The Good: The Bad: no easy water, no dump station This is a limited services National Forest campground - pit toilets, no RV dump station Verizon: No Service Roads To: Highway 12 is a major road, with great asphalt Interior Roads: flat & level Parking pad: We camped in loop H, where the parking pad is basically a wide spot in the road, with enough room for the RVs to park parallel on one side, RVs parked tip-to-tail. Space can be at a premium if you have three long rigs adjacent to each other, but there is extra parking for tow cars and trucks nearby Pricing: $20 ($10 with discount) Noise: We were there on a Friday night - several large groups Garbage cans: trashbins Water: no water at the site. Bulletin board said water at picnic area, but that water spigot was too far from the road to be useful for RVs. Another camper said water was available in Loop A, but we didn't see that until later. We went back to Oahanapecosh to tank up (about 12 miles round trip) Loop H is for rigs 25' or longer. If you have a shorter rig, Class B or C or a camper, you might be better off in Loop A or one of the other loops. - OlderGoat
Jun 2018 - $10.00
We stayed in Loop H, the only spaces that will fit medium trailers. We are 20'. The 'river' loop sites are very small and roadway is narrow and tight. Loop H sites are roadside parallel parking and some can be very tight to fit the trailer and tow vehicle. We had plenty of room to put our slide out next to the roadway. With >20 sites, traffic is minimal. Quiet, close to river, we enjoyed the 2 night stay. Would stay here again. We reserved online and that was an added $10 for the Reserve America fee, but well worth it. - Nevada Nick
Jun 2017 - $12.00
Spent the first weekend of June here and it was maybe half full. This is an old, dry campground and spaces in A thru G are short, tight and close together, with tall trees and little room for anything longer than a van. Saying that, there are exceptions and did see some trailers and RVs under 30 foot squeezed in, but nothing for longer RVs.
Loop H is where we were, and it has more room for the longer RVs and where you would want to be if you need solar. The spaces are not pull thru, but wide spots in the road where you can park and the tables are tucked back into the woods.
Sites 12 -15 are sort of together so would be good for large groups, and 13 is actually a multi family site with 2 tables but not a lot of room for tents. (Ground is rocky so bring pads to sleep on.)
Toilets are pit and the water was shut off when we were here, but available in loop A. Fee station is on Loop A, so pick your site and then go an pay. Reserved sites are well marked. - Desertthorn

Jul 2019 - $34.00
This park is a great value in a nice, quiet, stop-through town. We needed some R&R and this campground fit the bill. Seems most people use this as a base camp to visit Mt. Rainer or Gifford Pinchot National Forest. Quiet park for the most part. Not many people here to party or make a bunch of noise which was nice. We reserved a site with full hook-ups, but the 30A service was not working, so we opted for the 15/20A Outlet. Not a big deal for us though. Went to attach our sewer hose and found the connection was full. Brought it to the attention to the campground staff and they addressed it right away. Wifi is decent and worked pretty well. Site 38 was mostly level and mostly shaded. Some sun was nice to charge our solar set up. Cool little public airport just down the street and it was cool to see some small planes come and go. Overall we really loved our stay here! - RoadtoIdyll
Jul 2018 - $33.00
We have stayed here many times and we like this park. It ain't fancy, but it has everything you need. Utilities work great. Nice laundry room with machines that don't rip you off. Shady spacious sites and definitely big rig friendly. Nice management who called us prior to our arrival to let us know it was going to be hot; she asked if we wanted to be put in a 50 amp site! Now that's great service! No cable TV. WiFi worked very well most of the time. Walk to everything in town. We will always stay here when visiting Mt Rainier NP. - Arizona Nancy
Jul 2018 - $34.00
This is an older campground but it was nice and provided everything we needed: full hook-ups, shady site, good wifi, nice laundry facilities. Office staff was friendly and helpful. We were in site 10 which requires you to drive between 2 large trees but we had no problems getting our 31 foot Class C into the space. - prmin

