Unfortunately, we visited after a very wet spring so the campground had just opened. They were still trying to clean up from the flooding. But we had a beautiful site right on the river. We camped at Pettibone Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Part of the park was flooded, but we loved our water and electric site 106 right on the river. The location is great near downtown La Crosse. The wi-fi worked well for us. When we added an extra night, the employee forgot to give us our Good Sam discount that we had the previous night, and he refused to correct his mistake. They also neglected to tell us that the water was turned off at the dump. This lack of customer service along with the high price is the cause of our lower rating. We camped at Pettibone Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

We stayed here last year for the first time and enjoyed it so much we came back again this year... twice! This is one of the most beautiful sites we've had in our travels. Our site was very spacious and backed up to the river with lots of grass and mature trees. There is so much room to just spread out and enjoy your stay. Mostly level sites. The second time we were here, 1/2 the park was flooded, so make sure you call ahead just in case. With our site, it's usually not an issue but some of them further back are a different story. We think site 104 is one of the best in the park! (but there are many good sites) Good wi-fi. Bar, restaurant and store right on site with the town of LaCrosse and the riverfront not to far away. We camped at Pettibone Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Pettibone park across the highway is beautiful. Short walk or drive over. The LaCrosse waterfront area is very nice for an evening stroll and dinner/drinks.

We stayed two nights on Sunday and Monday and weren't many other campers there. We chose a back in site on the river and enjoyed it very much. We picked 108 because it appeared to be open enough to receive satellite and it was. Lots of trees would probably block satellite at most sites. Major networks received OTA. Lots of grass for dog walking. Verizon signal was ok. Asphalt roads and two concrete strips for tires and a concrete patio and the rest is grass. We would stay here again if in the area. We camped at Pettibone Resort in a Motorhome.

Spacious lot with beautiful shade trees (could not get satellite reception, though). Site was level and well-kept. Mississippi River on one side of park and canal on other. Only 30 amp available and no sewer hook-up which is why value only rated 3 stars. Staff was friendly. We camped at Pettibone Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

We have stayed here many times in the past . Always had a good stay and this one was no different . Spent a week in site 314 . If you want wi-fi the best time is in the morning. Speed is good , come early evening we switch to Verizon My FI . Staff is pleasant . Weekends are party time yet the noise is never too bad . Only problem is there are very few places your dish will work due to the trees. We camped at Pettibone Resort in a Motorhome.

Almost didn't stay here after reading some of the reviews but this ended up being one of the best parks we have camped at. Our site was absolutely gorgeous backing right along the river. Plenty of green space between sites. The site we were originally assigned to would have been tight with the trees and our slideouts so they gave us a couple options to choose from. After driving a few sites down, the next site was perfect! Wi-fi was not good, but our wi-fi range extender came in handy. There were two concrete tracks to back onto, not a full pad but there was also a paver patio with the picnic table so things were very clean at the site. Some of the class A's had a difficult time getting into the interior sites but after driving around to back in, there were able to get in just fine. We would definitely stay here again in the same site. We camped at Pettibone Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Easy in, easy out access to highway. Office is in the bar and employee checking us in was not very pleasant. Park had been underwater week prior to our stay. Grassy area was still very soft and lots of mosquitoes. The picnic tables were still stacked in one area and when we requested one be brought to our site we were told by a very unpleasant young woman that the manager would have to do that and he was not on site at the time and staff didn't know when he would be back. We were there 3 days and no table. Lawn mower began early in the day. Felt they could have started mowing in the many unoccupied sites. We camped at Pettibone Resort in a Motorhome.

Stayed here a 5 days while visiting relatives. Park is clean but on Mississippi, so no sewer. They do furnish pump outs on Mondays and Thursday. Showers and restrooms clean.

Paid for 50 amp. Something wrong with 50 amp plug. Electrical Management System would not let power through, did it's job. Plugged into 30 amp. It worked fine. Ask office to send someone to check power. They came out without talking to me and plug us back into 50 amp. Asked office again to send someone out. Never did. Used 30 amp.

