This is one of the nicest state parks we have ever stayed in. Our site was packed gravel and the surrounding area was incredibly large and shaded. We backed into a lovely forest. The electric and water were well-placed and easy to use. We had multiple OTA television stations and reasonably good service for Verizon and Sprint. There was a large gravel area 4 tense as well as an area with a picnic table and large fire pit. Would was reasonable at $5 a bundle from the office. There are miles of hiking trails as well as the lake and other recreational opportunities. They have cabins and are currently building Yurts so this would be a excellent place for an extended family gathering. We would stay here again any time we were in the area. - bbmidwife
Oct 2017 - $48.00
Yes the website and all the park signage says $35 for a site but that doesn't include the transaction fee ($5), the entry fee ($5), various taxes ($3.17) bringing the total for the night to over $48. That's way too expensive for such a bare bones state park! The woman in the office was very snitty, probably tired of trying to defend the bait and switch policies and all the park personnel drove very fast through the camp, tires squealing around corners. Currently they are expanding the cabins scattered around the campground so all day long there is the beep beep and scraping of construction equipment, even on Sunday. The camp is laid out in a long line and there is only one bathhouse so for most of the sites it's a long walk. Too bad, we normally love state parks but this is the first Virginia one we've been to and I don't think I'll try another. - GingerCruiser
Apr 2017 - $35.00
Nice large park, sits on north side of Lake Anna. Good walking trails, spacious lots, gravel and dirt and mostly level. Should have WiFi, no reason to not provide it. Pull through spots are spacious, quite. Great place to open the trailer for the season, we will be back. - Wacker

First the positive. The staff is friendly, at least while they are taking your money, and it was very close to our reason for visiting. Beyond that, this was by far the worst place I have ever parked my RV. Level is not something you will find here. The electrical boxes have not been maintained in years. The water pressure was weak when we arrived and pretty much non-existent when the second camper arrived. A previous reviewer mentioned cats. Not to worry, the chickens, geese, ducks, and loose running dogs have chased all the cats away. If you choose to stay here, disposable shoes would be a wise investment as it is difficult to avoid the poo from the menagerie of wild beasts afoot. They don't give you a list of rules when you check in, as apparently there are none. At least it does quiet down when your fellow campers have passed out and there is no one to put new batteries in the boom box. Nothing has been maintained. The icing on the cake was being charged $40 a night. We will not be staying here again. - BounderPounder
Jul 2016 - $35.00
Very friendly staff, friendly people, the water was very warm and pleasant to swim in, right on the lake. They have a nice private store on the campground. There is a rentals at the campground for kayaking. - Butt3rfly74
Jul 2012 - $35.00
We had come in and booked for two nights. Once we were there we realized it was not going to be for us. No level ground, no sewer, place was a mess and had cats running all over the place. We stayed one night because we had family that stayed in tents. We asked for a refund for the second night but they said they dont do refunds only gives rain checks. I will be giving those to someone else because we are not going back. - HeatherRVing

No WiFi, No cable TV, No internet, No over the air TV. If you don't have satellite, suggest you avoid. 30 Amp only. Bring plenty of leveling blocks--sites look level but they are not! - Jdon
May 2018 - $30.00
A three night weekend stay as part of a rally. Site was a level back-in. 50 amp Electric pedestal was within a patch of poison ivy. Negotiated that gingerly. The park appeared to cater to families with children which was fine-we were there strictly as an RV rally get together and for that purpose it was fine. - FrederickC
Jun 2017 - $1.00
The office staff were nice and helpful. We were in the woods so no tv or satellite. Our water spiket had no handle so had to use our pliers to turn it on. Looks like they are concentrating more on rentals...need to work on campsites. There are a lot of what looks like abandoned campers/sites. Gives bad impression...need to do some cleaning up. Pools looked nice. Only would go back because it is so close to battlefields and D.C. - DebT

