Overall Rating:

This is an okay campground, cut from a farm field just outside (1 mile) Baileys Harbor, the quiet side of Door County. There is not much to look at; the office is a blue metal bldg. which looks more like the maintenance shed. But they do have a good sized party room and nice pool area. I had read some of the reviews about the narrow, patio facing sites and since we were part of a group, fully expected to have one which would have been okay. The sites were still quite close together but all faced the same way. We were on an end so our patio area was larger than most, just not level ground. The person at the check-in desk was a little confused on the length of our stay and the price. However, the owner was there to straighten him out. They do not have any campground map and information sheet, but the owner does escort you to your site. At $41 this is pretty good price for Door Co, and you do get a fifth night free. The interior roads are paved in some areas and gravel in others. The sites are all gravel and somewhat level. Approximately half the sites are seasonals, and there are a few cabins. There is no patio, but a fire ring was provided at the back of the site, near the pasture. It is located on a county hwy so there is very little noise, and no trains. The landscaping consisted of scrubby grass and young trees. The utility hookups are clustered quite close together and close the pad. The water pressure was good, but the voltage was variable from 115 down to a low 105. The sewer did not have a threaded connection, and even though I was on the high end of the sewer main, it could not handle the flow from my sewer line. Be sure to use a donut if you have one. The Wi-Fi was quite good. There is no cable TV service, but there is a satellite connection that produce eight fuzzy non-HD stations. Although the property has some warts, there is nothing that would prevent me from returning. We camped at Beantown Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

This is Door County. There is an abundance of attractions. I think number one among them are the fish boils. Many places have them and they are great fun and good food. There are also some very good wineries, and of course Al Johnson's Swedish restaurant. Door County is best seen mid-week. It gets very busy on the weekends, even a rainy Saturday in October.

Easy to reserve online. If you stay four nights you get the fifth night free. We were escorted to our pull-through site which was fairly level and very close to our neighbor. Our slide outs almost touched our neighbors. Roads are a bit tight for rigs 40ft and over. Campground has a pool, nice playground, laundry, game room, small camp store. Some sites have cable, there is WiFi. The campground is surrounded by farms and is very quiet. The staff weren't all that friendly, but we spent most of our time exploring the area. We would stay here again. We camped at Beantown Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Although pricey, this is a good location for touring the peninsula. Very close to downtown Baileys Harbor and short drives to towns on the west side like Sister Bay. All of the seaside towns are charming with lots of flowers and a wide variety of restaurants. You can bicycle pretty much anywhere. There are free concerts almost every day in one town or the other. Farmers markets abound. There is easy access to the water with many public beach areas. Our site at the park was unlevel side to side, and we ended up with one back tire slightly off the ground. The sites contain white rock that left some very deep ruts after a storm. The staff leveled out some of the ruts but not all of them. The white rock is small and gets everywhere. We were on an end site and had a nice green area on the driver side. The passenger side was pretty close to our neighbor. We had our own utility hook up but some sites share it. The WII FI is either good or terrible. Utilities good. Directv satellite good. Verizon 4g 3 bars (varies at different sites). There is a nice, clean pool, and an activity center with a pool table, ping pong, and arcade games. There is also a basketball court and playground. Lots of kids riding their bikes or skateboards through the park. For the most part, it was quiet, although some weekends got a little loud as the locals came to party. We would stay here again. We camped at Beantown Campground in a Motorhome.

We came here to explore Door County. The price of the campsite was on the high end of our comfort zone but still very cheap for Door County. Mosquitos are a problem here. If the wind isn't blowing they descend upon you quickly. If you like sitting outdoors in the evening bring a screen room. The park is absolutely packed this time of year so expect some noise but nothing excessive (at least for us). Piggly Wiggly (the Pig) is the only full service grocery in the area and is located in Sister Bay about 15 minutes away. The park store is very basic and sells candy, pop and water by the bottle. The swimming pool is very large and quite clean. However, it can get very crowded. We camped at Beantown Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

To clarify the site length, I was able to pull my 40' motorhome and tow dolly into my site and still had room to easily park my car in the site. Make sure you go to Peninsula Park for the views and White Fish Dunes for the beach. However, if you have a dog you will have to walk a long distance to bring it to Beach #3 which is dog friendly. Make sure your wallet is full when you get here. Things are fairly expensive but worth it.

Camp space was adequate. We never got WIFI to work. We were connected to their WIFI but could not access the internet. We were unable to get cable TV. When I asked the owner if it was working he said it should be. I asked where he took his family for a fish dinner. He recommended the Harbor Fish Market. Meals were ala carte with entrée for about $25. Difficult to spend less than $60 for dinner for 2 with only water to drink. Door county is amazing. We explored every day; ferry to Washington Island and the island tour, wonderful state parks, amazing ice cream at Wilsons, breakfast at Al Johnsons, Friday night perch at AC Pub, whitefish at Corner Stone. Don't fail to visit the city parks; small, but many provide amazing views of Green Bay and Lake Michigan. We camped at Beantown Campground in a Motorhome.

