Overall Rating:

They have a number of very nice primitive camping areas but they've added a 2nd RV camping area with FHU that is NOT big rig friendly. While the spots have decent room between them, the parking pad of gravel is very narrow, difficult to pull into and out of and most are not very level. We were able to jockey around to be able to level without blocks in our spot but saw others that would have been challenging. But that's not the issue. We're very comfortable dealing with steep hills with switchbacks. This however was enough for us to say never again. The steeper sections are paved but they are 1 lane narrow. On a busy holiday weekend definitely a problem. The upper area requires a car to get back to the resort area. If you're a big rig and can't get into the original lower camping area - I'd pass. If they do have a site available in the lower area, call every couple of weeks to make sure it's still assigned to you. We got moved and the folks next to us as well. Our site didn't have a fire ring, but the site next to us had one someone built out of rocks. We camped in a 38ft motorhome. That being said, the folks working at the resort are wonderful (the reservation system though sounds like it needs some updating). Rafting was super fun and the water park looked like fun as well. Photo is of the lower campground. Acceptable if you're coming to enjoy the facilities. We camped at Ace Adventure Resort in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Definitely go to restaurant on-site, The Lost Paddle. We were pleasantly surprised and enjoyed our meals there. We even tried the breakfast buffet. While the selection was limited, what was there was well prepared. They'll heat the cinnamon buns at breakfast if you ask. The "cobbler" wasn't typical fruit and crust it was more cake-like.

Overall Rating:

This is a small park with a lots of campsites for tents but only five or six pull thrus for motor homes or trailers. There is 50 amp with water and sewer hookups. Each site has a table. DirectTv was assessable but you can't get a signal on an antenna. The grass was a bit long but we have had a rainy spring. There is a lake with lots of slides/toys for swimming. On Saturday Night a band played in a tent. They were quite good. The best part about this park is the access to ATV trails nearby. You can rent machines to ride the trails. And the trails are awesome! Some are challenging. The campground isn't wonderful but the amenities and activities nearby make for a nice mini vacation. We camped at Ace Adventure Resort in a Motorhome.

Don't pay for the ATV rental at Ace Adventure. Call directly to Burning Rock Outdoor Adventure Park. You will pay half the rate by calling direct.