Access roads were very narrow. Roads in site were also narrow and somewhat bumpy. Turns were sharp. Our site was long enough for our RV and towed car without having to unhook. Folks were very nice and accommodating. Quite a few of the sites would have been real challenges to level long RV's because of sloped sites. - Dennison
Oct 2019 - $56.00
We love KOAs because of their good signage that alleviates some of the stress of finding your campground. This one let us down. Our directions said to turn right on Guinea Station Road. We didn't see a KOA sign there, nor did we see a street sign. Watch carefully for your right turn onto Guinea Station Road when traveling north on US 1. Fortunately we found a place down the road where we could turn around. No complaints other than that. The campground is pretty and the service is very good. We had a problem with the cable and someone was here right away to fix it, despite the fact that it was raining. Also, the camp wi-fi is good. I'm glad because I only have 1 bar on my Verizon cell phone/hot spot. - Lynne1969

Friendly staff. Easy check in. Shady sites. Clean laundry. Very nice bathhouse/showers. Nice camp store with cute camping items. Lots to do. Pool. Fishing pond. Trails. Pet area. - Jan Orlando

Jul 2017 - $35.00
This is a great park for families to have a few days in a wooded location. This is rustic camping in the woods. You get exactly as advertised, no sewer, 30 amp power. Not advertised: The water pressure at the sites is very low and the sites are severely sloped. We were not able to level without raising two wheels off the ground. They do a good job with what they offer, but it is very rough. - larriin
Jul 2016 - $37.00
Great location, if you have a boat this is probably the best. We have stayed here several times, the bathrooms/showers are dirty, and are not cleaned frequently. If they would clean it up and fix the showers just a little the place would be great. Just dirty. - lawson20180
Aug 2014 - $35.00
Sites were very small and had a severe slope. Dirt sites, no gravel. One shower facility with 3 showers for a 200 campsites. Second bath house had no hot water and was very dirty. No fire ring. I had to go searching for large rocks to make a fire ring. Dump station was overflowing. Dog droppings all over the place. I wouldn't stay here ever again. - GoLittleGuy

Dec 2016 - $13.00
This was a return visit. We have stayed here often when visiting family in the area. Vastly improved this year was the entrance process at the main gate. As a retiree, I only had to show my ID and my wife's driver's license. Last year I had to jump through registration hoops and then the guards never pulled up the right list so had to go through it each time I came on post. However, still needing improvement are the utilities!! Water can be problematic--low pressure at times, poor taste, and one stanchion for every two RV. That means you may need a long hose to reach the opposite side of the camper. Electric outlets don't all have a breaker when connecting. Sewers seem to be at the middle to front end of the site, so may need extension hose to dump. Still, it is a great value and the restrooms are immaculate. One night we were treated to night artillery practice and we enjoyed hearing the helos practicing landings...."Sound of Freedom." - Too-wow
Aug 2014 - $12.00
Rate reflects Senior discount from NPS. This place has improved since our last visit. It is in a good location, has easy access, each site is roomy, and comes with table. Check in is "easy" but first go to the office, then they have you pick a site, return to MWR, sign up, then go hookup. Lot's of back and forth. We found a good site close to bath house and were able to pick up WiFi in coach. If we were further away, not sure it would have worked. However, the utilities are still messed up, with a need to share water stanchions, and sewers not always placed conveniently. In addition, they seem to be (according to other campers) always working on water issues and so the quality is questionable. We resorted to bottled water. And when we dumped at our site prior to leaving, we realized the sewer lines were backed up. Told by another camper that this happens every other month or so. So if you can do without WiFi, cable, have long water hoses and two-fers, and are willing to chance the water and sewer, it's not a bad place. But clearly, they need to put some money into the infrastructure. - Too-wow
Mar 2010 - $21.00
This is a MILITARY campground on Fort AP Hill, available to military and civilians working for Dept of Defense. It is not difficult to get on and use the park, if you are authorized. Getting a full hook-up site at Champs is almost impossible with all the contractors and civilian employees taking up many of the "good" sites. Plus, they've got 4 of the 30 amp sites tied up with rental trailers. The camp host couple both work on A.P. Hill. The utilities are misplaced and not effectively utilized. Despite all this, the location is excellent. We used it for a shake-down at the start of spring and to help friends who had just purchased an RV (retired military) learn how to set up and use the RV. It is probably not a destination site, unless you want to hunt in the fall or do some fishing. Some LONG term seasonals (over a year!) are taking up the 50amp sites, so your choices are limited. - Too-wow

