Oct 2018 - $45.00
We stayed here for just under three months in late summer of 2018. This is a nice family oriented park with mostly seasonal spots, but enough weekend spots to fill up fairly quickly.
This campground is family owned. There is a ton of activity for the entire family, including alot of outdoor games for kids and adult events at the bar. The people here are very nice. Staff was professional if not overly friendly. Bar food and drink is very good. - Aimee K
Aug 2007 - $25.00
This campground is considered a "party campground" by local residents. We went with 2 other families and unfortunately picked "Poker Run - Harley Motorbikes" weekend. Not many campgrounds in the area have weekend openings so we went anyway. Despite some obvious problems (loud bar & a band playing till midnight) we had a good time. The pool was clean (someone told us the state just made them clean it- that makes me wonder). The bathrooms were fair - older - only 1 house and they were a bit grimy but usable. The playground was older but my kids still had fun. The Black river was awesome and kept all the children occupied the whole day. We fished but didn't catch anything, we swam, and built many sand creations. I would go again to give this place another chance. - travlin-with-tots
Aug 2018 - $44.00
Wonderful experience! The owner is so nice and helpful! She really wants her guests to be happy and have a good time! The grounds are nicely landscaped, they have a great playground, basketball, volleyball, horse shoes, and cabana with wifi. A HUGE clean swimming pond! We really enjoyed that! The trees around the property are mature and beautiful! - tammiann61
Aug 2018 - $55.00
Very pricy quiet mostly seasonal campground that only allows 1 night during the week when there is very few people there. Weekend requires 2 nights. Grass and dirt sites that are at back of campground next to storage area for overnighters. They have a sand beach and pool? next to restrooms and pay showers which is why showers are dirty. Good electric water and sewer locations. Excellent Wi-Fi and OTA channels but no cable. Good for a overnighter. - Biggyrat
May 2018 - $45.00
Quiet park next to a wilderness area, which creates a BIG mosquito population. Be sure to pack your bug spray. Close to great birding areas. Great walleye fish fries. - jeanne gowan
Nov 2015 - $17.00
The weekend we were here was a very busy weekend, but was quiet at the same time. The campsites were of decent size, but giving you privacy from others. Shower/bathroom houses were old, but were kept clean. The ladies room ran out of toweling and hand soap, and some people left their children's dirty diapers on the floor next to the trash bins, which has was rather unpleasant. On a good note, there are plenty of walking trails and scenic areas for picture taking. Canoe rentals are available to paddle around on the Mississippi plus there is swimming allowed (but no beach front) as one would dive in around the boat docks. Beautiful sunsets. One final statement - the speed limit is 10mph and drivers need to slow down as there are a lot of curves going around the campsites and children playing or riding bikes, and some drivers come flying around the curves much higher faster than they should. Overall, I will stay here again. Lot spacing is nearby and mostly shady. Site surface is gravel, dirt and grass; featuring a fire ring and picnic table. - SerenityFix
Aug 2015 - $17.00
This is a beautiful park on the Mississippi River. Our campsite was partially shaded with a picnic bench and a fire ring. There are two nice bathrooms with shower facilities and several pit toilets throughout the campgrounds. There are several hiking and biking trails as well as canoe and kayak rentals. The roads are paved and sites are easy to access. This is definitely a park we will return to in the near future. - User3016
Jun 2015 - $29.00
Bathrooms were very dirty. The men's stunk to high heaven! Only had two shower houses and they were too far to walk to and dirty as well. There was a wasp nest up in the electrical box that was was decent size with a wasp on it. Was not an enjoyable experience. Won't be back. - Lisa Hagee
Jul 2018 - $50.00
This was a repeat stay for me to celebrate the 4th of July and reconnect will dear friends. I love this place!! It feels like home and everyone like family. Spent 6 years on a permanent site myself at another campground. I never felt welcomed like I do here. The pool was sparkling clean and very refreshing after a hot, humid day. The restrooms and laundry were also clean, organized and comfortable. I'll be back next year!!! - Waff
Jun 2018 - $41.00
