The site was ok,except the sewer connection is located at the rear, we had 30ft of hose and not enough. We asked if we could borrow a used hose as we were there 4 nights, said they didnt have one. The campsites in the back are a dump, pool was green. Convenient to freeway and that is about all. An overnight is fine. - lwabend

This was a one night stop over while traveling North on I-95. The campground is about a quarter mile from the exit. The site was long enough that we did not have to unhook our 36 ft travel trailer. Site was level, we were able to get plenty of channels with just our antenna, water and electric were fine. They have a dog walk, but not a fenced in run. We would stay here again when in the area. - GCN56

This was an overnight for us when traveling south and then again when traveling north. Only a half mile or so off I-95 at exit 41, we found the campground perfect for our needs (22' TT and f350). We stayed in two sites, B9 and A8 I think. Sites were somewhat level (nothing a 2x6 wouldn't cure) and average in size. Staff were accommodating and suggested alternate sites that were available. Water pressure, wifi and TV were adequate. We ate at the little restaurant out front the first night and it was a welcome sight so I didn't have to cook! I'm not sure how the campground, rates or amenities compare to others in the area, but for a brief quiet nights sleep it was ideal. - Mark Ramsden

We found this park on Allstays and thought we would give it a try even though we could not find reviews. It is well off the beaten path but only about 20 minutes from Smithfield, VA where we were headed to see family. The park is quiet and very clean with plenty of room between the sites. Most of the residents are here long term, but their sites are well kept. There is a playground for the kids and a fishing lake for those interested. They even allowed our puppy to run free near the lake provided we cleaned up after her. - Wndopdlr1

I stayed in area of park that had tent sites (electric only or no utilities). Bath house a little dirty but acceptable. Some noise issues the first night with kids in adjacent camp sites, but management was responsive the next day and noise was not repeated the next night. The boaters were out as early as 6am on Saturday, and did get waken up multiple times by engine noise. Would recommend ear plugs or white noise device. When I walked around the RV sites, they seemed pretty close together to me. Best sites looked like 321 and 331 for being most spacious and 321 right on river front. Seemed like if you had a large rig the roads might be a little tight and difficult to maneuver on the loop along the river. If you are looking for quiet and isolation, your best bet seems to be on the basic or electric only sites, and the farther away from the bath house the better. Overall fairly clean. Level site. Had picnic table but no fire ring. Lots of space for kids to run around. - DawgDen

We are bicycle riders and this is only campground located right on dedicated 54 mile Capitol to Capitol bike trail. County owned campground so prices are fixed, no discounts. Large public pool, fishing etc. available and right next to Jamestown and Williamsburg. - Jimbeau

Lovely secret gem that's only minutes away from local attractions. We have stayed in other parks and the value can't be beat here. No wifi but I'm tent camping not glamping. Sites are larger than a lot of public space campgrounds. The staff was very friendly and helpful. They are currently upgrading some of the park's electric only sites. The bath house was well maintained and was kept clean throughout our 5 night stay. No trains to wake you up like a few other places and just as close if not closer to Water Country and Busch Gardens. Lots to do onsite as well. Boating, driving range, large pool with splash pad. Definitely returning! - Fulltiminwhileyoung
Jul 2018 - $36.00
Great park. Lots to do with swimming pool, museum, trails, and river within walking distance. Had a little power issue at our site but staff was very responsive and it was resolved quickly. Check in had to be taken care of at the visitor center instead of the entrance kiosk. - HokieDon

This is an overall very nice park. We stayed in Loop B which are the newer electrical/water paved sites. Sites are very big and we had tons of room in the pull through site we had. The only reason I didn't give it a 10 was because of the pea gravel they use. I am still finding little pebbles in my camper that get stuck in your shoes. Sprint cell was spotty, AT&T cell was non existent. Showers were big and clean, Laundry room had book swap and washers and dryers were each $1. There is a vehicle ferry across the James River to get to Williamsburg, Jamestown etc. It will fit RVs so if you come in that way you will be fine. - acenorm
Nov 2017 - $36.00
Typical State Park. Water and electric but no sewer. Sites very unlevel. Very clean Showers and Bathrooms. No Wi-Fi or cable but plenty of local channels. Excellent hiking trails. Need someone at gatehouse to check people in as 1st time campers would be confused on how to check in. Also need to enforce rules as Golf cart was riding around with kids when the Golf cart are not allowed. Will stay here again. - Biggyrat
Jun 2018 - $26.00
We stayed here during the NHRA event June 8 and 9 2018. The campground was in great shape and everyone treated us like family. The improvment in this campground from previous ownership is amazing. The pool was excellent, the restrooms and showers were kept very clean. We plan on making this trip yearly and will be glad to stay here again. - Dalton Bennett
Mar 2018 - $19.00
Large park, rental cabins, lot of tent space, pool, lake to enjoy small playground. Workers very friendly. Some spaces pretty tight, out site not level, interior roads need improvement. overnight pull thrus are long, curved and paved. Water lot of iron, can't drink it. Not all sites have sewer (surprise) they do pump out twice a week. We got about 12 OTA channels. WIFI was decent. - S A K
Apr 2017 - $36.00
We parked in the very front, in what looked like new spots created for short stays. The laundry was just horrible and looked like it was never cleaned. We had no yard but stepped out of our trailer on uneven ground.
Appears to be more of a full time unkept trailer park. We located the dumpsters and it looked like a landfill. The only positive of the park was our view of the lake. Would not return or recommend to anyone. - Tjai Forster