Sep 2011 - $15.00
Twice a year on the long Memorial Day and Labor Day weekends, Packwood Washington comes alive with a huge flea market that takes over the entire town for three days as well as private homes having yard sales for miles each way. This is private property owned by Steve (number above) with a huge level field that the family allows everyone to camp on, in RV's right behind the big event. No hookups, some general courtesy rules and porta potties and dumpster provided. East end of town, turn right at intersection of Shell gas station and Snyder, turn right at 114 Snyder at the first long driveway. Funky and fun weekend with huge crowds at the markets and many RV'rs make this a destination weekend. - happy trails

Most beautiful campsite we have ever been. The river just behind our camp spot was truly Amazing. Definitely would come here again. - Flonier
Aug 2018 - $20.00
Loved our site #16 as it was right by the river and very large. Appreciated that no generators were allowed in our loop and that they provided bear boxes for the food. My only complaint was the restrooms were really dirty. No paper towels, poop all over one of the toilets, and the hand soap was a dirty bar on a string that was tied near the sink. I know it's rustic camping, but the bathrooms need more attention. - Lee and Trace
Jul 2017 - $20.00
This is a great campground. The campground is set in a beautiful old growth forest with the Ohanapecosh River running through the campground. There are trails for hiking, as well as other sites to see around the Mt Rainier area. There is also a visitor center in the park. - Dan C

May 2019 - $40.00
Stayed 3 nights. We were very lucky and the spot we had was secluded. Be prepared for a few things- the navigating and spots are extremely tight. Be confident in your backing abilities. Bring extra blocks to level your setup. Most sites are very uneven. Be prepared for TONS of children on bikes everywhere. Bring extra water hose and power cord. The distance to a pole is typically more than 50ft. If you intend to shower on site bring things to put your clothes in- the showers are very rudimentary- no curtain, just in a stall. The staff is friendly but clueless as to what seems to be going on. Upon checking in no information was required except for my name. Water was out to the entire park for a few hours one morning. Our site didn't have a fire ring, a full time resident advised to take one from the next site over. When leaving we were offered the opportunity to dump tanks however the septic was 100% full and overflowing into open ground. Highly unsanitary. Overall it was a weekend out of town. Due to all of the issues, we wont be back. - Sahiri
Jul 2018 - $40.00
This is a huge campground with hundreds of sites, of which there are probably 50 or more full hook-up, pull-thru sites. The campgrounds were unkempt but the real issue is the number of derelict trailers that are covered with tarps and have full timers living in them. Although we didn't have any issues it made for a very uneasy feeling and not one that we want to have again. - kckid
Jul 2018 - $32.00
Sites are first come. Finding 50 amps is a challenge. Sites are dirt. Roads are dirt and gravel. Water pressure is non existent. There are a number of run down permanent campers scattered throughout which doesn't give one warm fuzzy feelings. Would NOT recommend nor go back. Meeting room isn't air conditioned. - V4369

Jul 2018 - $20.00
This is a NPS campground in the Mt Rainier National Park. It is a 20 minute drive from Paradise and a 5-7 drive from the Longmire historic area. There are numerous hiking trails in the area. This campground was created a long time ago before big trailers and RV's. The sites are small, though there are plenty of pull throughs for RV's. There is not much privacy either. Still, the area is scenic, the facilities are decent and it is a great park to visit. - Dan C

Sites were gravel, pull through sites faced right way. Forrested, near hiking trails, easy to reach Longmire, Paradise areas of park - jmholton
Aug 2015 - $10.00
Campground is in the Southwest corner of the park. Spaces are reasonably separated but most are pretty tight and the loop road is narrow with many trees to avoid. Be careful in a bigger rig. this is a pretty basic campground typical of the NFS. Has water and restrooms but that is about it. Can't beat the location if you are exploring Mt. Rainer from the SouthWest side. - DennisA

