We had site 74. Dry camping with our toy hauler. Little did we know that the spot is tied to a big open spot for tents! It was perfect. It is close to the bathrooms and parking. Some people may not like it as it is at the entrance to the park but it was not bad at all. Also, you can dig for clams and oysters when the tide is low. Amazing 4th display of fireworks across the water. No fireworks on state parks. Thank goodness. - Shorty S
Jun 2015 - $45.00
We had space T24 on the beach loop - 30 amp, water, and sewer. The temperature soared to 92 degrees the first day, but our AC worked fine on 30 amps (we're a 50 amp unit). The pull-through sites could be a little longer for today's rigs, but if everyone parks properly, things seem to fit okay. Friendly staff. - NotSoBadBob
Sep 2013 - $37.00
Nice scenery. Some of the pull-throughs are a little sharp for the bigger rigs, but most are okay. We arrived about 1/2 hour before check-in time and had no trouble getting right in. Ranger and staff were pleasant. We stayed in the Beach Loop at a pull-through site with 50 amp, water, and sewer. - NotSoBadBob

The pros are the sites are shady and right across the street from a nice beach/walking area and full hookups (30 amp). Good cell here (Verizon, T mobile and ATT were all over 7mbps unboosted). All major stations OTA. The area is gorgeous and there are lots of cute little shops and restaurants to explore. The beach is rocky and has a lot of shells but still nice to walk on. The cons are this campground is tiny. I barely fit into my site. In fact my front tires ate some tree stumps getting in. I have a 34ft class A. I believe they should probably not take anything over 32ft here with the awkward layout and tight turns. The sites are placed haphazardly and people are right up on one another. Everyone has their campfires going and due to the lack of space between sites you can't even have your windows open it's so smokey. I'm not very sensitive to smoke at all and it is out of control here. For the price of $42/night this is high for a state park. I heard there was a larger state park nearby which is better suited for large vehicles. I wish I had done more research on that. - Jessie1975

A wonderful state marine park. Prices have risen pretty high. There are a few sites with good electric and water, but most are without hookups. This is one of the best managed parks in Washington. Hookup sites are $35, dry are $30. There are 22 sites and a group site. Some are quite near Puget Sound. - PALPJL
Aug 2011 - $22.00
A beautiful little park on Hartstine Island in Puget Sound about 14 miles from Shelton. The place is just lovely and taken very good care of. There is no dump station- closest one is not near. There is water available and the public rest rooms are very nice. Showers take quarters- 50¢ for 3 minutes. This is not real close to anything, but if you are a boater or want to use your kayak this is a wonderful spot. - PALPJL

The Office and the C.G are 300' away with the HWY between them. No Interent in the C.G and very poor at the office. Only one pit toilet for 12 RV sites and 15 tent sites at the C.G. - summerdude
Mar 2011 - $30.00
We reserved 4 nights here and was very disappointed. It turned out to be nothing more than a vacant lot with hook ups and an (unmaintained) portapoty at one end. Most of the other people that was staying there looked like lowlifes. There were trash piles throughout the park. No signs of any kind of maintenance at all. The RV park was across the highway and about 50 yards down from the resort where you needed to go to use a real bathroom or shower. They were dirty and lacked toilet paper or paper towels. Again unmaintained. While checking in we got the feeling that they could careless and we were just a nuisance. Very unfriendly. - richnjoy

Extremely rude and unprofessional management. Obvious sewer failure, waste was rising and flowing into grounds. No effort was made to clean up. Water bib broke. Wi-Fi never worked. Spaces way to small and unlit for $650/mo. The electric has been updated, that is why I give it one star. - Kryder
Nov 2017 - $33.00
We loved this little park. Had not planned to stop here, but decided we needed a break when we stumbled across it. Got a pull thru with an unobstructed view of the canal out the front windows. Everyone we met at the park was friendly and helpful. 50 amp. Full Hookups. Verizon was 8 up and 8 down. WiFi was 24 down and 8 up. My husband says that is really good. Lol. Some folks have noted the highway noise. We never noticed it. The one thing I disliked was how tight the sites are. Not a problem this time of year, but if they were full, it could get a bit crowded. We enjoyed our overnight and will definitely be back. - LissM
Jul 2016 - $45.00
Was there for 5 days 4nights > was a great place. The owners were so much help from getting us in our spot to helping with TV hook up as this was our first outing in our new 5th wheel. We be going back again and again and again.
Thank you so much!!!! - ama

