We were looking for a spot in the Seattle area and they were tough to find. We looked at the reviews of all three famcamps at Jpint Base Lewis McChord. This seemed the best. The reviews are pretty limited and old, so thought it was time to update them. First, the directions worked perfectly and got us to the main gate at McChord Field. We made it through the gate with no problem in our 35' Class A Motorhome with a toad. Talking with others here, they did as well. So do not worry about getting in. There are two lanes and no barriers. They do curve, but not an issue. Plenty of room to get through the gate. Just follow the directions on this page and no problem Next, the setting is tall ones and forested. Very pretty and a break from the urbaness of the surrounding city. That said, the roads are somewhat narrow but very navigatable. They seem to put all the bigger rigs in the FHU upper loop, sites 20-37. These are all back in sites. Not very level. We had to use blocks under the tires and jacks. Many of the sites have rear sewer that is up hill! Kind of a pain but very workable with some patience. There are lots of trees, but we and others we spoke with had no issues with needing to trim. The sites looked like they had been tended for foliage. Each site has a picnic table and grill. There is very limited connectivity in the upper loop. No way you will get any satellite with all the trees. There is no cable. We did get some local OTA channels, but not all the major ones. Some sites might be better than others. We had good usable Verizon coverage for both voice and data. Their wi-if is pretty much useless. You can only get it at the office, where the router is, and sometimes at the clubhouse, which is nearby. We have a WiFi booster and could not even pick it up. There are no repeaters in the Park, and the bandwidth up and don is in the single digits. Not an issue if you are here just camping. We camped at Holiday Park FamCamp (Military FamCamp) in a Motorhome.

Our son sponsored us for base access otherwise we would not have been able to stay here. Large sites with lots of room between sites. Blacktop interior roads as well as pad at site. No problem getting into site just had to be very aware of a couple of trees when driving to site. Stayed in 2 different sites while we were there as you can only stay a maximum of 14 days in any particular site before you have to move. (Total of 28 days max). First site was fairly level and 2nd site maxed out our rear jacks while the front jack just touched the ground. Water pressure was good and taste was OK. 50A worked well the entire time we were there. Laundry was available though the machines appeared worn out as there always seemed to be a out of service sign on at least one of them whenever we did our laundry. Verizon voice/data reception was average. As far as satellite TV reception this was the 1st campground in 3 years of almost continuous traveling that I have not been able to find some spot for my detached antennae to get reception. Trees were just too tall and too many of them. Overall a good place to stay. We camped at Holiday Park FamCamp (Military FamCamp) in a Motorhome.

We stayed here after moving out of our house due to military orders. One of the quietest parks I have ever been too. And talk about green! The park is for DoD ID cards only. Located close to the runway of McChord AFB. You would think plane noise would be a problem but it wasn't. We stayed on site 37. Ample room for parking. The site itself was pretty level but if you have to set up in the hours of darkness, like I did, bring a headlamp because it is DARK! There is a large playground for kids and plenty of trails and low traffic roads. A running trail goes the entire length of the runway and into the base itself. Burger King and post shopping facilities are under 5 minutes away via car. The office staff are extremely friendly. There is WiFi available but we used my Verizon phone as a hotspot and had ample access. There is a clubhouse available as well as a large pavilion for rental. This would be an excellent place to stay if you wanted a base camp for exploring the Puget Sound area. For the money you can't beat it. Overall this a very nice campground and I would definitely stay here again. We camped at Holiday Park FamCamp (Military FamCamp) in a Travel Trailer.