We arrived late at night and with a dead battery on our TOAD. The owner helped us into our spot, and in the morning tried to jump us. (We ended up having to call Good Sam, it turned out his jumper cables were not working). The campground itself was very peaceful with nice size spots and little trees in between sites. The one thing we didn't love was that we were parked facing our neighbors, instead of the standard everyone pulls in the same way. This wasn't a big problem though, our neighbors were lovely. Perfect star gazing at night, and wonderful area to visit. We did use the laundry room, it had 3-4 washers, and 3-4 dryers, very efficient. We were expecting mail, and the owner went to town to pick it up and deliver it to us, going above and beyond! We would stay here again! We camped at Beantown Campground in a Motorhome.

We got into the campground late at night. The check-in was quick. Then the guy led us out to our site and watched as we backed in. That was nice for him to take us to our site late at night when it was dark. The campground itself was one of the quietest I think I have ever been to. The back-in sites are a little on the shorter side. We parked our 5th wheel and then parked the truck in an open lot just across from the 5th wheel. It was very convenient for us. We were here for 2 days and wish we could have been here longer as there is a lot to see in the area with Lake Michigan being just down the road. There are 2 other campgrounds within a mile of this one, they are closer to town. The staff we met was very friendly and the place was kept clean. I would definitely come back here again if in the area. We camped at Beantown Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Nice (but expensive) campground on the Door Peninsula.
Fairly level grass sites, well maintained.
Laundry nice, did a couple loads while we were here. $1.75 to was, $1.25 to dry. Laundry clean as were the showers & restrooms.
More hot water in the showers would have been greatly appreciated! Marked down due to lack of hot water.
No campground map and no site numbers assigned!
Easy drive to Washington Island Ferry and other spots on The Door. We camped at Beantown Campground in a Travel Trailer.

At our site water and sewer connections were so close it was difficult for hookups. The site was a very long level gravel pull-thru. We were given our choice of 2 spots at check-in. We were not given anything except a receipt and the Wi-Fi password when we checked in. The laundry had 4 washers but 1 was out of order and 4 dryers. The room was filthy with torn tissues and papers covering the floor plus a large trash can that was almost full indicating with as few RVs that were there that it had not been emptied in quite a while. The owner & staff have been very nice from my first phone call to check in, to various other questions. It's after Labor Day so it is pretty empty here. They have a nice pool & playground. No much in the way of trees, but very quiet. It's not on the busy side of the Peninsula, but it's quick to get there (about 15 min). The campground could use a little TLC, a fair amount of weeds, but the price was right, it's clean & quiet. The sites aren't huge, but you have plenty of room & there's lots of grass. Most of the sites are gravel & fairly level, but I would definitely bring pads for under the jacks. There is also some grass parking. I looked in the laundry room. It was clean, it had maybe 5 or 6 washers & dryers & the prices were reasonable. Used the restroom once, it was very clean. Overall the wifi has been good. There have been a few slow times, but better than a lot of places we've been. I'd come back if we were in the area. We camped at Beantown Campground in a Motorhome.

This campground seems relatively new and is still being developed. It has a very clean pool area and playground equipment was added while we were there. Laundry was very clean; restrooms were clean and were serviced daily. Others have mentioned the excellent wifi, but we found it to bog down significantly during periods of heavy use and the signal was a bit weak in our section of the campground; nevertheless, it was usable. Don't come here expecting much shade; that can be a plus or a minus depending upon your needs. But a lot of the trees are young, and shade will be increasing with time. Currently, satellite access is excellent. My biggest negative for the park was that the sewer connection was about a foot above ground level; our wastewater discharge is already somewhat low, so it was necessary to "walk" the hose in order to empty the tanks. If that is important to you, be sure to check that out before you accept a particular site; some of the connections were lower. And don't overlook the "every 5th night free" feature; that does make the campground's rate more reasonable. We camped at Beantown Campground in a Travel Trailer.

We stayed here after Labor Day. Seemed to be a number of seasonal permanent people, but didn't bother us. It's the other side of the Peninsula, meaning less hectic and more quiet--we preferred that. You are only minutes away from villages and activity. I agree with some previous notes. They could put a little elbow grease and spiff it up a bit. Gravel roads/parking throughout the park, a little dusty at times. Each spot had a table and fire-ring provided. Wi-Fi was EXCELLENT! Pool closed when we were there, didn't use the shower/or baths so can't comment on that. Quiet and dark at night - a little ways out of the actual town. I would stay here again, after looking at some of the other RV parks. With all the "trees/branches" and size of our rig, this worked the best. We camped at Beantown Campground in a Fifth Wheel.
