As written, this is a very nice campground with friendly, helpful staff. The only real beef I have with the campground is that some of the sites (ours included) had steep drop offs in the front, with loose gravel. Backing up into the site with a tow vehicle is tricky- lots of spinning tires. We camped at Williamsburg / Busch Gardens Area KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

The store does sell packages for the colonial triangle. However, decision making details were not provided that could affect purchase. For example, Seniors with gold cards can save a lot of money at Yorktown and Jamestown- cheaper to do it yourself. We enjoyed Jamestown and Yorktown but felt that Colonial Williamsburg was a big tourist $$$ trap. You can ride the bus, park, and walk around the town for free. You pay to go inside buildings, and only about 30% are open each day.

We were invited by our daughter to join her and our grandchildren at this campground for the weekend. We are so glad we did! We had a couple of bad experiences at KOA campgrounds in the past (15 years ago), and had avoided KOA's because of that. What a pleasant surprise with this one! We were welcomed at check-in, guided to our site and helped to park, and welcomed again by this camp staff and encouraged to call anytime if we had a question or needed anything. The site we stayed in was level, had a brick patio, a wooden swing set up in front of the fire pit, and was well-manicured! Our daughter's site even had a gas grill and a table, 4 chairs and umbrella! The Campground had a pay what you will pancake breakfast Saturday morning with the proceeds going to Children's Cancer. This particular weekend they were hosting the families of children with cancer on Saturday with all kinds of activities for them, including a menagerie of miniature animals for the children to pet. The work camper couldn't say enough good things about working here and the owners. Would highly recommend this campground to everyone!!! We camped at Williamsburg / Busch Gardens Area KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

My daughter chose this campground for its proximity to Busch Gardens. There is also a hiking/walking path on site that takes you to an area where you can see bald eagles!

We stayed in a Camping Cabin w our 2 gigs. Cabin was clean and comfortable. Beautifully tucked in the woods. Loved sitting on the private deck. Pool was very nice. Our dogs enjoyed the stay also. Our 8 year old son enjoyed the grounds including pool, k-9 area, and walking trails. Friendly staff. We would probably get a deluxe cabin next time just to have the connivence of a bathroom. We camped at Williamsburg / Busch Gardens Area KOA in a Cabin.

Overall Rating:

The best KOA we have stayed at during five years of full time traveling... there is a reason they have earned numerous awards from KOA. The family that owns these two adjacent campgrounds also manage them and are working every day. We arrived planning on a 4 day stay and ended up staying for almost six weeks. There is so much to do in the area between Willamsburg, Jamestown and Yorktown... and you are an easy drive to either the Norfolk/Virginia Beach area or even to Richmond. The owner is extremely helpful and the pride he has in the campground shows in every thing he does. All of the employees are helpful and willing to do anything they possibly can to make your stay a great experience. A nearby state park offers good opportunities for hiking and bicycle riding, and shopping is only a few minutes away in Williamsburg. Daily rate shown is approximate for the monthly stay. We camped at Williamsburg / Busch Gardens Area KOA in a Motorhome.

From getting registered to asking questions, it was a great experience. Very welcoming from the second you walked in the door. Clean everywhere you looked, bathrooms, showers, laundry, outdoor areas. Large pool and splash pad for hot summer days. Trail thru the woods (1/2 mile moderate). Would go back and recommend to anyone. Easy to get to area attractions. Overall Rating:

This large KOA is set up in two separate campgrounds which are about ¼ mile from each other. The Colonial campground (where we stayed) is referred to as the "family" side and the Williamsburg campground is called the "quiet" side. This review is for the Colonial campground only. Sites are a mix of FHU and W/E pull through and back in sites with 30 and 50 amp, cabins, yurts and tent sites. All rv sites have cable and picnic table. Five pull through sites have a concrete pad and the remainder are all gravel. Interior roads are mostly gravel with some paved areas but are quite narrow. Sites are on the short side with tow vehicles parked at the road making navigating difficult when the park is full. Turns can be tight for big rigs with trees too close to the road, which impedes "swing" room to get around. However, the sites are roomier than most KOA's we have been to. We stayed in site E04, a pull through site with level concrete rv pad and paver patio. Lots of amenities here such as a pool, splash pad, jumping pillows, playground, basketball court, indoor activity center and gem mining. Laundry area had 10 washers ($3 per wash) and 5 dryers ($.25 per 8 minutes) which worked well. Propane sold onsite. Nice camp store that sells drinks, snacks, ice cream, gifts, etc. Bathhouse near us had 3 toilets and 3 showers per gender and although a bit dated, were kept clean. Utilities worked well and Verizon service was fair. Free wifi but we didn't use. Daily trash pickup from your site. Park does not accept mail deliveries. Friendly and helpful staff. Price reflects a 15% military discount and a $10 site request fee to get the site we wanted. Overall, a good park but we felt the price was just too high for what is offered. We camped at Williamsburg / Busch Gardens Area KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Although we did not visit Colonial Williamsburg during our stay, other campers reported that Mondays are the worst day to visit as many of the buildings/attractions are closed. The KOA sells discounted tickets at the office. You can also go online to www.colonialwilliamsburg.com to buy tickets, and if you are active duty/retired/veteran, you can get tickets for 50% off a single day pass.

this was probably the best KOA we have stayed at to date. our site was an oval pull through with patron, very easy to maneuver with 44' HM. the shower / bathrooms were close and very well maintained. the pool / play are was great for our grand kids, large bouncy pillows - great. the pool was very well maintained. office / store was efficient and well organized with a lot of camping essentials and souvenirs. some of the roads were a little tight, you are escorted to your site and my guide first took us to the wrong site - caused me to do some tight maneuvering with the MH to get out and to the correct site. All in all a great spot and campground, a definite stay again. We camped at Williamsburg / Busch Gardens Area KOA in a Motorhome.

KOA Williamsburg/Busch Gardens has been upgraded over the last year with many extras at each RV site (brick paver patios, swing, fire rings, sewer connections with water p-trap (no smell)). Playgrounds upgraded. Very family friendly campground. Maintenance crew continually out raking leaves and cleaning surrounding area. Pavilion and Activity Center are big focus areas for kids events. There is always a check-in follow me cart leading to RV site. Secure gate for entry/exit. Family owned and super friendly service. The fact that the park is in two separate sections was a little confusing because our gps was directing us to the lower section, but you have to check in at the upper section building. There are no amenities available in the lower section this late in the year, except the laundromat, which is $3 per load. The location is convenient to Williamsburg, Jamestown, etc. Staff was great, propane / store available in the upper section, sites were long and narrow. The main problem that we had was with the Verizon cell signal- it was practically nonexistent. The park is deep in a valley, so cell signal is blocked by the terrain. Thankfully, the WiFi was decent for most times of day (except evenings when people were home and using it). We could not rely on cell data and some calls dropped. Also, while I understand that they needed to mow, leaf blow, etc. there were several days when the noise was excessively intrusive and lasted for 6-8 hours. We also had a couple of tense evenings when hurricanes loomed and high winds blew down trees and tree branches in the park. We camped at Williamsburg / Busch Gardens Area KOA in a Fifth Wheel.