Jul 2019 - $40.00
We were parked in the back, bit tight getting around with all the cars parked everywhere, but then it was fairly easy to back into this long spot we had, site 12. It was a tight spot, our neighbors awning almost touched our slide, gravel parking lot, FHU with 30 am, not too level, and when we came out the door there was a drop off. Unfortunately it was one of the spots that didn't get satellite. Wifi was pretty good, verizon signal weak. It was quiet, hot tub was nice, picnic table on the back side of the RV. The owners/host had no problem moving us to another site the next day that was more level, a bit roomier and we got satellite. The bay is across the way and it is a great view. There is a trail to walk the dog, but it is steep. Other than that, not too many places to walk the dog. We would stay here again. - dorcol
May 2019 - $34.00
Pads were level. Water, electric and sewer were all in great shape. No problems whatsoever. Park has a motel attached. Gazebo, hot tub, fishing pier, and hiking. Great place and will be going back again. - harvform
Aug 2018 - $42.00
Very nice park. Compact but very clean and comfortable. Utilities were located properly, cable was crystal clear. Hot tub was great followed by Mexican dinner a short distance away. Dock for watching boats on the canal. Pull through pads level and new. Owners are great!!! - Larry & Julie

Mar 2017 - $40.00
I called for a reservation during business hours and did not receive a return call. So as instructed, I contacted the night manager at his site. The night manager seemed very bothered when I did this. The cost was never disclosed on their web page so I anticipated the $15 per night found on this website. Turned out to be $40. There are better RV parks for a much cheaper cost which are more developed. - Karichel
Dec 2014 - $15.00
We stayed here in a motorhome for several months (The monthly rate went up to $450 January 2015). It's a nice place with several of the RV spots on the water (next to the restaurant).
Level spots, most of good size. Good water, cable TV & good wifi (usually better than my Verizon with the booster).
The bathrooms are private with adequate hot water, but the showers cost 50 cents for five minutes. The laundry room had 2 sets of washer/dryer ($1.50 wash & $1 dry for 38min).
There is a restaurant across the street & a small dock in Spencer Lake for our use.
The owner is serious about the 5 mph speed limit.... I'd stay there again. - becida
Jun 2010 - $35.00
Located at 1111 E. Pickering Rd., N of Shelton on Hwy 3. Has good gravel interior roads, roomy, level, gravel and grass sites. Has very friendly owners: we were allowed to pick our site. Seems like 10 units lived here full time. Has excellent cable TV service. Lots of trees in the area, but nearby ones were trimmed high and did not interfere with slide outs or awnings. Was a clean and quiet RV park. Rained a lot when we were here, so very little outdoor activity noticed. Verizon worked well for phone and internet. - renodick

May 2019 - $40.00
Very beautiful, quiet park on the Key Peninsula. Nice hiking and views of the south Puget Sound. The group camp looks awesome, will have to return with the Boy Scout troop. The park is very narrow and winding. I could barely fit thru with my 25' TT and full size truck. Site 78 in particular was a puzzle to get out of, once I got in. It's a pull-thru site that you can't actually drive all the way through with a rig that big. The park seems to be dry-camping only, which is fine if you know that going in. Dump onsite is included in the camping fee. Hikes out to the point and along the beach are easy and fun. The place seems off the beaten path and quiet. - PNWNerd
May 2018 - $30.00
This is a none service park. It's an older park and fairly narrow to navigate. Sites were not very level. Although it is a beautiful park with very large trees and great trails. It's at the end of the Kitsap Penninsula, it's only 30 min. from Silverdale. I would stay here again. - Landsharkcampers
Sep 2015 - $35.00
Penrose Point is a beautiful state park with no hookups. Water spigots are available, and the dump station has potable water. The campground is heavily forested, which grants significant privacy for most campsites. Some of the turns are quite tight and branches can be low, so really big rigs may have a tough time navigating to their site. But, my 25' trailer and 20' truck were fine. The sites are moderately level. Bring some blocks. You will need them. Verizon service was good. Due to the many tall trees, satellite TV service is nearly impossible, and broadcast TV is limited to a few local religious channels. But don't spend your time watching TV! Get out and see the beauty of nature in the Pacific NW. There is no playground for the little ones, but a big grassy day use area is available with a smooth gravel beach which is very shallow and perfect for wading. This is an ideal park for kayaking. The hiking trails are extensive and lovely. This park is fairly remote, yet only 2 hours from downtown Seattle, 0nly 1 hour from Tacoma. A big grocery and several small restaurants are located about 20-25 minutes north of the park. The sites are gravel and dirt, with lots of moss mixed in. Campfire rings and picnic tables are at each site. Though I didn't see every campsite, I recommend avoiding site 50 - the trail to the bathrooms literally goes through the site. I camped in site 16 - a moderately sized pull-through. I was at Penrose on Labor Day weekend. My fellow campers were okay. On one side, two families were loud talkers, but generally fine. On the other side, two families that were quiet and hardly noticeable other than the occasional soft notes of strumming on guitar strings. Pretty typical for a state park on a holiday weekend. Kids on bikes were everywhere. Lots of dogs too. I would happily return to Penrose Point. - SeaTeacher