We have stayed here many times over the past 4 years. I was shocked at the recent review that gave them 1 star. Granted in May when the leaves on the trees have not yet come in, the train is a little loud on the one end of the campground, but it isn't that bad. Bathrooms are by far the cleanest ones I have been in. The pool is always clean and they are very attentive to cleanliness. There is one porta-potty by the large cabin that is cleaner than most peoples bathroom at home. Great seasonal and super nice owners. Small, clean and family orientated campground. - Robyn M H
Jun 2018 - $35.00
Very friendly campground owners/ hosts. Nice older campground with tight spaces and lots of trees. Tough to get satellite to work but I did find a spot to make it happen. Sites are mainly parking on the grass but easy to navigate and utilities are placed right. Has playground for the kids. They do many park activities like Bingo etc. Small store and friendly people. Would stay again if in the area. - Johnny xxxxx
Oct 2005 - $15.00
No hookups. New, clean restrooms/showers. Nice trails & look out sites. Very nice fall colors in October. Requires $7/day or $25/year vehicle permit. Off the beaten path for very quiet private camping. Folage shielded sites for privacy. - dakotaken
Jul 2016 - $29.00
Rate seemed fair for water and electric only. Site was big and lake side; there were no unexpected extra fees.
A little confusing finding site; explanation was rushed and confusing. - Travelor
Oct 2015 - $25.00
We were satisfied with the park. The gentleman at the information desk at the beginning was polite, and check in was quick, since I had called earlier in the week. The layout/numbering of the sites was a little confusing. Due to looking online, I had a general idea where my site was, but the signs were very small, and looked like they were still in the process of restructuring. When I initially hooked up my electricity, i wasn't sure if I was using the right box, it had my site number, but also had two other site numbers. The water hookup was similarly confusing. I ended up disconnecting a permanent residents pressure washer gun (I did reconnect it when I left) and hooking in that way. We weren't sure if the lines were owned by the campground or the other residents.
The site was moderately clean. There was some small litter, but nothing that upset us too much. The site was very large in width, which was nice. Having a picnic table and fire pit was also good. The WiFi had recently been boosted and reached our site on the river, good enough to watch Netflix when going to bed (a few buffering breaks).
Our biggest complaint would be noise. The train rolls through pretty frequently. Not only that, but I don't believe there is a "quiet time," since some of our neighbors were up pretty late partying.
We weren't overly impressed with the grounds, and aren't likely to stay again, but wouldn't be opposed if we were in the area and needed someplace to stay for the night while traveling through. - joshnichols84
Jun 2015 - $25.00
The sites are level, grassy, each with a picnic table and fire ring. Lots of trees and free Wi-Fi, fast enough at times to stream NETFLIX and HBO. As people noted, the water is a large hose run to all sites, with splitters. When everyone is using the water, the pressure can be low, so we simply filled our tank and used our pump. As for being potable, I'm sure it was, but we NEVER drink water out of our tanks anyway. I'm not sure why a person would think that the flooding would affect the safety of the water any more than the fact that the main hydrants are in the ground to start with? You are either in the first row, only 20' or so from the secondary channel of the Mississippi River, or in one of the two next rows, which still put you with a pretty doggone good view for $25 a night! Yes, there are plenty of permanent RVs, locals who spend their weekends, but the place has always been kept up well over the years. We probably come every 5-7 years and have never seen it with overgrown vegetation. Perhaps flooding would be affecting maintenance occasionally, but as a rule, they were pretty much mowing somewhere the entire week we were there this time. As for picking your own site, it was busy when we were there and I had reserved ahead of time, so I didn't have that option. OTOH, how can you complain that you get to pick which site you want? Seriously, I'd sure have picked a heck of a lot of different sites than I've been shoved into at other parks. This place had extensive, and I mean EXTENSIVE, playground areas off to the side. It was and always has been one of our favorite places to stay when we are in the area and I would rather hook up to a garden hose than pay another $10-15 a night to only have the short hose (still a hose!) between a hydrant and my rig. The campground closes to outsiders at 10:00 p.m. and was quiet for the entire week we were there. - chixs
Jun 2018 - $30.00
