The site we got was very big and wide and had a nice big picnic table and fire ring. (Site 25) We really liked it, even though it was very uneven. We were able to get the rig level enough, but had to work a bit in the front to contend with a big slope down. Luckily we had a lot of extra blocks. This RV park is very rustic. Bathrooms were not that great. No cell service here. But there are a lot of nice amenities. Pool was not fancy but nice and clean. Nice playground and game room for kids. Kayak and peddle buggy rentals. The food at the cafe was good. The store and lodge rooms were not cheap but very nice. My friend had a lodge room with a really nice private bathroom. There is a bigger store across the road. The internet was really good. Even though we did not have cell service, we were able to use the wi-fi calling on our phones and text with no problem. The swimming park with boat launch etc on Yale Lake is pretty much across the road (not walking though). We wanted to stay all day on Sunday and just booked another night to do so, which had a lower rate at $38. Overall this is a great location to explore a lot of nice trails and features in the Mount St. Helen's Monument. We can't wait to go back. We really enjoyed it. We camped at Lone Fir Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Wide grassy sites that weren't quite long enough for a 36' MH + toad. Had to park the toad across the front. The main large rig sites (21-29) had a definite slope down to the front of the RV. Auto-leveler wouldn't even try, and we had to add 9" of blocks under the front jacks to manually get it to level. Made for a very big first step into MH. Only had 30A hookups, and in 95 degree heat, that was an issue. Hookups were good and water pressure was very good. The campground includes several small cabins, and has a restaurant/cafe onsite. Friendly staff. Only allows 2 dogs per site, which I wasn't told when I made the reservations, as I had said I had 3. The guy who checked us in said the boss was out sick and he was working on his day off, so he said no problem (and put that in writing on our check-in sheet). They also had a pool, and rec room with ping-pong, pool table and card playing tables. I would stay here again, even though they only had 30A connections. We camped at Lone Fir Resort in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

This is a smallish RV park with paved road and gravel camp sites. Sites are all back-in and somewhat reasonable size, but on our visit there were many friends gathered in the site next to ours, and the noise of their gathering was intrusive. (They did observe the "quiet time" and the larger group broke up just before 10PM though there was some "quiet" chatting for awhile until about 10:30PM or so.) We were sensitive to this due to a very early (4 AM) departure time for a hike on Mt. St. Helens. Our visit, on a Friday night (with Saturday departure) was on a busy summer weekend. The park was filled to capacity. The Site was ok, but had a definite downslope toward the access road. (Our small rig does not have means to level it.) Utilities are conveniently grouped together, water, sewer, and electrical/tv connections were all within 36 inches of each other. The site was open to the sky, but large trees surround the sites. Late afternoon was shaded by the trees. There was almost no highway noise near our site -- but there's not much traffic on the main road. I wanted to like this RV park ... but in the end, my feelings were just a little disappointed. We camped in a Class B Van. We did NOT have a tow car. I'd consider using this RV park again (but it's unlikely as it's within an hour of our home). We camped at Lone Fir Resort in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Well located for access to the south side of Mount St. Helens (Federal Monument) for the hiking trails there. There are also various water-activities at the large reservoir near the town.

Gravel and packed soil sites, slightly uneven. Shady on South and West side of loop. Fire ring and table at site, sites large and mowed grass. RV's mixed with cabin rentals, but proposed no problem, ie., noise, etc. We plan on returning for our family reunion. Restaurant closed during our stay. There are many sights to see, hiking and water activity in the area. No telephone reception, but WiFi excellent. We camped at Lone Fir Resort in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

This is a nice "resort". Has what looked like to be nice clean rustic rooms. We stayed in the campground in a 32' RV. Sites are large enough but close to each other. There is nice gift shop and café, had hamburgers one night and they were very good. We did stop one morning for breakfast, but after looking around and saying is any one here a few times over the loud music playing in the kitchen we left. Also has a very nice pool, and small play ground. Bathrooms could use a lot of work, but useable...on site laundry, but can only be used after they are done later in the day, I did not go in. Free WFI that worked ok, No ATT cell. If your going to this area in the peak season I would call ahead, there are not many places to choose from in the area and the middle of the week in June was pretty busy. Make sure you take in the Ape Cave and other sights in area. I would stay here again. We camped at Lone Fir Resort in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

This is a very quaint and rare resort, from my experience. It has RV spaces, tent spaces, and also cabins, a small hotel type building, an on site restaurant and gift shop, pool, club house and more. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The RV spaces are not paved, but seem pretty level. They are spacious with a picnic table, fir pit, and BBQ. The resort is near to some great hiking and Mt St Helens attractions as well, and the tiny town of Cougar WA is within walking distance with things to see and do. I'd definitely recommend this resort to those exploring the area. We camped at Lone Fir Resort in a Motorhome.

Do not go on the 4th of July, if you do not want to hear the fireworks, nearly in your camp site. Raised hell with my pet. Red necks driving their off road vehicles from the camp site to the restaurant, about three hundred feet. Owners are very nice. Bathrooms are one stall; need to be over hauled. We camped at Lone Fir Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Since our group was to do a climb of Mt St Helens this CG was a good base for the trip and it is where you have to pick up your passes for the hiking trails so it was convenient. The park has a nice if a bit small pool (we didn't use it) a rec hall with TV, pool tables, couches dining tables and a propane grill outside to use. There is also a shower building and laundry on site. Propane is available if needed. Most of the sites tended to be a bit off-level and we were to the end of our levelers ability to get us there never quite getting fully level front to back. 50 amp power was NOT available at our site and we didn't see evidence of any pull through sites but there may have been one or two. CG was clean and the staff was friendly and not intrusive. There is a cafe on site and seems to be about the only one around as it tended to be quite busy at times. Breakfast was very good but don't expect silverware and china, strictly paper plates and plastic. The breakfast pizza was great as was everything else we tried. Sites are mostly HUGE with room for the biggest of rigs and an additional trailer or boat and two more vehicles! We will camp here again if hiking the mountain or visiting the area. Would have ranked higher if the sites were level. We camped at Lone Fir Resort in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

Under new owner-manager. This was our second stay, first was in 2009. We really like this campground. Has restaurant, pool, laundry, facilities for big gatherings, small motel and cabins in addition to 38 RV sites. New owners very helpful. Park amenities are older but kept up. Restrooms are supposed to be remodeled in the near future (they need it). We got site up a small road at the back end of the park, nice and quiet which we appreciated. Nice shade as well. Some of the sites in the main campground area do not have shade trees. Wi-Fi only available in office, restaurant and club house but worked great. There are many lakes nearby as well as Gifford Pinchot National Forest to explore. We will stay here again. We camped at Lone Fir Resort in a Travel Trailer.