Sep 2017 - $15.00
Folks tethered to electricity and full utility sites are really missing some great camp sites. Scenic Beach offers private, shaded sites that you just can't find other places. Each site is surrounded by tall trees, and an understory of bushes, so you can hardly see or hear your neighbors. It is above Hood Canal, with an equal number of back in and pull thru sites, but as it's in the hills, not all the sites are level. There is a dump site. Also, if you don't have reservations, you need to pay at the entrance which is quite a hike. Even though its an extra $8. I would recommend reservations just for that reason alone. There are a few trails and a small beach within walking distance. I want to go back in May when the rhododendron are in bloom. It must be spectacular. - Desertthorn
May 2015 - $28.00
This is an outstanding campground. There are no utilities in the campsites, but there is potable water and a RV dump station. The camp is located on the north end of the beautiful Hood Canal. During clear weather, the rocky beach has a spectacular view of the Olympic Mountains. The campsites vary from private to very private. Our site was totally private and deep in the lush dappled sunlight of cedar and fir trees. There are two good playgrounds for kids. Many sites are small and somewhat uneven, but they work for small and moderate RVs. Pull-through sites would fit all but the largest bus type RVs. We were there on Memorial Day weekend, and the campground was full. Fellow campers were generally quiet, and all noise was done by 10 PM. I would happily return. - SeaTeacher

Aug 2019 - $50.00
It's all about the location. Though a bit pricey for what you get, the only park if you want to be near Gig Harbor. Downtown is within walking distance, and there is also a trolley that runs frequently, $0.50 per ride or $1 for the day. Albertsons, Costco and Target are nearby and plenty of other stores within a few miles . Breweries abound as do good restaurants. A multi use trail that runs through town and across the Tacoma Narrows Bridge is within walking distance. The park is in the pines, wooded and relaxing. There are basically 2 sections, a lower section with part time campers and upper where longer term campers stay. Interior roads are paved, with sites being gravel/medium sized rocks, no grass and varying in length and width. Parking and leaving is a bit tricky, little tight on the turns. Our site was comfortably long and wide enough for our 36 foot Class A and Jeep. Electric was fine, water pressure average, and cable TV a bit on the weak side. We did not use the bathrooms or laundry. - Vegas Trippers
Jul 2019 - $40.00
The park was in an excellent location with easy walking access to the town of Gig Harbor and a short drive into Tacoma. Sites were a wee bit tight side to side for big rigs, but manageable. Staff was great, always helpful. Little bit of road noise if you're towards the front of the park, but not an issue. Laundry was newer and machines all worked. If we had any complaint, it is the rock used on the pads. The gravel is so large dogs fear to tread on it. Absolute ankle twisters. Manageable but not comfortable to traverse. - SVLandYacht
Jun 2019 - $56.00
Sites were plenty long and ours was level. Park is larger than it first appears. Several long term units in rear, upper area but not a detraction at all. Park appears well cared for. Nice helpful staff. - granitebaygeezer