Office is also a bar so get here before happy hour. Can't hear a thing because of the juke box. Bartender is also check in clerk. We camped at Pettibone Resort in a Motorhome.

Really nice park on an island in the Mississippi River. Spacious sites easily accommodate large rigs.

Back-in sites back onto the river, facing west so you get a nice sunset. Pull-throughs are in the middle.

Laundry is a little old - 2 washers/2 dryers, but they got the job done. $1 per load so price was right!

Bathrooms too are a little old but showers were free and water was hot, again a bargain.

Cable was disconnected a few years back, but Wi-Fi is available. Depending on users, access varied, but I was able to update our blog without too much trouble.

No sewers as island is a "flood plain" but there are 2 dump stations on the way out.

We came for 1 night, fell in love with the view, the quiet, and the general surroundings so stayed a 2nd night. I can see why some people we met come here for the entire summer. I would too if we didn't have other places to go.

Highly recommend this park. We would definitely stay here again. We camped at Pettibone Resort in a Travel Trailer.

The park is convenient to LaCrosse attractions and right off Highway 61/14. The sites were of sufficient length and well shaded by tall trees. Access to the Mississippi River west branch is on one side and local access on the other. A restaurant and bar are on site. We camped at Pettibone Resort in a Motorhome.

Camp here if you love boating and fishing. Mosquitoes were terrible, and after heavy rain the sites were lightly flooded but that inhibited movement around the site due to the standing water.

Utility hook ups were on a shared post that required in our case an extension cord on our electrical hook up.

Although "cable TV" was advertised on their web site it was nonexistent. The office clerk said "it got washed away in one of last year's rains."

There is NO "wifi" access. We camped at Pettibone Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

I have mixed feelings about this campground. I don't consider it a "resort" by any means, but they have a door marked "banquet hall" and apparently have events there. There are branches of the Mississippi all around the campground, so many people have boats moored near the campsites, and many sites are seasonal. There are no sewer connections at all, probably because of potential floods, and there's a honey wagon for long-term folks. Since there are over 600 sites, I was amazed that there is only one bathroom with only 4 showers! They weren't really dirty, but they are very dated and there was water everywhere from so much use. They had put a bucket of sand for cigarettes INSIDE the bathroom and it smelled like smoke! (I moved it outside!) We saw two port-a-potties in a second section of the campground. They advertise cable, but the sign said it's not working, which seems to be routine, since another reviewer said the same thing 2 years ago! And, the only Wi-Fi was at the office. My phone just barely had enough signal for data. That said, it's an attractive campground with lots of trees...just really crowded in the summer. And, it's close to the city. We camped at Pettibone Resort in a Motorhome.

I would have preferred a separate entrance for the campground. Checking in at the bar is challenging when it's a full crowd and loud music. Then I had to go back to ask for firewood which was another challenge. Unfortunately, the firewood was wet and a waste of money so no fire. There are no site sewers and that Sunday we arrived the dump station was closed. Fortunately it was back open by the time we left. The site was beautiful and the camp was quiet at night. We had a nice bat show at dusk which we enjoyed and seemed to keep bugs at bay. If you have slide-outs and an awning, do not take sites 105 or 106 since there are large trees in the way. We had to change sites to accommodate our awning and slide-outs. We camped at Pettibone Resort in a Motorhome.

This was a strange campground with a lot of inconsistencies. It had great, easy to back into site along the river, but weird, hard to pull into "pull-thru" sites in the middle. It had a bar, but it was also attached to the check in so that you had to compete with it/on the phone as well as in person. That same person pushed the button to let you in the gate, so had to "see you" as you entered (all the while attending bar). All that said, the place had lovely views all around the river. As one person noted, "it could be made into a 5-star place with a little work!" My biggest advise, don't get a pull-thru! We camped at Pettibone Resort in a Motorhome.