Just spent a couple days to do some fishing in the wonderful Cowlitz River area. No sewer at our site, but they have recently added sewer to several sites. They do have a Dump station, $5! Owners are great people, will help in any way they can! - Dennis H
Sep 2018 - $30.00
At first I was hesitant because I couldn't find a website or a lot of information online about this campground. I'm glad we gave it a try! The lady owner came out and greeting us as we were driving up. When we were leaving she came out and thanked us for staying and wished us a safe trip. She was very friendly and let us choose the site we wanted. We told her we wanted satellite reception so she pointed us to the ones that would accommodate that. We were in a 38' class A motorhome and choose one of the grassy drive-in sites that faced the highway. The campground wasn't very busy when we were there so we had a lot of privacy. There wasn't anyone on either side so our site felt extra-large. There was a bit of highway noise during the day, but that was expected when we selected a site next to the road. Our site didn't have sewer, but there is a dump station for $5. The price of $30/night was very reasonable; but please note they only take cash or check. We did get a little scratch on the side of our coach from driving through the campground because of all the large trees. You just have to be extra careful. The atmosphere, trees, and grass throughout was very nice. - AZandBC
Aug 2018 - $20.00
Really enjoyed this campground. The manager let us choose our site, so we got one with some sun and some shade, perfect for our Dish Satellite. Sites are large and well-spaced. Washers and dryers were older, but they got the job done and weren't overly expensive. The manager is very helpful and tries to make sure guests are happy. AT&T cell phone and Verizon MiFi worked well in this campground. We would stay here again if in the area. - Bobbi1948

The RV park is really a parking lot full of weeds, with a HoneyPot/Port-a-Potty right in the middle. Some of the electrical outlets would not work. They have run down trailers and truck campers that look like they are permanent. The employees and owners yell at each other when new campers come in, because there is not enough room for their cars and the campers. Each spot has barely enough room to put out your slides, and no room for a picnic table or outdoor furniture. It is more like a parking lot. Even though this park is right outside the entrance to Mt. Rainier National Park, I highly recommend finding another location. We left a day early and forfeited the cost, just to get out of there. The owners that run the Gateway Inn & Cabins, also run the RV Park. - DonnaDean

Aug 2018 - $10.00
Very interesting and confusing Park. The services are a mishmash through the entire park, with 50 Amp service available in some (very sunny) areas, but not with sewer (except 4 spots), 30 Amp in most spots, water in all spots. Gravel roads in upper Park, but "The Woods" evidently floods each year, and looked very dusty with water, a few 30 Amp sites and no sewer. The person working at the desk on arrival was quite slow and not very helpful. Fortunately, we knew which site we wanted, as we'd been told by friends who were already there. WiFi is $1 per day per device and quality really isn't worth it. Structures are dated but adequate and clean. Landscaping is adequate, except for overhanging limbs in sites and over roads. We requested some branches be trimmed due to scraping on our 12 foot roof and awning, but they didn't get around to it. No AT&T service, but friends had T-Mobile with adequate service. - DocWMB
Jul 2018 - $1.00
Took my family for the weekend. Took a day trip to Mt Rainer. Park host was friendly. The pool was indoor and good size. They had changing rooms and showers. The executive golf course was fun. Greens were in good shape. Fairways were a little baked. Nice grounds to walk your dog. Some amenities could use some maintenance but overall a good place to stay. Full hook up areas are a little tight between spots but are pull through and plenty of room for you vehicle. One way through the full hook up area. If arriving after 5pm you find a spot and check in next morning. - Mark Rowe
Jul 2018 - $4.00
Membership plus affiliation Good Sam & Coast to Coast. Older park roughly 55 full hook-up, 30 amp sites, some shade, narrow but adequate for slides and patio awning. 15 50 amp sites in full sun are not labeled as full hook-up. Roughly 80 forest sites are water only or water & electric only and are suited to smaller rigs/tent. WIFI, cable and electricity are charged on a daily basis and by device for WIFI/day. Member cost for 3 days, 30 amp, cable and 4 wifi devices was $25.00. - WayneG
