We stayed here in a 30 ft travel trailer at site #11. There was some shade, but felt very exposed. The site layout was not to our liking with the table and firepit to the rear of the site and the door side right next to the tenters next door. Many of the sites were a combined back in and pull through arrangement that may have been good for folks camping together, but not an acceptable scenario for us. Sites 5, 7, and 9 were the only ones we would stay at if we ever returned. We took a drive over to Canaan Valley State Park (about 20 minutes away) and thought that would be a better place to head next time we are in that area (sites 5, 12, 14, 15, 17, 24, 32, and 34 all looked good with pull throughs and much better spacing). Cell phone coverage was 1g, so no data or hot spot internet here. No OTA TV either, but the hiking and exploring the area more than made up for that. We especially liked the Elakala and Lindy point trails. It was an easy hike to the falls (lots of stairs though). We camped at Blackwater Falls State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

We asked for a dining recommendation and were told that the Sawmill would be a good choice. It wasn't that good - but the price was right. No alcohol. Sirianni's pizza was excellent and the service was great. Prices very reasonable as well.

Overall Rating:

The electric loop is an open circle with restroom in the grassy center. Trees surround the perimeter but do not afford shade to the sites. The sites are nicely spaced apart, but of course, you can just about see the whole campground from your site. The bathhouse is old, stalls very small and IMO does not meet ADA requirements. They were working on the bathhouse so there was paint chips on the rusted shower drain, sink drains were clogged too. IMO, a new modern bathroom house needs to be built, this one is beyond repair. The centralized water faucets had not been turned on yet. Campers that had been there before, had long hoses to attach to the bathroom faucet to fill up their rigs. Blackwater Falls is beautiful. Well maintained stairs to close up view of the falls. We also enjoyed Balanced Rock trail. The lodge is very nice too. It's worth staying at the campground, to spend some time at the falls. We camped at Blackwater Falls State Park in a Motorhome.

Really nice park. Lots of hiking trails. Lodge with restaurant which was good. Campground is open on a hill with amazing sunset views. Can be windy. Sites were not terribly level, electric only. We were there early in the season and the water was not turned on. Park staff were helpful and the office was right at the campground. The falls were beautiful and deer abound. The bathhouse looked like it was scraped and ready to be painted--I hope. It did look scruffy. We camped at Blackwater Falls State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

The town of Davis is nearby. Quite small but good supermarket, a few shops and a couple good restaurants--a bit surprising in such a rural area, but it is a tourism hub. We really loved the landscape and the area. Would have stayed longer and would come again. Easy access to the park.

This is a beautiful park! The natural wonders are amazing! There is hiking and swimming in the lake. You can also rent kayaks or small paddle boats. There was a nature center, playground and fishing. The camping facilities were spacious and well maintained. We had a site with electricity. There is common water spigots at various locations. It does have a dump station and water station. We were able to buy firewood and ice on site. We camped at Blackwater Falls State Park in a Truck Camper.

Tips for other Campers:

There is a lodge about two miles from the campground within the park. We had a really good BBQ lunch. We also visited the nearby town of Davis and had a nice breakfast and lunch. There was also a Stop and Save for supplies.

Campground is electric only. Bathrooms were clean and showers in good condition. Site was not very level, but spaced well and large open area on inside of loop drive with central bath house. Access to sites was good with numerous pull through sites. Quick walk over to the beautiful falls from the campground. We camped at Blackwater Falls State Park in a Travel Trailer.

We stayed here for one night, and would love to come back again. The hiking trails around the campground are great, and the foliage in the fall was spectacular. The campground was about 2/3 full but didn't feel crowded. We didn't need to get anything after we arrived, but the town of Davis is close by (about 1 mile away) if you need provisions. We camped at Blackwater Falls State Park in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

Nice, quiet friendly place. The hookups are electric only. Dry camping is not a problem for us until our freshwater tank runs dry. To refill it would have required breaking down the site and towing the trailer to the other loop of the campground, to the only water tap with a hose connection. I'd be concerned about supplying from that tap, as it is located just opposite the dump station, which has no water hydrant of its own. Aside from that, the staff could not have been friendlier or more accommodating, and even when the place was fully loaded on the Labor Day weekend, the other campers were quiet and civilized, unlike some other places we've stayed on holiday weekends. The surrounding countryside is beautiful. We camped at Blackwater Falls State Park in a Travel Trailer.

This is a nice state park campground located 0.25 miles from Blackwater Falls in a very woodsy setting. Recreation area has basketball court, vollyball, tennis, and a swimming area on a lake. Most of the sites are too small for large rigs but a program is currently underway to enlarge some of the sites in the electric loop. If you arrived on a crowded weekend with a big rig, the available sites might be too small. Dump station and water station is located on one of the roads requiring some careful maneuvers the wrong way on a one-way street to get the correct side of my RV next to the dump. Then you block traffic while you dump. We camped at Blackwater Falls State Park in a Fifth Wheel.