We stayed overnight at this campground. We followed the directions on their website and had no problem getting there. This is a nice campground and the people were nice. We were pleased to see they have cable tv. The gravel site was long enough for our 36' RV and our toad. We'll stay here again if we're in the area. - mrpeepers
Jun 2015 - $43.00
No soap, towels in restroom. Bugs, cobwebs in restroom and showers.
Laundry room looked like it had not been cleaned for months.
Will not stay here again. - Rlcjw
Jun 2011 - $40.00
Rather of stayed at the near gas station. Pool was green - so bad couldn't even see a foot deep and tiles were stained with black stuff, what tiles were still on. Bathrooms did not have toilet paper most of the time and very dirty, toilets had rings in them. Grass was allowed to grow up to your knees. Complained about your pets a lot. NOT PET FRIENDLY. Electric for the site ran almost $4.00 a day for a 29ft camper. Sites are narrow and dirty. And no such thing as quiet time when dark. Will not stay again. - campordie

Jun 2019 - $72.00
We paid $72 / night for W / E50 / S / C / I. We were supposed to have cable but it did not work. Main reason we stayed here is that we were enroute to Richmond and at with temperatures in the mid 90's it was too hot to boondock. Interior roads are narrow but in good shape. We were led to our site by our camp hosts. Pine trees provide some nice shade. Recognizing that we are near D.C. and that campground is very accessible to I-95, I still thought it was a bit pricey. - Teddi2
May 2019 - $73.00
The roads inside the park are a little tight and it can get sketchy if an opening is a site or a road. We were led to our site so that solved that problem. There was road noise but you’re between the interstate and a busy road so you can assume that will be the case. It wasn’t too noisy when inside the camper. No cable or WiFi which is not a big deal but the price is way out of line. - Hobbes
May 2017 - $70.00
We are from Spain and we have been touring the United States for three years with our motorhome. Two years ago we stayed here and the comment is the same: it is a camping by the way. Although there are many squares occupied by people that are established there, with children to school and everything, but it is in the middle of a forest and very tight the plots. Close to the base of Quantico, and close to Washington DC. It is the only thing because the treatment of the staff is not very pleasant. We told them that the cable TV did not work and they told us: we already know and we told them then we have to have a discount of the price since they do not offer the services that they had offered us. They said no. If we can avoid it on another occasion we will. - gofion

Oct 2019 - $30.00
There are only 2 or 3 open sites for regular RV travelers. All other sites are full time workers, retired people, or owned by the campground for rental. Most of those sites are poorly kept. Multiple years of debris on the roofs and stains on the sides. No cable. No wifi. The site is gravel with little grass. It is a ways out, so it is very quiet at night. The daily rate above reflects a weekly rate of $210. - Ralph Pinney
Nov 2017 - $17.00
Campground well kept. Owner was very nice. Two thirds full timers but the majority had nice looking sites. Campground will no longer accept Passport America after January, 2018. - User3064
May 2017 - $25.00
The hook ups were centrally located. The site was level. The wifi did not work at the site, however we did have good reception in the office. The shower had one temperature and it was warm. It is a very quite park and the owner is VERY helpful. The park is located off the main road, but worth the drive if you are going to stay a few days. (Note the rate was for a week stay) - Al and Anne-Marie
