Rustic forest sites for smaller RVs and tents. Great fishing within a short walk on a premier trout and salmon river. All sites have shade. Very quiet except for the river and wildlife. Gravel sites with many on an angle. Self-registration. - tabber386
May 2015 - $12.00
State parks require annual permit or day pass. Rustic camping with some "modern" pit toilets. Central water faucets around the park. No electric, no water at camp sites, no dump station or sewer available. This park is absolutely gorgeous with rapids, water falls, flowing over ancient granite rock ridges. Play in the water or fish in the river, hike the marked trails with points of interest. Mostly private campsites with trees and bush between sites. Love this park and connecting with nature here. It is a "mystic" place to be one with nature. Camped here many times. Always a rejuvinating experience.
Our travel trailer is 24 foot long and that is about the max length for most of the sites. There are a couple of sites that have a longer angled back in that could hold a bigger rig. But many sites are only big enough for your vehicle and a tent or pop up camper.
The day use area is busy on nice weekends because you can wade in the river and climb the water falls and rapids. Take your time to explore the trails and follow the river up and down both sides. Many hidden spots that are treasures of nature. - Macmasterson

Great staff, friendly and courteous. Site was a pull through, nice and level. The park is set way back from the highway so it is very quiet. I would stay there again. - Tanker

This campground is set in the trees along the banks of Iron Lake. It feels like you are in a state park. Very natural and shady. The roads and sites are gravel and when it is dry it is dusty. It looked like all the overnighter sites where right there in front of the office. The seasonal sites were all along the hillside and down in the woods and along the lake. Very nice. I would have liked one of those sites and avoid the dust from the road, but I was only there for one night. Office was helpful and friendly. I would stay here again. - EdinFL

In May we tried to reserve a weekend here for late June but found the CG was already pretty booked up. The owners were very responsive and placed us on a wait list for any last minute cancellations but ultimately we could only have one night there on an electric/water site. Our location actually placed us right in amongst a seasonal family and we felt as though we would be encroaching on their space if we sat outside. Not the fault of anyone, just our feeling. The site we did have was an old but fairly level concrete pad that we squeezed our 40' 5er on to. It was nicely shaded and had a large grassy space but like I mentioned, merged in to our neighbours fire pit and green space. The hosts/owners or managers (not sure) were very responsive and tried hard to find us a serviced space but due to the popularity of this location we could only have the one night. Power and water was very good and their wi-fi was excellent. There are some really nice locations within the CG which also has access to a lake in which you can swim, water-ski, kayak or canoe. The CG is far enough from Hwy 2 that you cannot hear it and no trains! We didn't try for any tv stations and don't have satellite. There is an on-site bar and laundry that we didn't make use of. The washrooms were older but clean, located behind the office/bar area and accessible 24/7. This is very much a family orientated CG but still quiet enough for a couple in their mid 50's with no kids or pets and we would definitely stay here again. - Hutch333id

Owner was exceptional, we were having hard time locating a park. She told us to come on in that she had a site, but didn't know if we could get our big rig in. She would also help us locate a park if necessary. We did get in and it was a tight fit. They were so nice and helped us out the next morning. We would camp here again in a heartbeat if they have another site big enough. Beautiful, calm, serene sitting. - eagle on the move
Aug 2018 - $38.00
Yes this is an older campground but we found it to be nicer than some of the other reviews said. They had just regraded most of the roads and the lawns between sites were excellent. Our main concern with most places is the noise, but even though this one is near the highway there are a lot of trees blocking the sound and it was fairly quiet. There are natural trees & field on 2 sides, so ask for a site backing in to the field on the back side for more privacy. Our site was twice as long as normal with a fire ring in the back. Dish satellite worked fine as there is no cable. Couldn't get their Wifi. The heated pool looked fine but it was a colder day so we got in the spa. - Hands For Him
Jul 2018 - $30.00
The park is close to the highways and can be noisy. However, it is very convenient to both Superior and Duluth. Walmart and other services are not far away. The owner is a little strict and will chastise the campers without first inquiring about the topic. Cannot use exterior rugs since the sites are grass. I stayed two nights and spent most of the time away. Laundry was good. - Texaloha
Jul 2018 - $35.00
Easy to get in/out. Interior roads and sites are gravel. Gravel on our site was barely wide enough for the tires to sit on each edge if back in perfectly. Utilities in good position and worked well. Wifi only available in the office. Verizon signal strong. Old, run-down, basic campground. The pool is the only nice looking part of the park. The suspended ceiling in the bathroom looked like it was ready to fall down from water pooled on top. Many power posts throughout the park are leaning at all angles. Our power management shut us down once do to low voltage electricity when was hot and both air conditioners running. It got the job done for an overnight stop but I wouldn't stay for long. - cwier
Aug 2011 - $25.00
The fire pit was full of ashes when we got there. The shower was dirty and the bathroom was filthy! The swimming area was beautiful but that was the only good thing about the place. It appeared that it was mainly a place for seasonal campers as we were the only one there that were transient. As a result, we felt completely out of place and unwelcome. The other campers including the "host" sat on the front porch of the "store" and starred at us as we came in and out. They acted like we were trespassing! NOT WELCOMING AT ALL!! It was rude of the host. We asked for help and he smelled like he had slept in a bar. - parentof4
Jul 2011 - $25.00
County owned and electricity is being updated. We expected to see hiking trails, etc, but none present. There is swimming for kids and a pretty busy boat dock. It would appear that a majority of the campers are seasonal. We used it as a base camp, but will find another campground in the future. We also expected it tough to find a site because of the closure of Minnesota parks but we were the only transient campers. - stetwood
Jul 2011 - $25.00
Shower was out of order, lights in outhouse did not work, the picnic table was busted, our "fire pit" was a small tire rim, the beach was full of goose dropping with LONG grass, the swimming area was mucky and weedy, the garbage dumpster was overflowing, and there was no host to be found. I called the county to complain about the situation and was told they were completely satisfied with the way the camp was being maintained and managed. Would NOT recommend this place!! - parentof4
May 2011 - $25.00
Nice clean park way off the beaten path so it's quiet. The main attraction is ATV riding with lots of trails near by. Wi-Fi works good close to entry to park. Large sites but the layout is strange. Some sites the hookups are on the right side. No resort amenities basic camping. Sandy roads and sites with gravel. We would stay here again. - nedmtnman
Sep 2017 - $43.00
Beautiful campground with privacy between campsites...electric on some sites...water available to fill tank seperate from dumping area..near sites are drinking fountains and areas to fill containers...first time thru Wisconsin for camping and this was a great first stay except expensive for people out of state..camp host is very nice and very informative. - kaths
Jul 2017 - $25.00
We were treated very badly here by staff, ranger and campground patrons. A hostile, racist, redneck environment in this campground and in the local towns. Outsiders are not welcome here. Loud music past dark . Trash was left on my campsite from previous campers. When I complained it took many excuses and several days before they did anything about it. Very dissatisfied with my weeklong stay. This park needs to be inundated with diverse people to change the status quo. They say the ranger and "hosts" are always available but they are no where to be found! - whitewater
Jul 2017 - $28.00
Park is deceptive in describing pull thru's. Our site 41, is actually two separate back in sites with a common drive. Not acceptable. If you reserve online check to be sure what you are getting. Lots are very close to each other. Site surface is gravel and dirt. There is a fire ring and picnic table. - Sands51
