We stayed here two nights while come to and from Snowshoe resort. The owner allowed us to leave the camper on site and hooked up while we were staying up on the resort. He was very easy to work with and super nice. Obviously cares about their customers. The grounds were clean with plenty of sites to use. Mountain View’s all around as well as a coal driven locomotive nearby. Will surely be back again. We camped at East Fork Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Overall Rating:

This is a very nice campground with a great small river flowing through it. The owner was friendly and helpful. Smaller campers can camp along the East Branch river. Our site had water and electric and some big rig sites have FHU. Pet friendly, but keep dogs leashed. You can easily walk to the town of Durbin, but not much there. Grocery store has closed, but a restaurant remains open and a restaurant/bar is also open. Durbin is the home of the "Durbin Rocket" steam train attraction, which runs Thursday thru Sunday. Great fun to hear the steam venting and whistle from our campsite. NO cell service - This is inside the "National Radio Quiet Zone." We did have a radio station from central Virginia. Not far to the Green Bank telescope and the Cass Scenic Railroad. This campground is within a large National Forest. If possible, plan your route to stay in the valleys. 9% grades not unusual on the highway north going toward Elkins. GPS is not reliable in this area. We will return to this campground, hopefully soon. We camped at East Fork Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

We never did find an actual "grocery store" nearby, but Elkins (1 hour) is full service with a Wal-Mart. The "Durbin Rocket" is really a fun experience. From campground, walk up to train station TH-SU and watch them prep the locomotive - It is a hoot.

Overall Rating:

Very good park and basecamp for the many opportunities in the area. On a flat piece of land between the East Fork of the Greenbrier river. Layout is inventive which makes it feel very open. Utilities are first rate. Internet signal is weak but was adequate. Signal booster antenna is helpful. Note, the park is within the radio free zone of the Green Bank Observatory so no cell service. The only minus for this park is that the showers need a bit more detail in cleaning. Be aware that the area is mountain driving, 6-9% grades with roads that seldom see a straight-a-way. If you do not see deer it is odd. We camped at East Fork Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Kinder's Market is closed, Fuel and a small store in Bartow 4 miles East. Walmart/Kroger in Elkins, hourdrive. Two restaurants in Durbin, a bar and station 2, (for sale}. Station 2 exhibits their right-wing beliefs and a sign says if you are offended you can leave, we did. There is dining in Elkins. IThis is the home of the Durbin Rocket, a Shay coal fired locomotive that does two daily trips Thursday-Sunday. Railroad noise is off and on from 9 am to 5 pm. The coal fire smell may be present as the loco is kept warm. The excursion ride is worthwhile. n addition to the train in Durbin there are excursions from Cass and Elkins. Scenic drives, waterfalls, and Civil War sites. A lot of historic architecture. A beautiful area

Overall Rating:

We spent our 10th wedding anniversary here in our RPod 180. Being unwired and off line in a quiet mountain valley appealed to us, as this campground is located in the United States Radio Quiet Zone. Cell phones do not work. The campground is quiet, well taken care of by the owner, and offers very limited range WiFi close to the office. There is a cable connection that will give you 4 channels on your cable television. Just remember to turn off the signal amplifier. Showers are spartan, and could use dual sinks instead of just one. However, we enjoyed our stay, and will be returning again. We camped at East Fork Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Overall Rating:

Nice campground in the Monongahela National Forest. 50 miles of West Virginia winding road to access the camp. A steam railroad tour within walking distance. With one of 3 coal burning locomotives of its type in the world. The little town is cute and restaurants are there. If you want to camp in peace this is the place. Very pet friendly and horses are welcome. The Greenbrier River source is Durbin and there are campsites along it. The owners are nice and very helpful. Our site was level and easily accessed. Electric was fine and the water is municipal. A good night's sleep can be had here. We planned to stay a few days and stayed longer. We camped at East Fork Campground in a Fifth Wheel.
