Pulled in for an overnight on our way south without a reservation. The maintenance man checked us into a mostly empty park. Very friendly and helpful. All special amenities shut down for winter but we didn't mind. Lovely, tidy park. We walked our dog and let her run in the park. Lake is really pretty as were all the Fall leaves. Be sure and google Soap Lake, very interesting. Right by 17S but we didn't notice the traffic noise in the motorhome. I can see this would be a real happening place in the summer months. Sites sloped to lake. Narrow roads and tight turns in park. We would stay here again. We camped at Smokiam Campground in a Motorhome.

Very easy access off Hwy 17, well signed and visible. Level gravel back in sites right on the water, a few with small shade trees, plenty of room to park the toad in the middle area. Host on site. Auto-Pay station that accepts credit cards located in front of the restrooms. There is a dump station at the front of the parking area leading into the campground that appeared to be free. This campground is nicely kept with a friendly, long-time host. It is easy to walk to and through town from here, as well as "take the waters" in Soap Lake. Signs lead you around town on the "historic door murals" route. There is a Par 3 golf course that was positively run down, but would be a hoot to knock around in if you have your clubs and a bag of old golf balls you won't mind losing in the weeds. Of course, the main attraction is the healing waters of Soap Lake! We camped at Smokiam Campground in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

Very clean park situated on the edge of Soup Lake. Arrived on Sunday and the place was loaded with families and noisy power boats on the lake. I asked to be placed in the back row, away from the lake and pool, so it was quieter. It's a beautiful surrounding and it's obvious they're working on quite a few improvements. However, this all comes with a doubling of the campsite fees. We camped at Smokiam Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Lots of construction dirt piled for levelling dock and fencing being built. New electrical being installed for pool and spa. But there was beautiful grass and toys for kids and adults. Great people and service and it will be out a sight for FAMILY get a ways.. We camped at Smokiam Campground in a Motorhome.

This park is part of a city park in Soap Lake, Washington. While the RV park is gravel and asphalt, the adjacent park is grassy with shade trees, picnic tables and a run down skate park. The showers and restrooms are dated, but clean and serviceable. The main attraction is the lake itself and the rv park sits at waters edge. We camped at Smokiam Campground in a Truck Camper.

Tips for other Campers:

The lake offers swimming and one can wade far out into it. The water has a unique feel to it almost like a lotion treatment. Many coat themselves is the mud from the lake claiming it benefits their skin.

Overall Rating:

This is a campground right on Soap Lake that is run by the city. There are a bunch of RV sites lakefront, and a few others that aren't plus tent sites. It's nothing fancy. Just a line of sites with a small grassy area and picnic table separating them, but it's an unbeatable deal at $20/night with full hookups. There is a restroom with an indoor shower in men's and women's plus an outdoor shower to rinse off after you swim in the lake. Didn't use the restrooms, but they looked ok although old and a bit shabby. There is a nice park adjacent to the campground with a big playground for the kids and basketball hoop, horseshoe pit etc. and beach access. I didn't go farther, but I believe there are some stores and restaurants within walking distance since the park is right in town. To get to the lake from our site it was a very short walk over some rocks. The lake is full of minerals that supposedly have healing properties and it feels "soapy", therefore the name. Some people also take mud baths but I didn't feel like getting all muddy. Don't know if it's actually helpful, but the lake was nice to swim in and very boyant. It's also very shallow, so you don't have to worry about not being a strong swimmer. We would've stayed another night and gone kayaking, but the winds blew up really strong overnight so we bailed. I'd definitely go back though. We camped at Smokiam Campground in a Truck Camper.

Overall Rating:

Pretty much a gravel parking lot, but the RV sites back right up to the lake so this makes up for the lack of grass and room between sites. The showers looked like they had not been cleaned in a month or more. The price is great for full hookups this close to the lake. We also have 4 kids so normally that would mean extra fees, but there are none here. We also called the other RV park on the lake and they said we could park in their overflow parking for twice the price as we paid at this RV park. One catch is the sewer connection is right next to the water and electric so our trailer hookup would not reach. There is no shade so it can get very hot, but then again you are so close to the lake you can take a dip. Most people we encountered here spoke Russian which made for an interesting stay. We enjoyed camping here. We camped at Smokiam Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Probably my favorite place to camp overall when I come to the Ephrata Soap Lake area. Has a clean restroom and shower, which is really important to me. I usually can get a spot near the restroom. A short walking distance to Soap Lake and my favorite area restaurant, Don's Restaurant. No wireless internet but then I can use one of the libraries in the area for that. Reasonable price. Some noise off the road but not bad in my insulated truck camper. Only weakness is that I prefer to have at least a couple other campers nearby, so one time last October camping by myself I was the only one there, so in that case I probably would go to one of the bigger parks. However, most of the time there are other campers so it is not an issue. Will camp there again soon. We camped at Smokiam Campground in a Truck Camper.

The only negative of this campground is the afternoon wind as it is in the mouth of a canyon. It is clean with updated utilities. It is next to a highway, but the traffic is slow. We felt it is an excellent value and is under utilized. We will stay here again. We camped at Smokiam Campground in a Motorhome.

City campground along lake and highway, good for overnight stop. Price should not be above $15.00 for what is offered. May stay again. We camped at Smokiam Campground in a Fifth Wheel.