Too bad a Veteran's Memorial Park doesn't give veterans a discount! We only stayed here one night passing through. Site was not level but we didn't spend much time fussing with it for one night. Wish the lady would have told me that another site was paved and available just down a few spots. No wifi but we had a strong Verizon signal. Didn't use the facilities so can't comment on that. - 2VetsRVing
Jun 2018 - $30.00
What a find! There are not too many choices for a quick overnight in this area. No boondocking is allowed at the usual places and other campgrounds are either too expensive or too far off I-90. This place is easy to find, just minutes off the interstate, clean and friendly. The office is open until 8:00 (summer) and the place is huge, a lot of sites. There were a lot of rigs there but it was quiet. There seems to be a lot to do there and I'd stay an extra day next time to bicycle the state trail. I think there are many seasonals, especially along the riverfront. - janci
Sep 2017 - $28.00
This is a pretty park right along the river. Great walking path around the park and up to the entry where there is a fishing pond and large shelter areas. I gave it fewer stars on value because the wifi only works at the office and there isn't full hook-up. We only had water and electric at the site. Our site was close enough to the office that we could link up to the wifi enough for email downloading. - jenshick
Jun 2006 - $8.00
Good spot to stop if late during the day and traveling through. We will use it again just to get off the road. Open sites that are very easy to get into. I wish more small towns would have sites like this for the passerby. - stetwood
Oct 2018 - $45.00
Part of the park was flooded, but we loved our water and electric site 106 right on the river. The location is great near downtown La Crosse. The wi-fi worked well for us. When we added an extra night, the employee forgot to give us our Good Sam discount that we had the previous night, and he refused to correct his mistake. They also neglected to tell us that the water was turned off at the dump. This lack of customer service along with the high price is the cause of our lower rating. - Donna O
Jul 2018 - $55.00
We stayed here last year for the first time and enjoyed it so much we came back again this year... twice! This is one of the most beautiful sites we've had in our travels. Our site was very spacious and backed up to the river with lots of grass and mature trees. There is so much room to just spread out and enjoy your stay. Mostly level sites. The second time we were here, 1/2 the park was flooded, so make sure you call ahead just in case. With our site, it's usually not an issue but some of them further back are a different story. We think site 104 is one of the best in the park! (but there are many good sites) Good wi-fi. Bar, restaurant and store right on site with the town of LaCrosse and the riverfront not to far away. - bradfeldt
Sep 2017 - $41.00
We stayed two nights on Sunday and Monday and weren't many other campers there. We chose a back in site on the river and enjoyed it very much. We picked 108 because it appeared to be open enough to receive satellite and it was. Lots of trees would probably block satellite at most sites. Major networks received OTA. Lots of grass for dog walking. Verizon signal was ok. Asphalt roads and two concrete strips for tires and a concrete patio and the rest is grass. We would stay here again if in the area. - thekites
Jul 2018 - $1.00
This is a nicely kept park by the lake in beautiful country. Apparently, there are a lot of sites available during the week. It fills up with locals on the weekends and there is no room at the inn for Thousand Trail Members. There are all the amenities of a resort RV park. Two pools, volleyball, basketball, a hot tub, boat rental for the lake and more. The sites are pleasant and well maintained. We will not hesitate to attempt to stay there again. - The Penguin
Jul 2018 - $43.00
A beautiful park in every way. Lots of trees and grass with 2 pools and a lake for play! There are tons of family activities. The site was level, wide and long! Staff was fun and helpful. 30 gallon propane tank only filled on Wednesday. Laundry is well used and tired with appliances broken. Otherwise we would give a 10! - GailMOH
Jun 2018 - $65.00
GPS brought us right to the park. The young gal in the office was friendly but apparently has never driven thru or stayed in the park. We wanted a long pull thru that we could stay hooked up and still get a satellite signal but to get a signal we had to pull to the very front of the site and unhook due to a very large tree. The roads are asphalt and the sites are grass. With the rain that the area has seen the sites are a little soggy. The ATT cellular and 4g signals were strong. - Bob & Jo
