days. I would have to leave on the 21 st day, stay away for 9 days and then return. I was quoted $745 for 21 days. I thought that was a little high. The park now has an office/store/laundry to rival any 'resort' at 3 times the price. Next in line for financial attention should be the sites themselves. A level site is a rarity. Some have slopes which are quite extreme. Some grading & paving would go a long way to bring the campground up to the standard of the office. Also, be sure to bring a table cloth for the picnic table. A common complaint but if only campgrounds would give their picnic tables a cleaning a couple time a season with a pressure washer. Overall the park is a gem in the middle of a whole lot to see & do. If you like to be jammed next to your neighbour, have a train or highway right next to you & pay double the price for the pleasure, don't stay here. The few negative comments aside, this is a great park. We camped at Newport News Park Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Great campground to use as a base for visiting the historic triangle. Exceptionally clean laundry room at the office building. Some of the sites are exceptionally unlevel. When reserving, ask for details on the site you are assigned. Our original site was described as "steep" and would not have worked for us. Lots of trees...be aware of falling limbs in strong winds. Great bike riding park. We camped at Newport News Park Campground in a Motorhome.

An older campground located on the North side of Newport News. Convenient location with plenty of activities in the park and nearby. The paved roads are narrow and winding making it difficult for very long rigs. Most sites designed for smaller rigs. It took awhile to find one to back into, but they have plenty to choose from. We camped at Newport News Park Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

No sewer but yes they have a dump. This park is very quiet with plenty of biking and hiking available. They also have fishing and small boat rentals. It is the perfect location for the Williamsburg triangle of history. Some sites are level but many are not but are doable, bring blocks of wood. Everything you need is close by, but while you're in the park you feel like you're miles from everyone. We camped at Newport News Park Campground in a Motorhome.

It has become a very expensive park with poor maintenance, uninformed park personnel, and we were eaten alive with sand fleas and mosquitoes.
Asphalt sites are not wide enough, and the asphalt is crumbling and if it rains the sites become a big puddle.

The park itself is nice overall. There are a lot of sites, with generous spacing between sites. Aspalt pads with grass and trees all around. Views of the lake are plentiful. Sites were not level and some would have been difficult to get into for our 33' rig. The park could use some maintenance on the roads and tree triming. We had to close our windows and turn on the AC only because of the late night noise of helicopters taking off and landing at the nearby military base. We camped at Newport News Park Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Great place to stay. Some of the sites are not level but the one I stayed in was comfortable if just a shade tight. Worth a visit if you are in the area. It was a little cold so we limited our outdoor activities. Looked like there were lots of trails to explore. The ranger station was still under construction but should be done shortly. The restrooms near our campsite were closed for repair also. First time for us staying there but would return. We camped at Newport News Park Campground in a Fifth Wheel.
