Overall Rating:

Very well kept RV park, with very large, grass sites. Fire ring and picnic table at each site. We were there to visit friends and relatives in the area so we didn't use the facilities. The section we were in had young trees, so no real shade available. The only negatives we encountered were monetary in nature. Expensive (in our opinion) at $47/night for 30 amp with water, but no sewer (dump station is available). They do have FHU, deluxe pull through sites for over $60/night. Was surprised to be told when we arrived around 1 p.m. that there was a $5 charge for arriving early (before 2 p.m.). We camped at Whispering Pines Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Wonderful experience! The owner is so nice and helpful! She really wants her guests to be happy and have a good time! The grounds are nicely landscaped, they have a great playground, basketball, volleyball, horse shoes, and cabana with wifi. A HUGE clean swimming pond! We really enjoyed that! The trees around the property are mature and beautiful! We camped at Whispering Pines Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Very pricy quiet mostly seasonal campground that only allows 1 night during the week when there is very few people there. Weekend requires 2 nights. Grass and dirt sites that are at back of campground next to storage area for overnighters. They have a sand beach and pool? next to restrooms and pay showers which is why showers are dirty. Good electric water and sewer locations. Excellent Wi-Fi and OTA channels but no cable. Good for a overnighter. We camped at Whispering Pines Campground in a Motorhome.

Quiet park next to a wilderness area, which creates a BIG mosquito population. Be sure to pack your bug spray. Close to great birding areas. Great walleye fish fries. We camped at Whispering Pines Campground in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

Stayed here a few days visiting La Crosse because it seemed like the only park in the area with full hookups. The longer we were there, the more impressed we became. Park is mostly well-kept seasonals, most in the trees. They also have nightly full hookup and W/E-only sites, all in the sun. Our full hookup site was wide and flat, with the hookups in the right place. It's the kind of place that is busy on weekends, and pretty quiet midweek. Staff was friendly and helpful. They have a good-sized swimming pond with sand beach. There is a snack shop/bar by the pond that is only open on weekends. Looked like a good place to take kids. I would stay here again. Verizon phone and Internet worked well. We camped at Whispering Pines Campground in a Motorhome.

La Crosse is about 15 miles away, but there is a good grocery store (and probably other retail) in Holmen.

Overall Rating:

We stayed for six weeks. Our monthly rate for the longer part of the stay was $35 a night. Needed to add on two days at full rate of $48. It is a bit pricey for amenities provided, unless you have young children. There is a large pond and beach which they enjoy as well as mini golf, basketball, volleyball, and climbing equipment. Quiet time is enforced so holiday weekends are tolerable. Laundry consists of two older washer and dryers at $2.00 each. Found it better to go to the laundromat in Holmen. WiFi is free here and alternates between very good and not so great. We camped at Whispering Pines Campground in a Motorhome.

If you are in the area, visit the Holmen Meat Locker - great choice of meat as well as a wine tasting area. The laundromat is near Festival Foods in Holmen.

This park has lots of seasonal/weekend campers. So it is quiet during the week and busy on the weekends. There is a swimming *pond* set up like an ocean front beach complete with sand and tiki bar. The kids enjoyed swimming in it and it was reasonably clean. The bathrooms were clean, staff friendly. Sites grass and mostly level. There was a lot of room between the sites. We had an end site which was enormous. You have to pay for your shower. That's always a con for me. The seasonal campers appear to be well kept. We would stay again if in the area. We camped at Whispering Pines Campground in a Motorhome.

This is typical of parks in this part of the country. Mostly seasonal campers since they are only open 6 months out of the year. Water pressure was good and voltage was good. It was an adequate place for our needs as we were doing the Great River Road Trip. We stayed here as it was centrally located for the stuff we wanted to see. Narrow one lane gravel/dirt roads and sites are the same. We would probably not stay here again. We camped at Whispering Pines Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

No sewer?? 30 amp service?? And the owners are planting trees all over the place, which might be OK but they are planting them at the end of the sites, so when you want to turn out and leave you have to deal with: trees. I suspect but don't know for sure that the owners really have not camped before. Most places of this size would angle the sites at a 45 degree instead of straight. They do have Wi-Fi, worked for us but not sure if it does all over the campground. Nice swim area for kids. I think the owners have their heart in the campground, but not their brains as far as development goes. Full-timers as we are, this place has potential. We camped at Whispering Pines Campground in a Motorhome.

This is a great quiet, clean and spread out campground with large, level sites. Our kids enjoyed the pond with floating toys, rode bikes down the wide open lanes and had use of basketball, mini golf and playground. It was a weekday and very quiet but very nice. Owners helped us get to the Great River Trail and were very friendly and helpful. I will definitely go back. We camped at Whispering Pines Campground in a Travel Trailer.

We stayed here in May 2009 and what a beautiful campground. The owners are wonderful so kind and very helpful. They are doing a lot of remodeling and fixing up the campground. They have no sewer at the site but a very nice easy access dump station. It is very quiet here and very good security. We only stayed two nights but definitely would go back. Our site was nice and big. Also they have some seasonal people and they have done a beautiful job planting flowers around their places. We can't say a bad thing about this place because it is really a whispering pines place. We camped at Whispering Pines Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

We have a seasonal campsite here. This is our first year and we are quite impressed. Our only complaint is there is not much grass. On the upside, there are activities for the kids, a playground, movies outside, kickball, bingo, a swimming pond, mini golf. They also are having a concert event scheduled. There is a new bathhouse and the new owners are very open to any ideas or suggestions. We feel at home. I would recommend this campground We camped at Whispering Pines Campground in a Travel Trailer.

What a great place to stay! Wide, long sites that are level. Very quiet. There are about 1/2 the sites that are seasonal. Easy to get into and out of. And, all the trees! The pines really do whisper here! We camped at Whispering Pines Campground in a Motorhome.
